Berg’s 24th Law In Action
By Mitch Berg
In writing this, I realize I may have a case for another Berg’s law – in a place run by progressive, every alternative to your current politicians is worse than the one you have.
People might’ve thought “what could be worse than having Al Franken as a senator?“. I give you… Tina Flint Smith.
But I digress. This was him on Twitter, yesterday, apparently either watching the debate, or having someone feed him, factoids about it:
I mean, it is ignorant enough to be something Senator Smith might say:
But I think it does the truth a disservice to just chalk it up to ignorance.

Rather than ignorance, this is gaslighting on an industrial scale.

Well, his statement is true in the sense that Minnesota is no longer “trying” to allow that, we “already” allow that, by state law enacted by Franken’s comrades in the last session.

Based on the results of the last election as well as Fluffy’s many comments about the desirability of liberal (to the point of nonexistent) restrictions on abortion, do you really think Franken’s misrepresentation (aka lie) matters in the slightest?

Hey, the bright side here is that Franken at least recognizes how barbaric abortion up to the moment of birth is, no? Yes, he’s not willing to do the hard work of “reading the papers” or to be basically informed, but I do give him credit for realizing that going through the birth canal does not fundamentally change the moral argument about whether it’s OK to kill that baby or not.
And of course, if someone asked him the question point blank, I do expect him to state the “proper”, Tina Smith answer, but when he thought nobody was watching, he did say what he actually thought. Good for him.
