A Nation Of Boogiemen
By Mitch Berg
It’s this blog’s considered position that DFL politicians can say pretty much anything they want; they know that the typical DFL voter, while invincibly smug about their education, is incredibly badly informed and, being a trained regurgitator of dogma, has no capacity for critical thought. They also know that the Twin Cities’ subservient news media – being mostly from that same population – won’t do anything to fix that.
Which is why Melvin Carter can write bilge like this:
Now, you know gun store owners aren’t clairvoyant. And I know it.
And so does Melvin Carter.
He knows that a “straw buyer” is someone who:
- Uses his or her clean criminal record – with no indication they might be a probem, and
- Knowingly sells or gives guns to criminals.
And Mayor Carter also knows that neither the Hennepin nor Ramsey County attorneys, going back decades, is especially enthusiastic about going after straw buyers. Nobody ever got elected Senator by putting a gang-banger’s girlfriend in jail.
But they typical DFL voter? Someone who learned their law enforcement from a video game or an episode of “Criminal Minds?” They likely do think there’s some way for a gun store worker to tell if the person showing their ID is one of the 99.999% of gun buyers who are legit, or that other one who’ll sell a gun to a ne’er do well who goes on to shoot up a bar in Saint Paul.
And they just don’t care that much anyway.

The straw buyer was Jerome Fletcher Horton Junior (search his name). Look at his photo. Notice his race.
The seller was Fleet Farm but not all from one store at one time, several stores over several weeks. Stop by the gun counter at any Fleet Farm, look at the clerks. Notice their race.
Keith Ellison’s argument is that White store clerks should not have sold firearms to a Black man because they should have known he would use them in crime.
If the White store clerks had refused to sell the Black man guns after he passed the background check, what would Keith Ellison say about that? Human Rights Act? Racial Discrimination? Hate Crime?
Notice that the government agency charged with enforcing the straw-purchase law – ATF – investigated and did NOT seek charges. Why is the US Attorney appointed by Lesko Brandon such a slacker? Why is he sucking up to merchants of death? Why doesn’t he do HIS job?
Or did he?

I’ve got the solution, 100% guaranteed to cut the death by gunshot rate by 50% in 5 years.
Make it a 10 year felony for any black to possess a firearm. Even holding one will catch a beef.

Conversely, if that isn’t convenient, let’s send blacks to ghetto combat school, so they get a better kill rate.
I’m sick of reading about 100 rounds being expended, and only one Tyrone down, and 3 in the hospital getting $300,000 worth of treatment I have to pay for.

So, Mr Jerome Fletcher Horton Jr, is alleged to have bought and sold a total of 33 guns. He was given just over 2 years for the one gun being used in an illegal manner. Did he have to account for the other 32?
Btw, is that 2 year conviction a felony? Or can Mr Horton, after serving some or all of that time, go back to sharing his clean record with all his thug friends?

I would also like to add that I can’t quite agree that Horton had an easy time of it buying those guns.
First of all, he had to drive all the way out to stores far beyond the hood employing and filled with white people. White people who probably looked askance or even worse when H-dog made his appearance. White people obeying the law and judgementally assuming everyone else does too.
These are the sorts of micro-aggressions that black people have to put up with every day. It makes black people go crazy and before they know it, they’re selling those guns they just purchased to the first thug they see. It’s all quite sad.

“Keith Ellison’s argument is that White store clerks should not have sold firearms to a Black man because they should have known he would use them in crime.”
Let that sink in for a minute.
The Attorney General who made his bones on White discrimination against Muslims and Blacks is trying to convince us that several different White men all should have denied the same Black man the right to buy a gun.
Seriously?
Forget the number of guns he bought in total – none of the individual clerks at the various stores could have known that (and anyway, is there an upper limit on how many guns a Black man is allowed to buy?).
Forget the fact he had someone with him during some purchases – aren’t Black men allowed to go shopping with their girlfriends or range buddies?
Forget the fact he was talking on the cell phone while shopping – when are Black men Not yapping on the phone – or what the parking lot security camera showed after he completed the purchase and walked out the door (were the clerks supposed to chase him down to tackle him in the parking lot saying “Gimme that gun, you can’t have it anymore”).
If the KKK were saying this, I’d understand. It’s just part of the racist hate mongering stereotype of All Blacks Are Criminals that hateful haters believe. Like the KKK. Like . . . Keith Ellison?
Blade gets the irony, he’s commented on it above. But for all you SITD lurkers thinking, “Where there’s smoke there must be fire,” help me to understand: under what possible set of circumstances would you stand next to the White counter clerk, point at the Black customer, and say: “I know he has cash in hand and passed a background check but don’t sell a gun to that Black guy, he’s likely to use it to commit a crime.”

The Russians have responded to the importation of cluster bombs by canceling the grain deal. Any Uke ship is fair game now.
Expect stories of starving Africans, and Germans.
GOOD JOB NEO-CONS!!!

What passes for penetrating and thoughtful analysis on Townhall website: if Trump is nominated, he cannot win, Republicans will lose the House, the deep state will continue to resist, Democrats will prosecute and Trump will be imprisoned by 2025, there will be dogs sleeping with cats, a plague of locusts… so pick a RINO candidate instead.

^ The details don’t really matter anymore, Bigman.
We’re reliving America in the 1850s, Spain in the early 30s, Chile in the 70s… The needle, so to speak, is moving towards extra- or non-electoral solutions. I’m getting accustomed to the idea of having a caudillo and living in Eastern Dakota.

Regarding whether liquor stores and such get shut for straw sales, I’ve heard of outlets being closed because of sales directly to minors, but not for indirect sales. It is as if prosecutors and regulators know very well that it’s hard to tell who might resell things illegally. And yes, same thing with guns. And having bought a gun or two with the Brady check, exactly how it’s “easy” to get that many is beyond me.
And my thought is that Carter knows this, but doesn’t care that he’s lying.
