Participation Trophy

Minnesota DFLers are giving themselves rotor-cuff issues patting themselves on the back…

…over, uh, this:

Minnesota came in one slot of Texas. I’m old enough to remember when Minnesota was overwhelmed with New York City. Plus ca change…

But what is the rationale for this list, from always-Democrat-friendly CNBC?

I’ll add some emphasis:

To determine its rankings, CNBC factored in metrics across 10 categories, listed here in order of their weight: workforce; infrastructure; economy; life, health and inclusion; cost of doing business; technology and innovation; business friendliness; education; access to capital; and cost of living.

So – according to a list that ranks stuff HR cares about well ahead of stuff Accounting cares about, Minnesota beats Texas…

…by one.

Wheeeeeee.

Congrats, DFL.

  1. We beat Florida, Texas AND Arizona, which explains why businesses continue to flock to Minnesota from those states.

  2. Each category is weighted based on how frequently states use them as a selling point in economic development marketing materials. That way, our study ranks the states based on the attributes they use to sell themselves.

Self-ranking from marketing materials? How scientific™! BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! /rolls on the floor, doubled up with laughter clutching at his sides/ BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. They could not even lie their way to the top! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

  4. Speaking of participation trophy’s…

The Russian Army has broken through the Ukrainian lines near Liman Pervy and is conducting assault operations in the vicinity of the settlement. Kupyansk is under heavy Russian artillery fire.

NATO gets a YOU. TRIED. ribbon.

A quick end, before Pedo Joe and the neocon war mongers send cluster bombs would be a kindness to Ukraine people.

  5. Minnesota & Wisconsin are alike as two peas in a pod.
WI taxes are a bit lower, and Wi does not tax social security income.
CNBC rated Minnesota #5, and Wisconsin #33.
Always look at the metainformation. What is published is not as important as why it is published.

  6. BTW, I am hearing rumors that Biden will soon announce that he will not seek re-election.
Could be a false rumor, but I can see how it could happen. Senile dementia is not treatable. One giveaway is that Biden usually doesn’t move his arms when he walks. People who have a relative with senile dementia see it in Biden. I am guessing Biden has moderate Alzheimers.
If Biden can’t run, the dems have a Kamala problem.
Pasty white, born to privilege Newsom wants the president job and Kamala is in his way. Even if Biden stays in the job & wins in 2024, Kamala would be Biden’s natural successor in 2028.
Lots of ugliness going to be seen on the D side soon.

  7. Back to the topic, it’s been one of my frustrations for years that a lot of the “best places to live” and “best places to do business” begin with the assumption that more government involvement is better, and hence the “best places to live or do business” always tend to be places with a lot of government.

  8. After Ukraine wins the war and kicks out Russia, I’m concerned about the future. I read articles suggesting they may want to rebuild. But using what method?

If they use bulldozers, cranes, and trucks, they’ll contribute mightily to the global warming crisis, all those carbon emissions. It would be much better for the planet if they were restricted to using shovels and wheelbarrows. After all, the ancient Egyptians built the pyramids with less, no reason why the Ukrainians can’t do it.

Lesko Brandon should attach conditions to the next round of arms shipments. “We’ll give you bombs but you must give up gasoline, diesel, and most importantly, charcoal briquettes.”

I wonder how many Ukes would say “F it, we’d rather be Russian than live like that.”

  9. ^ rebuilding should be extra exciting with all those cluster bombs sprinkled about.

  10. It occurs to me that the Dunce Philip’s tweet only has any power if Texas actually gives a rats ass about MN. I gotta think that the DFLers jacking off to the results of a biased poll are the only ones who care.

  11. jdm,
I’ve noticed a lot of Texas plates on cars and trucks this year and they’re not just Hispanic storm chaser roofers. I’m betting that they are liberals that needed either to find a safe haven of ignorant twits like Emery to commiserate with or they are bringing their minor children here to be mutilated under cover of I’ll written laws. After all, all of the butchers and baby killers have to stay together.

  13. jdm, agreed on the cluster bombs, but they’ve already got zillions of Russian land mines in the same areas. All in a day’s work for the sappers, I guess.
