Our Idiot Overlords, Part XVI

Michael Cohen – the leftist dweeb, not the Trump lawyer – on “gun violence”:

That’s right, Michael. And if you can’t trust the Serbian government, which has committed oodles of genocide in the past 30 years, and has frequent flier miles at the Hague Human Rights Court, to trust the civil liberties of a disarmed populace, who can you trust?

  1. This tweet is based on the fact that the MSM keeps most people and especially liberals ignorant.

I know that tweets or even tweet debates don’t usually involve the presentation of facts and stats but what is the law for possession of firearms in Serbia? There are, to my knowledge, very few, if any, Euro nations that are disarmed. All allow long guns of some type. Every single one of them has imported enough MENA criminals to have a lively black market in *all* weapons, auto and not, plus grenades. Some of those same criminals now have gangs and gang wars.

  2. It is too bad that it is impossible to have a useful discourse with a Lefty. Because I think the idea that the some European nation is attempting some grand political undertaking means that we should probably not do the same thing.
BTW, it will come as no surprise to most SITD readers that both of the recent shooting sprees in Serbia were done using weapons obtained illegally.
Also the Serbian president’s goal of banning civilian is not likely to work, many Serbians consider the “firearm ban” to be an excuse by the authoritarian president of Serbia to disarm his enemies and only his enemies.
“To understand this situation, you need to understand the nature of the regime and the political leadership,” Bjelos said. “The current regime is repressive and has been labeled as a hybrid regime or autocracy by various international organizations. The top leadership, especially the president, are rebranded nationalists and radicals. The modus operandi of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) is based on violence within the party and against citizens through usurped institutions.”

  3. MMP, I consider the left’s attempts to disarm in this country are also aimed at the opposition and anyone who would defend themselves against criminals who are given special treatment these days.

  4. Well, unless something changes fast, the communists running our state are pushing through expanded background checks and red flag laws. They conveniently didn’t allow any Republicans on public safety committee, because one Republican could have asked for amendments. Of course, since they lumped several other areas that required funding, like prisons, they are giving the out state and vulnerable commies cover for voting in gun control, banking on the probable fact that their peons will accept the vote because of the other stuff in it. Geez! I didn’t want the gun control in there, but we had to find these other areas. That’s when someone like me would throw it right back in their faces, because they could have removed it.

  5. The MN media runs interference for the DFL. DFL’rs say “Red flag laws work,” but as I’ve shown in a comment or two on SITD, they measure the “success” of red flag laws by the number of guns seized. They do this because you can’t prove a negative, you can’t count crimes not committed. In fact, in California, where they have had red flag laws since the mid teens, you can see no correlation between the number of guns seized and the number of gun crimes, including suicides.
So why do the gun grabbers want red flag laws?
They want to disarm law abiding citizens by any means necessary.

  6. It strikes me that if people won’t pay attention to the fact that tens of millions of people were killed by their own governments after being disarmed in Germany, Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union, Ottoman Turkey, China, Cambodia, and elsewhere during the 20th century, they’re going to have trouble grasping that the genocides by the Milosevic regime indicate that we shouldn’t trust the government in Serbia, either.

It’s the same kind of people who don’t grasp that when you’ve got crimes committed by someone who already illegally owned a weapon, more laws affecting the law-abiding probably won’t do much to help. I’m not a huge fan of Michael Savage, but he is correct in noting that all too often, liberalism is a mental disorder that impacts the appreciation of reality.

  7. Has no one figured out that the taliban defeated the combined forces of the United States using small arms and IED’s?

  8. They whipped the Soviet Union before that, MMP. And they did it on foot and horseback, and started doing it with 80 year old bolt action rifles.

They had something none if us have though; the will to fight for what they want.

In Weimerica, we like to say “There’s a line in the sand we won’t have crossed, by God!”

Well, sexual degenerates are grooming our kids for their pleasure. Your miserable state just enacted a law to actively support the genital mutilation of children for fucks sake!

Leftist reprobates are openly using a corrupt judiciary to pursue and persecute us, while they allow a dusky horde of violent, 75 IQ savages to run amok, unchecked. Our leaders heap scorn on us, while they stuff cash into their pockets. Our borders are a superhighway for drug and human trafficking; millions more 75IQ wretches pour in with their hands out. Our media and entertainment is an open air porn market; there is literally no filthy act a human being is physically capable of that isn’t being live streamed somewhere, 24/7.

We have federal secret police out there listening to everything we say; copying down everything we write (hi agent friendly! 🖕🏻) in preparation for that moment it’s time to snatch us up in the dead of night.

    And….nothing.

  9. Compare Afghanistan with Ukraine.

The ukes are being supported with state of the art weapons from all the worlds most advanced and powerful countries. Weimerica is providing real time surveillance of the battlefield and Russian troop placement and movements. Hundreds of billions of federal fiat currency pour in from all over the globe.

And they’re getting wiped out. Why?

IMO it’s because the mob bosses in Ukraine are much more interested in enriching themselves than in saving their people. Their cause is not just. They are fighting to preserve corruption and crime.

The people know this. They are not fighting to preserve their country; they’re fighting for their lives.

    They’re going to lose.

  10. Minnesota is really a purple state. The DFL’s “trifecta” in state government relies on an advantage of a single state senate seat that was won by ~500 votes. We’ll see if the voters punish the DFL for overreach next year. The states surrounding MN are much more conservative, Minnesota is the outlier.
In Wisconsin, since the D’s now have a one seat advantage in the state supreme court, and the D’s also control the Attorney General office, I am thinking that the AG will try to push the D’s agenda through the SC (the state legislature has a near veto-proof GOP advantage).
All of Wisconsin’s D advantage comes from Milwaukee, Madison, and a couple of tribal counties. The county where I live in NW Wisconsin, just 30 miles from the Twin Cities, voted for Trump in 2016 & 2020 by a 2:1 margin.

  11. We have a cabin outside of Webster WI. Rather RED up there. I like it!
