Urban Progressive Privilege: Alone

Re: Glad You’ve Discovered Light Rail Crime!

Of all the people who’ve been beaten, robbed and murdered on Twin Cities light rail platforms, it’s good to know you’ve paid attention to one of them, finally:

But clearly, you do not ride the light rail. I suspect you hitch a ride to the office with the state patrol, just like the governor. I’m gonna guess you haven’t ridden a train since long before you became Lieutenant Governor.

Just a quick tip from someone who rode the Vomit Comet (aka “Green Line”) day and night for a year and a half; when you’re out there on that platform, late at night, in the city you and the DFL created, you are absolutely, completely alone. Nothing there but you and God. None of your ex post facto happy talk is of the faintest bit of protection against The DFL’s Minneapolis.

To my credit, I figured it would be a victim like this, that got you to finally pay attention to street crime.

Sort of.

That is all.

  1. Ha! To quote her and several other, DemoCommies, some of them members of the LBGTQ mob;
“Thoughts and prayers are not enough”!

  2. It’s DEI totalitarianism. Every action, every occurrence must be seen only in its DEL aspect.

  3. First of all, well stated, boss.

Second, what is a transgender woman? A man dressed up as a woman or woman dressed up as a man?

Third, what does this, we will keep fighting to keep you safe, even mean?

  4. Long before the Green Line, I rode the I-94 route between downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul. The morning wasn’t so bad, but the evening ride was chock full of fights, screamers, domestics and the generous souls who shared their music at high volumes.

I grew up riding the 21A, the Selby/Lake line, so I was accustomed to it, but when the MTC proposed the Green Line, I thought, “you got to be kidding.”

Still I never envisioned a member of the trans community being subject to the same abuse as everyone else.

Just what kind of world are we becoming?

  5. Is the light rail a gun-free zone? If not, it’s your own damned fault you got hurt. Buy a gun, practice with it, carry it, and use it to stop an attack.

That will do a lot more for personal safety than “thoughts and prayers.”

Also puts liberals in a bind: if a trans woman shoots a Black man, who is the victim?

  6. Back when PJ O’Rourke was a sane person, he said something like “the difference between a liberal & a conservative is that when a liberal thinks of a public space, the liberal imagines a public park on a warm, sunny day, while a conservative thinks of a public restroom.”
In LA they responded to homeless camps by bringing in portapotties. Within days they were under the control of gangs who charged for entry to the private space to shoot up or have sex.

  7. Regarding guns on light rail, they don’t appear to be banned from my quick search, but one thing to note is that most of the places where one would go–work, etc..–tend to ban guns. So there is for most riders an implicit gun ban there.

Last time I rode–to a ball game in 2021 from Fort Snelling–I was rather stunned to see three armed police on the train. I’d grown up riding the South Shore through places like Gary, and even when Gary City Hall and the Genesis Center were in view, the conductor would amble through, generally 55-65 years old and 50 lbs overweight, completely unarmed. So it was somewhat jarring to see that when I’d not seen the same in far more dangerous areas.

  8. Was the victim even identifiable as trans? This is winter in Minnesota, and anyone transiting outdoors should be heavily bundled up. Victimization could have been based on any number of factors – being alone, being smaller, wrong place/wrong time – all of which are enough to make anyone a target in this urban paradise created by the DFL, and unworthy of notice by our elite, let alone thoughts and prayers.

  9. That the victim is trans gave this story more prominence in the media than would have been for a woman. (It must be difficult choice for the StarTribune, getting to write about trans victimization versus having to report about light rail crime.)

Once again, a trans-woman is more important than a woman.

  10. Still trying to figure out WHY trans have become the top of the victimhood food chain. What’s the end-game for trans worshipping?

  11. I disagree, JPA. I think that the end game is humiliate and degrade the population by making them publicly confirm something they know to be a lie, namely that you are arbitrarily assigned a sex at birth.

  12. MP, what you describe is a tactic, I described the strategy to an end-game.

  13. Lots of people jumping to conclusions about this assault with very little info to guide them (like the stupid Flanagan woman).
Tranny’s often have a lot of ‘issues’. This article from Unherd is an examination of the 11 trannys murdered in Britain, 2008-2022 (during the same period trannys had committed 12 murders).
The author of the piece, Tish Still, is trans-friendly.
    https://unherd.com/2022/01/the-truth-about-trans-murders/
Long story short, 2 of the 11 murders of trannys over 14 years were suicides wrongly included in the count.
    As for the rest?
Three of the nine victims were murdered by a violent punter while working as prostitutes; another was killed by their husband, who lived on her earnings from prostitution. Another of the victims died at the hands of someone who was also trans-identifying. Another was a gay man who cross-dressed occasionally, and the motive for the murder has been ascribed to both transphobia and homophobia. Two of the murders were linked to drug use.

  14. On Oahu there is a place called Hotel Street that is a notorious hangout for prosti’s serving the “young, dumb, and full of cum” residents of nearby military bases. The advice given to young servicemen was to check and double check the sex of the prosti before you picked one of them up. Lots of fights over “misunderstandings” as you may imagine.

  15. LG Flanagan, “We love you.”

I’d like to ask the LG what is the victim’s name? I’ve only seen him identified as a “trans woman,” never with a name listed.

And, of course, the obligatory, “The victim may have been targeted because they’re trans.”

  16. I thought “transexual” women “are women; full stop”…how would those aspiring rappers have known the woman was “trans”?

There’s mention of visible brain matter leaking out of the skull…if you’ve seen any of the thousands of videos from Weimerica on Utube lately, jumping on the heads of their victims is the current version of a “nae nae” among the vibrant community. Sounds like a normal, everyday robbery/beatdown on public transit, to me.

    So confusing….

  17. The incidence of murder of trans prostitutes reminds me of a column I read suggesting that a huge portion of “trans” people were in fact homosexuals angling for a broader pool of people to date. Combine that with the realities of prostitution–people coming in very intoxicated and lonely and such–and that just sounds like a bad combination, especially if the “trans woman” still had male factory equipment.

Don’t know if that’s what happened here, or whether the trans person was recognizable as their birth sex, but it is something where we ought to say “I don’t condone it, but I do understand why it happens.”

  18. According to crimewatchmpls:
Two of three suspects were arrested after getting on the LRT and exiting at the VA station where they were found with the victim’s purse and ID.
    Kevin Dewayne York, 23
    Keaten James Morris, 19
Each is charged with 1st degree aggravated robbery and 3rd degree assault.
The charges specify that the victim is a person who identifies as a transgender female, and officers were initially concerned that the assault was the result of bias. However, the charges do not reflect a bias crime.
Morris was out of custody on zero bail in several other cases. He had also recently been added to a Metro Transit trespass list for using narcotics inside of the LRT Lake Street Station. Records show this is the sixth Hennepin County booking for Morris since December.
York told police while on the way to jail that the victim was “slashing at people” with what he thought was a box cutter. The charges specify that the assault was captured on surveillance, but there was no mention of the victim’s actions prior to the assault being captured on video.

  19. yet again, MP does the work MSM refuses to do. More proof MSM just carries water and paints nails of their libturd overlords. Any bets this story will be memory holed in three… two… one… now that details about the perps have come out. Of course, Flanagan will not bat an eye, blame Trum, and move on apologizing to and loving next victim group du jour.

  20. AIUMMP, that lad was just getting in touch with his African roots…keepin’ it real.

  21. Have you noticed that there is zero evidence that the attack on the tranny at the LRT station was a hate crime? Zero. None at all. Absolutely none.

  22. AIUMMP, negroes are inherently incapable of “hate crime”… they’re victims…. Its in their DNA

  23. The lighting the victim on fire incident supposedly took place in Palestine, TX, in 2019. The psychotic, sadistic, would-be killer, Robert Thompson, was caught and sentenced to life in prison.
It wasn’t just the store owner he wanted to burn alive, he also bound with duct tape and doused with lighter fluid a random customer.
“Thompson then went to Shoe Carnival in Tyler to get a new pair of shoes and leave his old pair in the shoe store.”
    https://tylerpaper.com/news/local/man-who-set-customer-on-fire-during-palestine-store-robbery-gets-life-sentence/article_9278fb22-4d07-11ea-9572-8b2be473d9e4.html

  24. And a question for Mitch: Does the case of Robert Thompson make you reconsider your opposition to the death penalty?

  25. Hat tip to MP for providing the context left out by Flanagan and NPR. I’m not surprised. As long as thugs confine themselves to assaulting and robbing white cis people engaged in riding the train, nobody cares.

  26. crimewatchmpls twitter feed is essential if you live in or near the Twin Cities. The news programs don’t cover a tenth of the violent crime in Minneapolis/Saint Paul.

  27. After having taken a glimpse of the video, UMMP, it strikes me that Thompson was pretty darned lucky he didn’t set himself on fire with those pants down to his knees. We could be looking at a Darwin Award instead of the debate over life in prison vs. the death penalty.
