Let Them Eat Pasta!
By Mitch Berg
Anyone remember Mika McFeely? He’s sort of the Filene’s Basement version of Ed Schultz, another guy who got his start talking about grown men chasing balls around fields, and decided to go into being a political, talking head. He’s the Heitkamp family’s token liberal on KFGO in Fargo, and proof that the talent bench for progressive talk hosts in Fargo is even shallower than in the Twin Cities.
I wrote about him (checks notes), a little over 12 years ago, when he wrote easily the stupidest hatchet piece I’ve ever seen, about Mary Franson, during the 2012 elections.
Anyway – he came to Minneapolis over the weekend. Ironically, it was to see Les Mis, a play featuring an out of touch patrician class that attacks a plebaian class whose travails they neither share nor understand.
Oh, yeah – he had a great time!
In other words, he went to a show, with hundreds of other people, and then went to a tony restaurant on the south end of the gentrified North Loop. Back to the hotel – or on the road back to Fargo? – by 11!
And look – no crime!
Guess all those people talking about crime in Minneapolis are wrong!
Speaking of crime – tourist McFeely has an interesting perspective on recent Twin Cities history:
Not sure it’s “Anti”-Fa that’s shooting up crowds after bar closing on First Avenue.
But he’s getting a little warmer: “Anti”-Fa are the children of the Twin Cities bon vivant class. But they didn’t burn the Ordway, or Kenwood or Linden Hills. They burned East Lake and University – the places where immigrants and lots of entrepreneurs and workers try to earn a living.
But he didn’t go to a show on Lake, or Uni, or up at Plymouth and Sheridan, now, did he?
Well, I guess that settles it!

Why it was just the other day when I was walking in ankle deep ashes in Minneapolis near Lowery Hill. I actually thought I heard wild packs of dogs scavenging the dead bodies stacked up like cordwood near Loring Park.
In a similar vein—you spend years telling your readers how democracy is corrupt and voting is rigged, you elect a guy who is right now on his own social media network screaming the same in all caps, and you can’t figure out why your readers didn’t turn out to vote?
It’s a mystery!

I love the smell of late morning moderation ☕️

no masks required
no proof of vaccine required
no empty seats to social distance
it’s a freaking super spreader event
there will be bodies stacked on every street corner downtown
the hospitals will be overwhelmed with patients and
we don’t have nearly enough respirators
we will need to buy a warehouse
to serve as a backup morgue
damn that walz why isnt he
locking down the city
its almost
as if the whole thing
was a democrat hoax to terrify voters
into voting by absentee ballot
which are easier to fake
so bad orange man
would tweet
no more
sigh

There’s a strong similarity to MBergs post and the Minnesota GOP 2022 campaign messaging.
Loud noisy minority opinions..

I am trying to square reality with the Democrat narrative.
Democrat narrative == “We overincarcerate, esp. we overincarcerate BIPOC.”
Reality == “most urban crime, especially urban gun crime, is committed by people with multiple felony convictions released w/o a prison sentence or after serving a short prison sentence.”
I don’t think reality & the Democrat narrative and reality can be squared because they are using different metrics to answer the question “Do we over incarcerate?”
Democrats use the metric of “people jailed per capita compared to Canada and Western Europe,” while reality uses the metric of “Are their people committing crimes who clearly should have been in prison.”
As for McFeely, his experience is meaningless.

As summarized before the choice is between the democrats who are out of touch and the republicans who are out of their minds.
Elites on the Left believe they have universal values and are angry their base doesn’t buy it. Elites on the Right do what aristocracies have always done — keep the base busy with some kind of moral idea and they can take what they want.

Just a reminder that the Democrat base consists of the least educated, most imprisoned demographics in the US. Their policies reflect this.

This reminds me of urban progressives who make one trip up to the Boundary Waters and then consider themselves experts on how mining would absolutely ruin its pristineness. McFeely zipped in and zipped out so he feels he now has street cred with his hommies in Fargo. What a maroon!

Perhaps McFeely would have gotten a better idea of the level of crime in Minneapolis if he were to add @crimewatchmpls to his twitter feed.

I guess McFeely missed the incident where, after a car accident, an injured victim was robbed by
homeless peoplejunkies.https://twitter.com/CrimeWatchMpls/status/1602368153438359563

McFeely is more or less rejoicing that Minneapolis is not yet a cold Gary. One would figure that a “journalist” would be well aware of the differences in crime rates among city neighborhoods, but apparently that little distinction has not reached his mind yet.
But that said, it strikes me that when I talked with my stepdad in NW Indiana last weekend, he told me flat out that he’s not going to Chicago anymore–and his favorite haunts were all within sight of Grant Park. So it’s getting really scary how bad that city is getting under Democratic governance. I’m guessing that the Mini Apple is going to be following suit, barring repentance among voters/elected officials in the city.

There’s an article on the Strib today about EMTs consistently being shot at and assaulted as they try to provide emergency services, and that it happens so often they often don’t even bother to report it any more since nothing happens as a result. Several commenters on the article said this can’t be happening because violent crime is DOWN now in downtown, and besides, nobody actually ever really defunded any police. Other commenters – or perhaps the same ones – also say that anyone who doesn’t come downtown is a big chicken.
Yeah, well I used to be a strapping young man who paid attention to his surroundings, and I didn’t feel too threatened by the downtown scene; any reasonable criminal looking for a victim would tend to look past me for easier marks. These days I have gray hair and use a cane – I think my profile has changed, and I don’t want to test that out. And while “strapping” may mean something different to me now, my policy continues to be, “If I’m going somewhere where I think I might need a gun, I’m just not going to go.” Too bad for downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, too, because I still have quite a bit of disposable income left that the official thugs in the City Councils and state legislature haven’t yet mugged me for.

Assuming that what McFeely writes is true, it is a result of survivor’s bias. If he had been the victim of a carjacking or a robbery he simply wouldn’t have said anything. That is one reason anecdote is not data.

night, your comment puts me in mind of a quip by a famous gun writer, can’t remember if it was jeff cooper but seems right
he was asked: If you knew you were going to a gunfight what gun would you take?
his reply if I knew I was going to a gunfight I wouldn’t go

Ultra – if McFeely had been a victim of a carjacking or robbery, he’d be writing about “What is wrong with Minneapolis?”
December 12th, 2022 at 5:44 pm
NW, I disagree, he would be writing “How Orange Man Bad destroyed MSP” or “If only Guns™ were verbotten in MSP”.

State Troopers called for MPD assistance early Monday morning in #NEMPLS after responding to a fatal crash where they found homeless people going through the pockets of the dead and injured parties.

From keeping my ear to the ground I know that the Twin Cities gangbangers are increasingly using a kit that turns semi-auto handguns into handguns that fire off the entire magazine with one trigger pull. Incredibly dangerous, the shooter is firehosing 11-18 9mm rounds with no control once he pulls the trigger.
But McFeely went to Mpls and saw a show and ate some pasta w/o being robbed or killed, so it is all good.

More than 3,000 vehicles have been stolen in the city of Minneapolis so far this year — an average of more than 14 per day.
Not only is that a staggering number, it’s also a sharp increase over past years.
In 2020 and 2021, city data shows just shy of 2,300 vehicle thefts to this point of the year (2,266 and 2,289, respectively) — or three-and-a-half fewer theft reports per day. In 2019, vehicle thefts at this point of the year were barely more than half (1,567) of this year’s total.

This fool illustrates why I giggle whenever I read about some White, leftist scumbag getting the pasta beat out of him by a gang of negroes.
I especially enjoy reading about how they rack up the credit cards and use the ATM to drain the scumbags bank accounts after they tune him up and leave him leaking on the sidewalk like a busted bag of trash.

Just noticed all the empty chairs at that picture…its fucking empty. But that chud said the place was packed. Lol
Plus, those noodles look like shit.
rAT, tell us. As the official, 80IQ, pathologically lying, leftist scumbag, is it that you born fucking liars are attracted to the degenerate party, or does it just happen after low IQ people hang around with you for a minute?
No kidding, every leftist I’ve run across gets tripped up on lies sooner or later… It’s a pathology.
