I’m Old Enough To Remember…

…when the center-right Christian satire site [1] Babylon Bee got banned from Twitter for “misinformation” – for writing satire – and not a single media outlet lamented the erosion of freedom.

To say nothing of gundecking, at government request, stories from Mark Dayton’s health up through Hunter Biden’s kickbacks to “Big Guy”.

I’m old enough to remember when big leftymedia was incredibly blasé about public-private partnerships leading to de facto censorship.

But you’d have to be very young indeed to remember the day Big Leftymedia started squawking about being victimized. It’s a brand new thing. Emphasis added by me:

According to a report in The Intercept, Musk has suspended several notable left-wing accounts over the past week or so. A number of them were anti-fascist researchers and organizers who focused on documenting far-right activity.

Notably, the disabled accounts documented in the report were singled out for criticism by the far-right writer Andy Ngo, who Musk often publicly interacts with on Twitter. “Musk invited Ngo to report Antifa accounts’ that should be suspended directly to him,” the Intercept reported. In at least once case, Ngo seems to have succeeded at directing Musk to suspend an account that Ngo failed to get suspended by Twitter before Musk took over the company.

Just you watch. “Censorship” – of the left, natch – will become a topic, starting right about…now.

Democracy desperately needs a free, inquisitive press that holds all government’s feet in the fire.

And we objectively do not have that today. And people know it.

  1. While we are on the subject, I highly recommend watching The Munk Debates between Matt Taibbi, Douglas Murray, Malcolm Gladwell and Michelle Goldberg.

    Matt Taibbi was GREAT.

Douglas Murray, I have always admired – but never knew he had such a sharp tongue.

    Michelle Goldberg was an airhead.

I have always enjoyed Malcolm Gladwell — until now. His race-baiting was annoyingly repetitive and utterly ineffective… unless you were just as woke as he is.

I got to say, Gladwell and Douglas Murray got downright nasty with each other.

The debate is well worth watching.

    We need more of that.

  2. Yikes, forgot to add the resolution on the Munk Debates referenced above was: Be it resolved, don’t trust mainstream media.

  3. Trump got impeached the first time for trying to condition congressionally-approved military aid to Ukraine on Zelenskyy announcing an “investigation” of Biden corruption. He wanted the appearance of corruption, so he could wrap the media’s attention around it.

The laptop was basically Plan B. They wanted everyone to freak out about it for a few weeks. Normally what happens is conservative media shouts about it, mainstream media relents and covers the controversy,

It didn’t work this time. They’ve been pouting ever since. It’s a lot like a kid who loses a video game and starts slamming the controller, insisting it’s rigged or the system is cheating.

They’re gonna keep whining about it for years. It’s going to be louder and emptier than the Benghazi hearings. The scandal is that their clever propaganda effort sank like a lead balloon.

The media didn’t take the bait. No fair. That’s the scandal.

  4. Many of the real dickhead reprobates have created accounts on Mastodon. What they do not realize is, the people they hate have been there for years, and know all the tricks of the trade.

At some point, the reprobates will have to hire someone to mute the armies of trolls that attach themselves to them….and then the trolls will simply sign up to another instance, and continue the lulz.

It’s already happening; and it’s glorious.

BTW, none of them deleted their TwitR accounts…because.

  5. A friend of mine in Silicon Valley, has friends that work at Twitter. They are actually pleased at the changes there. Allegedly, over 20 child exploitation accounts have been disabled.

  6. OK, Emery, a genuine laptop of Hunter Biden’s amounts to come kind of “plot” to “get” Joe Biden? Keep in mind here that mainstream media outlets are admitting that the data are very real and incriminating. You may as well argue that it was a “plot” where Marion Barry got caught smoking crack with a hooker.

  7. Waittaminute, the Hunter Biden laptop? 51 of the most important national security boomers said it doesn’t exist. That it has all the earmarks of Russian disinfo. That laptop? Has anyone asked those frauds for a comment?

Or compensated that Mac shop owner in Delaware (who did the right thing and alerted the FBI) for his ruined business?

  8. boss, I read that over 44000 child exploitation accounts have been disabled. And that now they’ve started looking at the Spanish- and Portuguese-language accounts. Funny how Democrats seem to be OK with pedophilia.

  9. That the standard bearer of the Republican party is openly associating with neo-nazis and calling for the dissolution of the Constitution is of considerably more consequence than Hunter Biden’s laptop.

  10. ^ Hang on, Biden – a standard bearer for Democrats – hung around Senator Robert Byrd who was a member of KKK. Eulogized Byrd at his funeral. Strom Thurmond too.

  11. James Woods got banned for, among other things, posting pictures of Hunter Biden’s genetalia.

He was found in an independent study (go read his Wiki page) of being the single greatest source of disinformation (among media members).

He got banned for being an A4$ and deserved it. Musk choosing to “unban” him or seditionist Trump is his choice, but let’s not make up crises where there isn’t one. Biden’s campaign was a private organization in 2020 and Twitter was a private company with certain rules of conduct which many people violated. Trump’s campaign, and let’s remember Trump was in office so he IS acting in a governmental role if asking to have someone banned from Twitter (and his campaign DID), anyway, Trump’s campaign made similar requests, and they were generally honored.

If you violate someone’s EULA, you may suffer, it’s called private property rights and the free market.

  12. Emery, regarding Trump’s recent sins vs. Biden’s, a pox on both their houses, but the prospect of multiple foreign countries having a hotline for blackmailing a President seems to me to be far more significant than a former President associating with wackadoodles and calling for a suspension of the Constitution. Biden’s misdeeds are a current threat, Trump’s recent misdeeds will help ensure he never enters the White House again except as a visitor.

My conclusion is that Biden’s sins are more serious in terms of what the results could be.

  13. Haha. Look at Peevee splashing around and blowing bubbles in his cesspool. Wheeee!

    He’s adorable! 😍

But everyone that matters is in in the scam. Even the Normie’s see how they got sodomized by the reprobates. The leftist media machine is trashed, and there is no repairing it.

Elon Musk has billion$ at his disposal; and its not all fiat currency. He’s got some of the smartest people on the planet at his beck and call.

These TwitR Intel dumps are being chosen strategically, and carefully timed, to get the kettle boiling and to let the reprobates dig themselves even deeper.

    Low IQ sots, like Peevee.

    It’s fun to watch.

  14. You’re right, rAT. Giving the ADL any credibility was a gambit, that I’m sure Musk wasn’t surprised to see fail.

Guessing Mr. Greenblatt is in for some rough times ahead.

  15. He was found in an independent study (go read his Wiki page)

That sentence is more than enough to keep Teh little Peevee from getting any employment outside the public sector, forever.

These slobs have absolutely no sense of self awareness.

  16. Here is my comment pointing out Emery saying the Hunter Biden laptop story was “fake news” back in May of 2021:
    http://www.shotinthedark.info/wp/?p=83985#comment-241990
In my comment I also note that Emery’s May 2021 comment was basically a cut-n-paste of a comment he made on Oct. 31, 2020.
Emery is not a good faith commenter. Emery is a troll.

  17. Bot Boy and resident moron Emery talks about Musk being a giant a-hole?! Must be looking at pictures of Suckerberg, Bezos and other tech head leaders. Jack weed!

  18. The problem Lefty journos and other cultural types have is that Twitter is irreplaceable. They aren’t fleeing to google chat or facebook groups, they are lost.
Apparently it’s not so easy to build your own twitter after all.

  20. ^ problem is, as soon as $oro$ offers Musk 2x, it will be business as usual… no, I take it back, it will be 2x as bad.

  21. a free and fair twitter serves the interest of nobody in the deep state
lesko brandons reelection campaign least of all
so we can soon expect federal regulators
    to come knocking

say elon thats a nice car company you got there that tesla
and wow those starlink satellites in space are sooo cool
be a shame if anything happened to your approvals
because you were a national security risk
    for allowing misinformation
    on twitter

maybe you could use some insurance
we could lend you some staffers
to vet posts and give alerts
    when badthink arises
    so you can quickly
    and safely
    ban it

  22. Musk is not a reliable ally.
He needs those China bux as much Zuckerberg & Cook.

  23. ^ I disagree, Musk is nothing but reliable when it comes to hype and subsidies. There is no subsidy he ever turned down and he is master hypester (to get subsidies).

  24. I don’t mind the GOP going after Hunter Biden, provided they look away from Jared Kushner receiving billions from the middle east for his business dealings. And Ivanka receiving expedited patents in China.

Tesla and SpaceX were manufacturing companies where the problems could be solved by engineers, and whose assets were largely tangible. Twitter problems are social problems, and the key assets are, or were, the employees.

  25. Maybe all these fired people could start their own platform and cleaning companies. Funny how socialism can’t create it’s own success.

  26. people who
    work hard and make
something of value should be treated
exactly the same as a guy who is worthless
except for influence peddling based on daddy’s job
provided the big guy gets his 10% and the cocaine is good

the fact jared’s jerusalem accords brought peace to the region is irrelevent

  27. BH, it’s inevitable that Musk will move Twitter HQ out of California, probably to Texas. Whatever he’s paying for the building in SF, it’s too much to have to slog through human feces, feral negro thugs and miles of ordinances aimed at protecting degeneracy and criminals.

Musk is no conservative, but he’s not Woke either. Putting shithole 3rd world Cali in the rear view mirror just makes sense in every way.

  28. Boys, we’re way down the rabbit hole now.

Everyone has been wondering what the hold up is in releasing more TwitR files…well now we know.

Turns out, TwitR’s general council has been personally vetting the files, deciding what can go out and what can’t. Who is that masked man, you ask? James Baker; yes *that* James Baker.

Now, Musk shitcanned him this morning, and they’re going back over the last release to see what that piece of shit censored, and more files are due out this weekend. But jezubs, they’re *everywhere*, lads!

I’m guessing it’s 8/10 some of the spicier stuff got Akismetted, and I expect this next batch will have some meat.

  29. Musk is no conservative, but he’s not Woke either.
    Agreed, Blade.
Musk’s dream is to get to Mars or die trying. I think that is a foolish dream, whatever he is trying to escape on earth he will bring to Mars. Currently Musk seems to believe that a wealthy, liberal society will provide the only medium that will allow him to get there.

  30. Bummer about Herschel. But as US football hero disappointments go, coulda been worse. Coulda been OJ….

  31. AP? Wow.

Twitter’s former deputy general counsel James Baker, who was fired Tuesday by new CEO Elon Musk for “suppression” of information, has a long history of facing allegations of anti-Trump, pro-Democratic bias in the public and private sectors.

Substack journalist Matt Taibbi, whose “Twitter Files” were released on Friday revealed new details about the company’s suppression of the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story during the 2020 presidential election, shared an article on Sunday about Baker’s connections to FBI controversies involving the Trump-Russia probe.

The article, from New York Post opinion writer Jonathan Turley, said Baker was “at the center of the Twitter suppression scandal” and “is fast becoming the Kevin Bacon of the Russian collusion scandals.”

Musk responded to Taibbi’s tweet of the article by announcing that Baker “was exited from Twitter today” due to concerns over his “possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue.”

So, as I alluded to, it looks like Musk’s team has found Baker up to his old tricks. This asshole was front and center in the 2016 smear campaign, and everything that followed, including the 2020 election fraud.

These fuckers just.dont.care. And they don’t care because they believe there is nothing they can do that will incite a real insurrection. I believe they are wrong.

  32. Woolly wrote “Musk’s dream is to get to Mars or die trying.”

Given how things are going with Twitter, I’ll probably pass on moving to Mars.

  33. This is a must read, but as has been stated earlier, those who need to read it won’t.

Tom — your angst just encourages predatory people to attack you. Try not make yourself an easy target.

  34. Regarding going to Mars, the thing that strikes me is that to get there, it takes four years going through the solar wind, a highly radioactive “cloud” in space that will kill you if whatever shielding you have–and six inches of lead is not practical to launch into space–is not sufficient.

You’d be talking some kind of electromagnetic shielding, powered either by solar panels or a small nuclear reactor, I’d guess, and your life would depend on that system being darned near 100% online.

Having worked in electronics reliability for decades, ain’t no way I’m going on one of the first ten ships to Mars. Just sayin’. I don’t care if it’s Musk or a renewed Charles Kettering doing the design and development, there aren’t enough FMEAs that can be passed to get me on that ship.

  35. Lack of shame is not a key marker of a low IQ individual, although its often found there. Many cognitively deficient slobs, even the exceptionally retarded can express shame at their failings.

Instead, it’s the signature of the sociopath, who lacks empathy in everyone, even in himself. The sociopath will wade through oceans of shame, apparently unaffected, to inflict his unwholesome presence on others.
