Two Americas

As the late Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards said, there are two Americas.

Both of them might look at this video, of Chinese cops searching peoples cell phones for signs of anti-regime badthink.

One America thinks “get a warrant, bitch”.

The other America gets a tingle down its leg and thinks “imagine what we could do for vaccine, mask and distancing compliance!”

That second America is the one that’s nattering at the first America about “democracy”.

  1. Welp, you really think half (metaphorically or not) of America would respond to a police search of phones on a subway or light rail with “get a warrant, bitch”? Really?

If it were safe enough for normal people to ride the metro-area light rail, I would expect no change to that video except for race… hey! waittaminute, if metro-area residents knew that the light rail would be filled with aggressive cops taking care of bad people as well as bad thinkers, I would expect strong support and increased ridership.

  2. there is a third group of americans wearing our tinfoil hats thinking warrant schmarrant the cops are not actually searching for badthink they are simply going through the motions to intimidate people

the government already knows everything sent by or received on your phone
and where your phone is located at any given moment
and what your phone is hearing through the microphone
and who your phone is seeing through the camera

the ratio of human conspirators to electronic spies is 1:1

the more computers infect society the farther backward we must regress to avoid them

  3. The cult screaming “save muh democracy” are the real fascists.

Their latest catchphrase: stochastic terrorism. Right.

They will use that and “disinformation” to silence you, disarm you, and make you, as our host puts it: a subject, not a citizen.

  4. What I’ve observed is that there are 2 Americas in that there are differing ideas of who the police state should affect. Plenty of liberal voters support the traffic cams that were discussed on this blog earlier this week, but they seem to not support it if it is going to be in urban areas, affecting speeding drivers who are not white. Likewise, I’ve heard plenty of conservative voters tell me in 2016 that their hope was Trump would make this country a bit more like “those countries that lock you up and throw away the key, even if you just look guilty.” I could say this was just voters’ viewpoints, but we all know that politicians, at times, echo sentiments like this that chip away at our rights when they are in power. Elected Democrats call for gun control. Recently, Trump talked about his idea that drug dealers should be executed.

None of these ideologies fit with what I thought I learned about the Constitution and what I thought were the great things about our freedoms in the USA. Maybe I need to go back and read our Constitution. Or maybe we need to continue to hold our elected officials, regardless of party, to the standards set forth by our founders.

  5. on the other hand china is subject to the crushing weight of public disapproval which should force them to alter course any moment now

justin trudeau who invoked emergency powers to stop covid protesters from honking their horns going so far as to forbid anyone from giving them fuel food or funds now says chinese people have the right to protest the chinese governments covid regulations

i expect xi is quaking in his boots right about now
without the support of western dictators like trudeau how can china survive
hang in there china freedom is right around the corner

  6. Posobiec has an interesting twitter feed. I see that he recently tweeted that if DeSantis is elected prez, he will be the first Catholic president. Twitter put a notice on the bottom of the tweet that readers added the information that the tweet was false, since Jack Kennedy was the first president.
Posobiec’s tweet was a joke, of course, a comment on the Catholicism of Kennedy to some extent but mostly a comment on the Catholicism of Biden. e.g., in Posobiec’s opinion Biden is not a real Catholic.
So was this tweet misinformation? Not really, it was a joke. And this is what makes censorship so difficult. It imposes a meaning on words that the writer never intended and the reader may not share. Posobiec intended to poke fun at Biden, but the censor says Posobiec intended to give factual information about the religion of American Presidents and got it wrong.
Words and statements are slippery things, they don’t have a meaning outside of what the writer intends and what the reader understands. The censor is a third party who claims that the meaning of the writer is x, and this meaning must be judged as true or false. It is the height of bullying, it tells me that if it is my opinion that the president (whoever it is) is not legitimate, that my opinion is subject to some “fact check.”
Imagine if some of the language used by politicians to talk about misinformation was applied to a newspaper instead of Facebook or Twitter. A newspaper not allowed to print an editorial accusing the president of being illegitimate? Or calling into question the safety of government mandated vaccines? it’s absurd.

  7. “If it were safe enough for normal people to ride the metro-area light rail, I would expect no change to that video except for race…”

jdm, for White’s that’s true but if the race were changed from yellow to black, there’d be a fucking riot on the train. It’s not that negroes are more willing to stand on their constitutional rights, than White’s, it’s just that the first and only instinct for the overwhelming majority of blacks you’re likely to encounter on public transit is a rat pack.

    Cop’s or not, they dgaf.

  8. If I was ever in that situation, I’d be in for a beating…Oh, I’d let them grab my pocket spy, but it’s encrypted and it would take at least a good 10 minutes of waterboarding to get the key out of me.

  9. Pizza-gate Posobiec? Seth Rich Posobiec?

That Jack Posobiec? It’s almost like shame and conscience are vestigial organs you can have removed during a quick outpatient procedure

You keep shoveling that manure. There’s a pony under there somewhere.

  10. Ignorant Bot Boy spews nonsense, yet again. He only has his left wing media masters to give him his information and he takes it as gospel. It must suck to be so woefully stupid and laughably gullible, Emery. Sheesh!

  11. “China’s top zero-Covid enforcer says the fight against the virus has entered a “new stage” while state media have downplayed its risks, bolstering expectations that Beijing is easing its anti-pandemic approach just days after a wave of unrest.

Vice-premier Sun Chunlan said on Wednesday that the Omicron variant was becoming “less pathogenic” and pointed to higher vaccination rates, even as China recorded tens of thousands of new cases from its biggest outbreak.

Sun did not mention the term “dynamic zero-Covid”, a policy that has for nearly three years sought to eliminate all infections through mass testing, quarantine and lockdowns.”

Zero Covid policy is just one of Xi’s disasters:
    • The real estate crisis is a result of his “build and they will come” policy of development, where trillions were wasted on unwanted housing and infrastructure.
    • Bringing the business to heel (Jack Ma, etc.) has stymied entrepreneurship, innovation and international investment.
    • The global economic crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine had his tacit (or explicit, for all we know) blessing. Beside being a strategic disaster for his pal and him, it reduced global demand and caused high energy prices.
    • Saber-rattling over Taiwan resulted in damaging chip sanctions.
    • Over 20% of Chinese young people cannot find work — very scary if you consider that this is the working-age wave that is peaking due to one-child demographics, they should be creating wealth now to support their retirement in 30 years.
    • The 3rd term of “Emperor for Life” is resulting in capital flight and disinvestment in China.

Methinks China is not on a good path under Xi.
A bad combination of arrogance and desire “not to lose face” will be the undoing of the Chinese regime.

A stark reminder of why democracies, with all of their defects, are still better than the alternatives.

  12. Troll boy tries a poso squirrell!!!!

I guess since Poso posted it it’s fake.

Lulz at our troll, why don’t we have a smart one?

  13. Emery, who still believes that Trump conspired with Putin to steal the 2016 election from Hillary, says that Posobiec believes in false conspiracies theories.

  14. If covid was as deadly as they claim, there would be no need to scare the public into taking precautionary measures. There would be bodies stacked like cordwood on every street corner, people pushing carts calling “bring out your dead,” and public health officials who would point and shout like Tim the Enchanter: “Look at the bones!”

The public isn’t stupid. They can see it’s all hype. The question is when will they stop ignoring covid Karens and start shooting them.

  15. ”Methinks China …”

lol…rAT, taking a break from sharing his informed insights on Russia, directs his rodent’s intellect towards the Celestials.

You pathetic buffoon. You’re a treasure…too bad your family never saw it like that.

  16. The public isn’t stupid. They can see it’s all hype

I’d like to know on what evidence you’re basing this conclusion, please.

  17. Visual observation lack of masks
    Conversation with school kids parents
    Store checkout line guffaw
    Church members hugging

  18. We now that simply requiring a “cloth face covering” does not significantly reduce the wearer’s odds of contracting or transmitting covid.
In commercial flights, people, strangers, are packed cheek by jowl and sent across the US, often to get on other crowded airplanes.
Every heard of a covid outbreak that could be traced to a commercial flight?
Me neither. This was a very early data point that should have alerted “public health officials” that they had badly miscalculated the incidence of covid and the way that covid spread.
They ignored this information, and proceeded to shut down restaurants and other businesses to “protect” people from the chimera that they had created.
Take common sense precautions, quarantine the sick, and protect at risk populations.
I have literally been saying this since early 2020. I am not a “public health official” and the only medical education has been a human anatomy course I took at a community college years ago.
But I know what data looks like, and I know what lack of data looks like. It has been obvious for nearly three years that politicians and “public health officials” were making critical political decisions, literally life and death decisions, based on lack of data (aka their imaginations).

  19. Funny! The DemoCommies just installed another check box radical election denier in rat bastard Hakim Jeffries. He was one of the corrupt cabal stooges that questioned the legitimacy of Trump as President in 2016. It’s even funnier how Emery and his clown patrol are just fine with lefties denying elections, but not Republicans.

    UMMP;
You forgot about all of the lies about alleged WuFlu afflicted people lying on gurneys in hundreds of hospital hallways, waiting to be treated, because all of the rooms were full. Early on, two friends of mine who are nurses at Fairview and St. Francis respectively, told me it was all bull, but they were forced to go along with the narrative. I’m still waiting for a class action lawsuit against these liars by the relatives of actual ill people that were scared off from getting treatment and died.

  20. Not to rain on your parade, big guy, but the very same people who stood behind the masks, the lockdowns, prosecuting the violators, and encouraging the feeble-minded to panic for our collective benefit were comfortably re-elected – so comfortably they even got the Senate for the trifecta.

If/when these people teamed up with the local propaganda machine re-start the hysterics for a new Kung-flu, the flu, and/or RSV, have your friends and acquaintances given indications that they’re gonna stand up against that tide? The last three years have been quite revealing.

  21. ‘Arise, people who refuse to be slaves!’

The opening line of the People’s Republic’s anthem, which was written during the war against Japanese invasion as a call to unite and fight. Reportedly censored in Mainland Chinese social media at the moment. Yes — they are censoring their own national anthem.
