What A Difference Two Years Makes

Democrats, 2020: “It’s time to eliminate the Electoral College and make the Senate more “democratic” and reflective of the popular vote!”

Democrats, 2022, probably: “Uh…”

“…checks and balances and enumerated powers are good, Winston!”

  1. While true, the reason for the undercount in red states is Trump and his incompetence. Ironically the Democrats have consistently pushed for a more accurate census but Trump thought he could game it and it backfired.

“Been thinking about this too: elimination of a Black plurality seat in FL and denial of additional Black majority seats in AL/LA very likely to be the margin in the House.” ~ Wasserman Cook Report

  2. A case in point – this is what voting harder gets you. Nothing when the system is rigged. Just look at Maricopa and Harris counties. Oh, wait… nobody will be persecuted and convicted, so nothing happened. All par for the course and business as usual. Remember to vote even harder NEXT time!

  3. Tell me how, exactly, Trump saved a failing Republican Party? Trump has been an opportunity cost for the GOP. This will be true for at least a decade. Even after Trump is gone it will be “Trump” that people think of when they think GOP, to the GOP detriment, as,it was “Reagan” people thought of well into the 90s to the GOP benefit.

  4. yes its all trumps fault he is literally hitler dragging down the party and sinking all its candidates

    just like mccain
    and mitt
and desantis will be in two years
and every republican candidate who gets scapegoated after the election loss

because the problem is not systemic electoral fraud in the ballot counting

its poor candidates and bad organizing and needing to VOTE EVEN HARDER

then republicans will win for sure

  5. I’d also like to note how Gen Z helped make this outcome possible — the people with the most to lose stepping up. 75% of young voters below 30 believe abortion should to be legal.

This was a wonderful outcome, and may promise good things to come in 2024. Democrats (and Biden in particular) deserve credit for introducing sensible policies.

  6. kill your baby before its born
    cut off your daughters boobs
sell your gas guzzler to ride the train
put on another sweater in your home
and forget about going on vacation

thats the vision of minnesota that i voted for

    what, you didnt

    hater

  7. It is important younger voters step up as it is their future they are voting for. Also it helps counterbalance the views of older voters who are increasingly trapped in the past which no longer exists to some extent. This is not a criticism but does cause problems in some areas as the world moves on and evolves.

Ya but… ‘the youth always votes liberal, but as they get jobs and start families most of them vote conservative.’

This is a myth: most stay the same as they age. A very small minority does shift right. Rather than the cold hard reality wilting the allure, people may become more reactionary, like the proverbial grumpy older man or bitter woman.

  8. when young couples get married and have kids their valued dont change at all

thats why there are so many toddlers and grade schoolers walking to school in downtown minneapolis

they never move to the suburbs to give up nightlife in favor of safe life
they never vote on economic issues

thats why the metro ring counties have no young married couples
    they are all downtown minneapolis
    in convert warehouse lofts
    with 1.2 children each
    the kids left alive
    that they did
    not abort

  9. I’m very proud of this generation of young Americans coming through. The millennials were like couch potatoes when it came to civic life but today’s under thirties are really getting involved. Which doesn’t bode at all well for the far right. I think they have seen their high water mark.

This is what gives me hope for the future of our country. The younger generations taking charge while the older, angry GOP base fade into the sunset….
