Henco Sheriff David Hutchinson continues to get concierge service from the “criminal justice” system.
Minnesota’s Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) has suspended the license of Hennepin County Sheriff Dave Hutchinson for 30 days, starting next month…The board voted to suspend his license for 180 days, however 150 days are stayed on the condition he doesn’t commit any similar offenses in the next three years.
So – he got his whiz test delayed, he got a VIP booking involving no jail time, he got the lightest possible charge, low enough not to cause his cashiering from the Sheriff’s Department, and now he’s getting a slap on the wrist from the POST board.
Think a GOP politician, to say nothing of a private schlub, would get this sort of treatment?
OK, I’m not really surprised there is such a thing, but that license surprised me. What does that mean? He can’t go to work?

Regarding Mr. Hutchinson, it’s worth noting that it would be a breath or blood test that ought to be done for alcohol, not a whiz quiz–though I would concede the drug paraphenelia found in his car would indicate that he ought to have been subjected to drug tests as well. Well, it’s because we let it happen and we respond. And I am guilty of it, too. There are two options:
1) ignore the provocations; or
2) every time the troll appears, provide a uniform response along the lines of “up yours” or “blow it out your ass.”
David Hutchinson is corrupt. Those who are sanctioning him now are as corrupt as he is.
In 1978 the DFL suffered major electoral losses across the board in Minnesota. this has become known to political scientists as the “Minnesota Massacre.”
I’ve written here that the political atmosphere in MN today resembles what it was in ’78.
The crime the voters of Minnesota punished the DFL for in ’78 was arrogance. They were running the state as though it was a political racket.
Most people in Minnesota probably have a friend or a relative who has been busted for DUI. They know that the friend or relative ended up in a lot more legal hot water than Hutchinson, even if their DUI did not involve an accident, much less the destruction of an official county vehicle.
2022 is not 1978. I make no predictions about what will happen at the polls in Minnesota next month. But win or lose, the DFL is clearly not the party of Minnesota, it is the party of Hennepin and Ramsey counties.
