Our Betters Know It

We are living in a meritocracy that is utterly lacking in merit. And our betters know it. If the current leadership in Washington were confident in their abilities and in their support, you would not see FBI raids on political opponents and political show trials on national television.

You are under no obligation to like the Bad Orange Man. Likely a plurality of the regular writers of this feature are, if not actively anti-Trump, certainly Trump-skeptical. We all know him and, in a better world, he’d be back on television pretending to fire C-list celebrities.

We don’t live in that world. We have a hopelessly corrupt federal government and, at least in Minnesota, a kleptocratic political machine built for the amusement of the parlor pinks who support them. These are the same people who especially enjoy voting for Ilhan Omar, because doing so is brave and transgressive. Ask the local gentry and they will say it’s elementary.

If you’ve read The Great Gatsby, you’ll recognize the type — there are plenty of Tom and Daisy Buchanans in the world. They like what they like and they don’t like arrivistes from the outer boroughs. And they don’t care about the damage they leave in their wake, because they are, in the main, immune from the consequences. We send people like Betty McCollum and Vin Weber to Washington to dance for the Buchanans and, if their performances pass muster, they get to stick around long enough to make bank. And when the spirit moves, the politicos send us back a percentage the money they extract from all of us. And for the most part, those of us who follow politics pretend the labels our dancers wear really matter.

This construct has lasted a long time, at least 90 years and arguably all the way back to Grover Cleveland. All of it is getting shaky now, though. And in Joe Biden, we have the decrepit embodiment of the rot that has been building since the one-time Garanimals customers started learning their Gramsci alongside the trust-fund swells.

It can’t continue. And our betters know it. They are showing force, but they are not confident. They may be able to gaslight their way past November, but the reckoning draws near.

  1. That was fun. First of all, Vin Weber was not a name I was expecting. Well done.

Second, mentioning Grover C was even more interesting… he was the last president to occupy two places in the list of presidents, 22 and 24, yes? Almost like a premonition of sorts 😉

    Anyway, great read. Thanks.

  2. Betty McCollum is so stupid, she has to be reminded to breathe several times a minute.

    This is by design.

She is nothing but a (barely) living placeholder for Education Minnesota in Washington DC.

  3. “In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is … in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect, and is intended to.”

  4. Thank God these people are incompetent. These are the same ass clowns that organized the rout in Afghanistan.

  5. I’m traveling this week. This morning there were several members of the Alabama National Guard at breakfast in the hotel.

They were driving their 40’ truck to the Georgia state fair on a recruiting tour. I asked them how recruiting was going. They said they were being ignored completely, and had not signed up a single recruit.

One of the guys said he was counting the days until his enlistment was complete so he could leave “this shitshow”.

No one is interested in fighting for men in girls bathrooms, or child groomers, or a government being run by mentally I’ll degenerates and grifters, it seems.

  6. These shortfalls lead to bringing in people who are marginally qualified or not qualified. They end up in commands that focus on retention—re-enlisting personnel at the end of their contracts. The net effect is that every command has people who don’t belong there and who drag down those who do. This further hurts the retention of qualified people, not to mention the command’s ability to get the job done day-to-day.

I’m pro-military. But the ongoing expansion, throwing more and more money at it and assuming that they can add ships, etc., will end up hurting readiness. The military needs to slowly cut the number of personnel for a long period of time while upgrading equipment and reducing the scope of its missions.

    A 15% raise for E1-E5 wouldn’t hurt, either.

  7. Well said, Mr. D. I can only hope and pray that there is something left when our “betters” step aside. On the bright side, I see that there are apparently up to 1000 plaintiffs against the UK NHS’s Tavistock facility claiming that their children were rushed into puberty blockers and other “trans” hormone therapies. That is at least a huge portion of all the kids treated there, putting the lie to the notion that kids know that they’re “trans”.

  8. Listen to General rAT expound on his vast military expertise.

    Lmao…you fucking moron.

  9. I’m curious, bike. They haven’t done so for the last 50 years, what do you think will cause our “betters” [to] step aside? They seem awfully insistent of late, more so even than in the past, to act with increasing severity to hold on to their right to rule.

  10. I am curious. Looking at the election results, I cannot help but wonder how many REAL voters picked Ilhan Omar? And only voted once?

  11. Interesting doc, jdm. If I do my best to adopt the WEForums POV, the world is full of bad actors. These people may use the internet to basically carry on violent feuds based on race, ethnicity, etc.
But really big questions are being begged. The biggest is obvious: how does a truth-finding authority know what the truth is?
From the rest of the article, it looks as though truth is not really important to the author. The emphasis is on controlling “bad” speech, not untrue speech.

  12. jdm, I’m guessing they’re going to “step aside” when they’re, well, “nudged” a bit. The FBI raid on Trump is likely to founder on the rocks with a hostile jury. The mainstream media are losing readers like nobody’s business. More and more people are realizing that our public servants have their fingers on the scale.

It’ll happen. The question is whether there will be anything worth having when they go.

  13. ATTENTION! The CDC “ends recommendations for social distancing and quarantine for Covid-19 control, no longer recommends test-to-stay in schools”
    https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/11/health/cdc-covid-guidance-update/index.html
There are literally as many daily deaths in the US today as there were one year, when the CDC was still pushing its masking, quarantining, and social distancing guidelines.
These people know nothing. They cannot explain their actions in clear and concise, though they insist that they came by their action after clearly and concisely examining the date.

  14. It’s the Daily Fail, so take it with a grain of salt: “Biden’s history lesson: President was told the U.S. is facing a crisis similar to the tensions before the Civil War and the fascist movement leading to the Second World War in two-hour White House talk from historians”
Assuming the story is true, it explains why Biden has declared war on half of Americans (in whom all American sovereignty lies, according the Constitution).
If the underlying reality assumed by the “scholars” is true, can you imagine any weaker figure than Slow Joe Biden to deal with the problem? The guy has put on sports coats maybe a million times in the last 60 years. Now he can’t even dress himself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYwgZS3OkSA

  15. Now there is a huge move on the part of the MSM to say that the raid on Trump’s home was not a “raid.” If raiding Trump’s home was popular, you wouldn’t see people denying that it was a “raid.”
They went to Trump’s home, they took from it anything that they wanted to take. How is this not a “raid”?
If I went to your home with a few dozen armed guys, and took from it anything I wanted while making you sit down and allow it, would you call this a “raid”?

  16. Interesting dichotomy. Putin attacks Ukraine and it’s “Putin Delenda Est” and no argument can sway your determined perspective. The present regime of your own country, that might have somewhat more of an effect on your life than Putin or Ukraine, manifests dangerous authoritarian activities towards it’s own citizens and, well, it’s in need of a nudge so they will step aside. Hopefully.

  17. How is this not a “raid”?

I think you’re correct, UMMP, but I wonder if some of the dilution is also to settle down and soothe the angry who don’t much care for Trump. We don’t quite have a dictatorship yet where votes don’t matter, so if the Trump skeptical can be given an out like there were unaccounted for papers in secret stashes, well, that’s different.

  18. I will not take a position on Russia Vs Ukraine. History tells us that Russia is highly incentivized to control Ukraine, and Ukraine is medium incentivized to resist Russian control. Currently the resistance to Russian control is led by the Ukrainian elite. Frankly, Ukranian elites see a personal and class advantage if Ukraine is allied with Europe rather than Russia. Ukranian non-elites have historically felt otherwise. All of Ukraine is soaked in blood, best to tread lightly, if at all.

  20. Far too much of our tax money is going to Ukraine and we’re sending them weapons, too? WTF is all of that money going?!

Once again, whenever DemoCommies want to line their own pockets, there is no accountability for how it is spent and efforts to do so, are rebuffed.

Face it. Ukraine continues to be a place where the left launders taxpayer dollars to be given to their cronies. This has been true since 2014. Trump exposed it and was trying to shut it down, so he had to be destroyed before the unwashed masses came to their senses.

  21. BH, a Ukrainian cargo plane crashed in Greece recently; it was filled with military hardware…where do you think all that shit we sent over there has gone?

  22. And BTW, when the scope of Ukrainian corruption and theft becomes known, remember Patriots, you cannot lay this one on Pedo Joe; your conservative heroes in Congress voted for it.

  23. MP, re CDC, they also dropped unjabbed differentiation. Drip… drip… drip..

  24. jdm, why do you think that a person who believes Vlad should just step aside would think otherwise of the bettors. Sounds like a solution for Utopia – “step aside”, no?

  25. For reference, the plane was carrying Serbian-made weapons that were being sold directly to Bangladesh. The Ukrainian connection is simply the carrier.

Serves you right for going to pravada,ru for all your news, Dullee.

Personally, my hunch here is that corruption in both Russia and Ukraine is driven by the same squad of KGB operatives that gave sweetheart deals to their buddies, creating the kleptocracy that plagues the whole region. Along the same lines, the fierce, spirited resistance of Ukraine cannot reasonably be said to derive from the motivations of the elites. It is the middle and lower class, and that suggests that the days of the KGB kleptocracy in both countries are numbered.

  26. No interest in getting into the ongoing dispute between BB and BN in re Ukraine, but I agree with JPA and JDM — there won’t be any stepping aside. We don’t do peaceful transitions any more in this fractured land.

  27. “For reference, the plane was carrying Serbian-made weapons that were being sold directly to Bangladesh. The Ukrainian connection is simply the carrier.”

Sure, they’re rotating their inventory…just like any retailer.

No doubt they’re saving the good shit for the Syrian market…plenty of Iranian cash there.

Zelensky and his pals are gonna need a cargo plane to get all that cash out of the country in a few weeks.

Be a shame if someone shot it down.

  28. Seriously, Delenda, tell us the fact that Ukraine is selling weapons *from anywhere*, while they’re supposedly fighting for their lives doesn’t give you pause.

Yes, this is an IQ test, but don’t be offended…it’s warranted.

  29. Mr. D, there’s no dispute between me and Delenda. I’m not trying to win an argument with him; he’s clearly too far gone.

My purpose here, as always, is to further educate those still reachable.

  30. Yes, Dullee, when you quote “Nairaland” (hope that Nigerian prince you gave your bank account information to comes through with that cash!), the same one that engages heavily in QAnon conspiracies, you are going to reach so many reasonable people, it’ll make your head spin.

You keep using those awesome sources and reading them just as carefully as you tend to do, Dullee. Hey, loved your consulting work for air defense at Saki, by the way! Putin Delenda Est!

Back to the question at hand, it strikes me that the downfall or at least reform of our ruling classes, our “betters” as it were, can be hastened a lot if we learn to walk away from the many nonsense artists like “QAnon”. When we cite the nonsense uncritically, we lose credibility.

  31. The question level headed people are asking is “why isn’t the US media following up these stories? Why is Ukraine exporting arms while they’re fighting for their lives?”

Brainwashed boomers are not level headed people.

  32. Because Ukraine wasn’t exporting arms. Serbia was.

Pro tip; find an article from a reasonable source (Nairaland and Qanon and Pravda.ru do not count), read it for comprehension.
