Play Your Bets

I have no idea why it Michael Beschloss a blue check.

But let’s place a little bit, if not with him then with ourselves:

It’s entirely possible he’s right. Abortion, and abortion alone, could Blunch watch polls today say will be a red wave.

But if it doesn’t?

What is the opposite happens? What if The “Rod wave” actually happens?

Will that be a referendum on the Supreme Court?

I’m going to post this for the morning after the election, just to make sure I ask Beschloss, if that’s what happens.

  1. As the economy gets worse and the inflation reduction act actually worsens it, abortion will be the last thing voters will worry about. Now that all gains in income have turned into a net loss and more people have to decide between food and heating their houses, because they can’t afford both, they’ll take their anger out on the morons that passed it. If the red wave doesn’t happen in this cycle, by 2024, the impact of those 87,000 additional IRS agents, will have bankrupted enough small business owners and individuals, that the same anger will take place.

  2. It bears repeating that overturning Roe v Wade was about returning power to the states to decide, not an overriding decision about abortion. Try explaining that to a liberal though.

  3. Wait a minute! I thought Fauci was the King of Unfalsifiable Statements!

  4. That Beschloss statement is nonsense. He states that FDR didn’t run against the SC but interpreted his (electoral college) victory as a rebuke to the SC. OK, politicians have been known to enhance the significance of their victories; I think the Bidens did this.

But how does this apply to 2022? The victory or rather the various congressional victories haven’t even occurred and yet the significance of those victories is being teased. Is Beschloss promising a blue wave? Because of abortion? During a recession (depression, less than completely optimal economic climate)? Good lord, the man is nothing more than a Democrat activist with a tie to make him look scholarly.

By the way, if you’re interested in electoral politics, look up the wiki/infogalactic page about that 1936 election and see how much has changed, politically-speaking. Maine and Vermont were rock-solid Republican and most of the Deep South was just as solid Democrat. There was also something 3rd party-ish going on the North Dakota, but I didn’t investigate.

  5. Mitch, your text to speech bot is out of control or else you had way too much to drink and were slurring real bad.

  6. Within 30 days of Dobbs elected republicans doubled down on eliminating access to abortion, forcing women to cross state lines to access healthcare for a failed pregnancy.

There is a certain kind of malice that goes along with denying a woman healthcare.

Europe has a perfect model and we should use it. 12-15 weeks with no obstacles and later for rape, incest, health of the mother or disabled
fetus. No democrat is advocating for different.

  7. Unbelievable—moderation purgatory. MBerg might want to consider listing the exact words and or phrases that trigger being temporarily canceled.

  8. “Is Beschloss promising a blue wave? Because of abortion? During a recession (depression, less than completely optimal economic climate)?”

That’s wishful thinking. Economy/inflation change rapidly whereas these laws stick around a lifetime.

  9. I’m going there. i couldn’t figure out why this guy was all over public television. Then it hit me—– Beschloss is/was a pretty face with a soothing manner that would make the ladies swoon and make history look sexy. That is the only reason he is on the TV. The guy is a total nincompoop. Why waste your time on him.

  10. These fuckers are off the edge. All I see on lefty cesspool internet sites are “hey; here’s why we’re not gonna lose!!!” They’re going to get their asses kicked, or kick off CWII with another steal.

Everyone with an IQ >90 hates the Degenerate party, Biden, and hates what Biden’s handlers are doing.

  11. When you read an Emery comment you need to remember that Emery predicted that the Brexit vote would fail, that Hillary would win over Trump by a landslide, and that the Mueller investigation would deliver evidence that Trump had colluded with Putin to steal the 2016 election from Hillary.
OTOH, I predicted, in a comment here on SITD back in April of 2020, that if the “lockdowns” continued we’d see civil unrest by June 1st, 2020.
The George Floyd riots began on May 26, 2020.
