Dilemma

On the one hand, I try not to spend much money in MInneapolis. And riding the Vomit Comet, or taking my car, downtown isn’t something I do lightly anymore. Of course, I don’t like to reward First Avenue for their demented vaccine policies or having soaked up a bunch of transfers of taxpayer money to them during the pandemic.

And while some of the best memories of my life took place in that building, the staff and management don’t much care about that, or them.

On the other hand:

There’s a part of me that wants to reward them, in some small way, for packing the gear to offend the alphabet people, while in downtown Minneapolis.

Decisions, decisions.

  1. Hope security is good for Mr. Chapelle for many reasons, from general lack of policing to protecting him from the politically correct.

  2. Blade;
I know. Normally, I wouldn’t go there, but this has the DemoCommies wetting themselves and I respect Chappelle for standing up to them. If I can put a couple of bucks in his pocket, I’m OK with that.

I’m also going to St. Paul to the Hope Breakfast Cafe to support Brian Ingram. He’s testifying in congress, at Tom Emmer’s invitation, to call out what the rising crime rates in the Twin Cities are doing to his business and employees, including the fentanyl overdose death of his 24 year old chef. Incidentally, he was offered a restaurant in Minneapolis for one penny and turned it down.

  3. Of course people on Facebook and Twitter blew up, it’s what they do.

Dave Chappelle is one of the finest comedians in all the history of the unique art form which is stand up comedy. He also deserves credit foe the way he challenges his audiences.

  4. I had friends that went DT back when Trump did a rally. No problem getting into the venue, but it was down right dangerous leaving. The place is a open cesspool. I won’t go there even if armed. Chappelle could probably sell out one of the Indian casinos or similar venue. Why spend the money in the socialist/commie hell hole that is Mpls?

  5. Boss – you support Chapelle, and the venue gets a cut, but you don’t pay the parking fees, food and drink taxes, or risk involuntary reparations.

  6. Problem solved, lol!

Dave Chappelle show canceled by Minnesota venue hours before gig following criticism

  7. Unreal… emphasis mine. You just cannot make this shit up!

“To staff, artists and our community, we hear you, and we are sorry. We know we must hold ourselves to the highest standards, and we know we let you down. We are not just a black box with people in it, and we understand that First Ave is not just a room, but meaningful beyond our walls.”

“The First Avenue team and you have worked hard to make our venues the safest spaces in the country, and we will continue with that mission,” the statement continued.

We believe in diverse voices and the freedom of artistic expression, but in honoring that, we lost sight of the impact this would have. We know there are some who will not agree with this decision; you are welcome to send feedback.”

  8. I call complete bullshit on this one………

Do these people not remember the catchphrase “Don’t want one? Don’t get one.”?

Well, same concept as purchasing a tix for the DC show.

Damn. Why are we kowtowing to this crap?
