    Kotkin is dreaming. The far left has purged the moderates from the Democrat party. The donor base of the Democrat party is completely woke, they do not believe in diversity, and the donor base picks the candidates. Can you imagine the teachers Unions and the Hollywood and business elite backing off even a millimeter from their extremist agenda? They will be furious at the voters, they will never engage in self-criticism that will lead to moderation. Obama was the furthest Left president ever elected in 2008, by 2012 he had moved further to the Left, and Biden is more radically Left than Obama ever was.
    Poll after poll shows that the Democrats are in for a historical shellacking this fall and their response is to move further left. The AOC wing of the party promises to primary any Democrat who strays from the woke line, and they mean it. They want ideological purity more than they want to win elections.
    Look at the prominent Dems who are bullying Joe Manchin. Trump took WVa by more than a 2:1 over Biden in 2020. The anti-Manchin Democrats do not want Manchin to represent his voters, they want Manchin to spit on them.
    The Democrats already know that they are going to lose big in November, and they have not changed at all. They will not wake up on the morning of November 10th, survey the wreckage, and decide to moderate.
