Solidarity

On Sunday, Governor Walz declared “solidarity day“ with a population whose home was invaded, looted, pillaged and burned.

No, not Lake Street or University Avenue.

I know, I was confused, too.

Anything to deflect away from the unrolling disaster that is the Metro…

SIDE NOTE: Have you never noticed how the correlation between “People who use the phrase ‘stand in solidarity with…'” unironically and “irreparable douchebags” is just shy of 100%?

  1. “ People who use the phrase ‘stand in solidarity with…’” unironically and “irreparable douchebags” is just shy of 100%”

That’s probably universally true, but it’s 100% true in this case. A bigger assemblage of assnozzles has never been seen. The Ukrainian flag has even usurped the various sexual degenerate flags for the time being.

    Said it before.

    If it’s not related to:
    – stopping the millions of 75IQ Guatamexidorians flooding across our Southern border and sending the ones already here back

    – securing our completely compromised electoral system

    – putting Team Fauchi ™ in jail (all of them)

    – draining the 5 acres that are set aside for our garden, but are currently flooded at my compound

  2. Wait, wait! It makes sense now. Governor Walz says Minnesota stands in solidarity with Ukraine. Ukraine needs guns. John Marty wants to take your guns.

To send to Ukraine to fight Literally Hitler Putin, while simultaneously eliminating crime in Minnesota by getting guns off the streets. Genius!!

I’m certain all Minnesotans will be happy to give up their firearms for a better Ukraine. I know I would be, if not for that tragic canoe accident . . . .

  3. What is the point of this? The sanctions against Russia and the military aid to Ukraine? Has Coca-Cola issued a set of demands? How about PayPal?
To paraphrase Zappa, we are led by people who can’t think into regions they don’t understand to achieve goals they can’t define.

  4. What’s the point? To show everyone that we’re Virtuous. Didn’t you see our signal? It shows We Care and that makes us morally superior to people like you, who don’t care about the things we care about.

What, do we need to convene a drum circle and group hug, possibly with giant papier mache heads? What’s it take to get through to you that WE CARE, dammit.

  5. Which brings to mind another vital issue, what is the Minneapolis City Council’s position on Slovenia?

  6. Virtue signaling is not trivial. But what you are really signaling is usually which groups you belong to. Every group considers itself virtuous, Walz is signaling that he stands with the American establishment.

  7. What, do we need to convene a drum circle and group hug, possibly with giant papier mache heads? What’s it take to get through to you that WE CARE, dammit.

    Hashtags would be nice.

Of course! Why didn’t I think of that?

    Betty, you’re a genius.

  9. A Quillette interview with Sean Maloney, who is with the Royal War College.

Despite his name and affiliation, Maloney sounds American & seems quite knowledgeable about what is going on in the region. Take it with the usual grain of salt, fog of war, etc. But I will keep my eye on what this guy says and test his accuracy.
Maloney says that this will be a long slog, with much violence done to and by each side, and Putin will not relent.

  10. What about the Ruthenians? WILL NO ONE THINK OF THE RUTHENIANS!?!
