Back In The 90s…

By Mitch Berg

…liberals of the type we call “progressives” these days got very tired of me pointing out the irony that their side was the one obsessed with one level of “class warfare” or another…

…but that on many issues (guns, taxation, property rights), theirs was the patrician side of the “debate”.

It’s even more true today.

The Ottawa PD is issuing citations to people muling fuel for the truckers. They’re being charged with “Mischief”.

    In Moscow it’s called “Hooliganism”.

  2. Emery Says:

I don’t think Republicans can take much credit for the current state of affairs. The credit for Republican success is owed primarily to the Democrats.

The American left were lucky that their opponent in 2020 was the worst president in history, who was so clearly unfit to govern. However, unless the American left accept that the politics of race and cancel culture are both divisive and unpopular we may actually end up there again.

  3. Joe Doakes Says:

    Okay, I give up.

How is that comment not a threadjack?

  4. AllenS Says:

So, Emery, when did you stop beating your husband?

  5. Mr. D Says:

    JD,

Mitch is ultimately the arbiter of what’s a threadjack; personally, I don’t think it’s a threadjack, but it is an example of the Emery method. And since Mr. Lake Home fancies himself a patrician he is duty-bound to namecheck the tangerine Voldemort.

  6. Emery Says:

^!I suppose if you wander so far right you need to lean left to stop falling over.

  7. Joe Doakes Says:

    Agreed, Mr. D, it’s Mitch’s blog, Mitch’s rules.

But to my way of thinking, a comment should bear some relationship to the post. This post is about Progressive hypocricy. They always claim to be working ‘for the little guy’ but then support policies for the bigshots. They’re the ones going unmasked while wait staff mask up. They’re the ones extolling flaming riots as “mostly peaceful protests” but now excoriating grandmothers touring the Capitol as Pearl Harbor bombers. They’re the ones saying “Workers of the world, unite” and now are demanding martial law to rid the streets of workers’ bouncy houses.

So how’s the E-dog’s comment related to that theme? Just can’t see it.

    In Moscow it’s called “Hooliganism”.

It would never happen in Moscow

  9. justplainangry Says:

What police does will be the tell. So far they had been very hands-off.

  10. Night Writer Says:

There’s no better illustration than this video Hinderaker shared of actual scenes from the trucker “occupation”, accompanied by the soundtrack of Trudeau’s pearl-clutching misinformation:

NW, this one is better. Just keep chanting to yourself: “J6 was an armed insurrecshun and its participants were there to kill and overthrow goobernment, the worst terrorist act on US soil, EVAH!” Fucking agent provocateurs.

  12. Mitch Berg Says:

Emery, I don’t see how that comment is anywhere close to on-topic.

If you don’t provide a coherent defense for its topicality, I’m going to nuke it.

  13. Emery Says:

    You’re the editorial board …
    Any plans to address this?

Whoa Mitch! You better get RIGHT ON IT! PRONTO! OR ELSE!….

  15. Emery Says:

^ Pro-tip — your cap lock is stuck. In your case I believe in the inalienable right of intellectual down-punching.

  16. Mammuthus Primigenesis Says:

    More like down fisting.

  17. Emery Says:

^ What you and your wife do in the privacy of your home is not my business.

  18. Joe Doakes Says:

“Yes, I broke the rules, but so did someone else. Unless you punish Everybody, you cannot punish Anybody. Because it wouldn’t be fair.” That line always works for me in Traffic Court.

The odd part of E using that line here is it’s the exact opposite of the point of Mitch’s post. Patricians don’t take that line. Patricians say, “Yes, I broke the rules but the rules don’t apply to me because I’m Important. I don’t have to wear a mask.”

  19. Mammuthus Primigenesis Says:

We know from the principles endorsed By Emery that SITD belongs to Mitch, it his work, and he is free is ban commenters or delete or edit comments for whatever reason he likes. He has arbitrary power to do this, he is not bound by any rules imposed by anyone, including himself. He is not compelled to be fair or consistent in what comments he permits or forbids.

  20. Blade Nzimande Says:

I’ve figured out how to doxx rAT.

Scour posh, Lake Front neighborhoods, and look for a degenerate wandering around with a tampon taped to his fore head.

Alternatively, one could visit ER’s, show nurses a picture of Duane Shrute and ask “Is this your dad?”

  21. Scott Hughes Says:

I believe he’s just a troll, more and more I try to skip by any comment Emery may make.
