A Quick Christmas Announcement

I’ve always tried to keep a fairly hands off approach to my comment section.

I mean, it took me five years of escalating warnings to ditch the, in retrospect, utterly useless Dog Gone. That’s how hands off I try to keep things.

I’ve always figured that anyone who is still reading blogs is probably at least nominally an adult.

In recent weeks, unfortunately, that has yet again proving to be the case.

So I’m going to take this moment of Christmas cheer to pass the word; in the new year, I will be curb-stomping thread jacking without mercy.

More details to come.

Merry Christmas, and I’ve had enough.

  1. My thoughts are licensed by someone else and a nondisclosure agreement prevents me from writing about it.

  2. Alleluiah! Behold a Christmas miracle! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all and may trolls be relegated to the filth under the bridge where they belong.

  3. Use the passive, voice, MBerg, instead of stomping on off-topic comments, assert instead that you are “quarantining” “problematic” comments.
    “Problematic” is undefined.
“Quarantining” a comment is simply removing it from public view for an indefinite period of time while its problematic content is, not judged, but evaluated.
This evaluation will be done in an “appropriate” manner using “best practices” with input from “stake holders.”

  4. You must act. This is a safety issue.

Disagreement with blog content is violence. Worse, misinformation is, by definition, false information. False information leads people away from Truth, into error and sin, the wages of which is death. Commenters posting misinformation are committing attempted murder.

Don’t hesitate to act. You have no choice. You must ban, for the good of all. And besides, they deserve it. They brought it upon themselves. Assassins. Wreckers. Saboteurs.

    Oh, and Merry Christmas.
