Bag This
By Mitch Berg
Two months ago, an arrogant GOP district committee tries to hand-pick a very blue candidate for a very purple district. Very red backlash comes up barely short, finishing up barely behind the Democrat, and going 3:1 against the very blue “Republican”…
…and the media and the lefty talkingpointbots portrayed it as a referendum against conservatives – one of which Dede Scozzafava was not.
Today – uninspired Democrat committee picks a very blue candidate in a very blue district. A district that’s been in Democrat hands for two or three generations. She is upset by a Republican. One that came out of nowhere within the past month.
Nope. No referendum there.

Rachel Maddow and Chris “Thrill Down My Leg” Matthews concluded that Coakley lost because she’s a woman. Yep, sexism is the only possible answer.
That degree of tunnel vision is pathological.

I won’t say this is a game-changer in the historical sense. But I will say it’s cold water in the faces of people who’ve been living in a fantasy world for too long. Their future history will depend on whether they heed the warning.
On second thought, go back to sleep, libs. Nothing to see here.

Kermit, in a way that is true. Indirectly. Word out there is that the reason she won the Democrat primary is because she is a women. Those wacky progressives chose identity politics over the most qualified candidate. In other words, she didn’t loose last night because she is a female, but the primary reason she was in the race at all was because she was a female.

“She is upset by a Republican.”
A very moderate Republican, backed by other moderate Republicans like Guilliani and Romney. Ed Morrissey has a great insight into what it’s going to take for Brown to hold this seat.
We need to make ample room in the GOP if we want to win more seats (and hold them) in Blue districts.

Even Obama has to admit it’s a little ironic that the Boston Tea Party occured in, well, Boston Mass…
One of our first steps towards freedom occurred there. Is it happening again?
We started out as a nation of teabaggers!

A “very moderate Republican”? In his acceptance speech last night, Scott Brown this:
I will work in the Senate to defend our nation’s interests and to keep our military second to none. As a lieutenant colonel and 30-year member of the Army National Guard, I will keep faith with all who serve, and get our veterans all the benefits they deserve.
And let me say this, with respect to those who wish to harm us, I believe that our Constitution and laws exist to protect this nation – they do not grant rights and privileges to enemies in wartime. In dealing with terrorists, our tax dollars should pay for weapons to stop them, not lawyers to defend them.
If that’s moderate, then let the moderation flow like a river.

“If that’s moderate, ”
I wrote “moderate Republican”.

Chuck, I completely agree with you about the identity politics in that race.
There were better qualified male candidates, and one of them should have been in the general election, not Coakley. I don’t know enough (yet) about the background of that primary, but it should be interesting.
A statement I make as a woman, and a feminist.

Why can’t you just make a statement as an American and not judge based on race or gender?

Another of Obammy’s nominee’s goes down in flames.
Southers wanted to unionize the TSA. Also when he was an FBI guy he used the powers of his office to spy on his ex’s new boyfriend.
