The Duration

A friend of the blog emails:

This just has me laughing. It will be interesting to see who wins here.
Before the police department was uncool, white urbanists applauded police presence at this Starbucks because they periodically would show up in the bike lane and felt like the police kept them safe.
Now the woke white “queer” employees think their customers, who this article notes are majority Black, might be uncomfortable with the police presence, even though the customers have continued to show up daily to get their morning coffee.
St Paul desperately needs businesses to stick around, so how will the current anti-cop, anti-car council react? (Rhetorical question- we know they’ll stand with the employees-they think the city can prosper on rental units and non-profits alone).
Starbucks will probably be the winner, because they can easily fire their employees, moved to a suburban location, and they’ll still have business.

I wonder how far people in St. Paul need to be pushed, before some sort of backlash happens.

The answer, so far, seems to be “that is a barrel that has no bottom to scrape “.

  1. The Highland Macgroveland people call it Carbucks.

The wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth when this went in a few years ago.

The business was so successful they needed to hire cops to direct traffic.

So, they hate cars and cops. The police station is about a mile away on Hamline. If they need a police officer, one can walk over from HQ to respond.

  2. St. Paul has a zoning ordinance. As far as I know, the Snelling/Marshall area has no zones where businesses are permitted to operate unconditionally; instead, every business in that area must apply for and be granted a Conditional Use Permit which covers things like hours of operation, parking, noise, odor, glare from lights, and yes, traffic safety, to minimize negative impact on the neighborhood.

A violation of the conditional use permit is grounds for revocation, after which the business lacks authority to operate and must close its doors. Failing to provide a traffic safety officer is a violation.

Everybody else in town has to comply with their CUP, make Starbucks do it, too, or shut them down. Plenty of other locations to get coffee without causing a traffic hazard to the public.

  3. I love this type of behavior.

Cops are basically uniformed thugs. As more and more succumb to the pain/profit deficit and quit, the animosity they hold for leftist reprobates will grow.

Their training and ferver for the fight will be valuable during CWII. I’d welcome their presence during the conflict rebrobates are forcing upon us, but I’d never trust them.

  4. BTW…I’ve never had a coffee from Starbucks; paying some filthy leftist $6 for a cup of coffee is just something I’d never do. It just doesn’t pass the common sense test.

The Strunk household prides itself on its larder, and the coffee stands tall. Our brew is as good as can be had anywhere, and the ingredients are no secret.

What is it that drives people to willingly enter a traffic jam, and wait 10-15 minutes for something anyone could easily have from home?

“A knife? Don’t worry about it, it’s likely just some kids blowing off steam. Nothing to be concerned about.”

  7. I’ve heard people say that there are traffic backups at this Starbucks, but I personally have never seen it. I have seen maybe 1 bicyclist going by once during the time the business has been operating. Maybe there is a backup sometime during the day, but it’s probably more hyped than reality- activists really hated the Starbucks when it was a block South and they hated it even more when they built this new building with a drive through..So, they created a hyped up issue.

Not sure traffic cops are needed at this location at all, and it’s ironic who asked for that to be a condition in the first place. Cops should just say they’re not coming back even if asked back. They have got to have more important things to do.

  8. My wife worked part time at a Gamestop. And she had lots of stories about district and regional managers and the like. If you contradicted their directives, you were instantly dismissed, with prejudice.

When you have the lowest employees on the totem pole making their own company policy, and management several steps above them not only acquiesce, but are concerned for the lowest employees mental conditions, it’s no surprise that the company is Starbucks.

The fact that they are not only still in business, but immensely popular, speaks volumes about the insanity of their clientele.

  9. ^ Ultimately you can doubt Starbuck’s management acquiesces. Where the rubber meets the road, they aren’t woke to this They’ll fire the entire staff to bring this to a conclusion.

  10. Dr. Pete.

I’m with you. I usually buy Cameron’s coffee because their Shakopee facility is right across the street from one of my customers and my wife works with the founder’s sister.

I’m also partial to both Black Rifle and Jarhead Java. Companies are both owned and operated by veterans. They are both on the pricey side, but they donate some of their profits to veteran causes.

  11. BH, my eldest is a big fan of Black Rifle. I subscribe to a mail order deal.

The coffee always arrives fresh and never fails to be excellent.

    We use a French Press.

The way I look at it, Starbucks must be shit coffee if you have to put caramel, whipped cream and flavors in it. Good coffee stands on it’s own.

DPS, if you are talking about remining officers in uniform I strongly disagree. With most, if not all, honest and self-respecting police officers leaving ranks, what remains will be tightly allied with the libturd new brownshirts. Setting up cover and making sure little darlings do not get hurt while looting, pillaging and raping. And to make sure the looterees, pillagees and rapees are not allowed to resist. And this goes for military as well.

  13. @jpa no man, I’m not talking about the scumbags that are already filling in the depleted ranks. I’m talking about the dudes that are leaving because they refuse to be tea-bagged by reprobate city councils and mayors and will not let violent, black thugs walk away from their crimes because their bosses are trash who won’t back them up.

And like I say, I’d welcome them for their training and enthusiasm, I’d never trust a cop, or ex-cop. Never have; never will.

  14. All this talk about coffee got me thinking. Mmmmm coffee.

    I digress….

Mrs. Strunk loves strong coffee and her birthday is right around the corner, so I just this minute bought her a Gaggia Carezza Deluxe Expresso machine.

Been sniffing around for one for awhile, and this one gets great marks from everyone.

I bought it direct from the Mfr., because I don’t Amazon, ever…and here’s a tip: it was cheaper from Gaggia and included free shipping.

    Viva Coffee! Fuck Amazon!

  15. The consistent formula used by the Democrats is to make local police accountable to federal JD bureaucrats and NOT local voters.
Again, the word “Democrats” is the wrong word for their party.
