Get The Pitchforks

Is “ICU bed” a technological term, a medical definition, or a billing code?

I’m beginning to wonder if it’s not something like: “In order to receive reimbursement at ICU rate, the facility must pass a Level Three inspection and be certified as having X equipment and Y level of dedicated staff holding Z certificates, and located in a licensed facility.”

If that’s the reason there’s a hard limit in ICU beds – Medicare reimbursement rules instead of medical treatment requirements – then the politicians better hope word never gets out to the people laid off under this fake-martial law, or the next shortage will be pitchforks and torches.

Joe Doakes

I suspect an awful lot of people will be looking for pitchforks and torches when the word gets out about the bureaucracy’s bungling.

If it ever gets out.

Fortunately, as Treacher notes, media’s job is to cover the important stories – with a pillow, until the struggling stops, if the story affects the Democrat establishment.

  1. Spot-on, as usual, Mitch (and Doakes). One nit:

Fortunately, as Treacher notes, media’s job is to cover the important stories – with a pillow, until the struggling stops, if the story affects the Democrat establishment.

    Iowahawk, actually.

  2. You’re correct Mr D, but the quote mixes both Iowahawk and Treacher quite nicely.

I suspect an awful lot of people will be looking for pitchforks and torches

    Only metaphorically.

  3. Thanks, boss, that’s an excellent article. This section bothered me:

” . . . the Spanish flu is believed to have infected about one in four of the world’s population between 1918 and 1920, or roughly 500 million people with 50 million deaths. We developed pandemic emergency plans, ready to snap into action in case this happened again.”

Really? What’s Minnesota’s pandemic emergency plan? Mass house arrest? I’ve been saying for weeks that the hard limit on ICU beds is a false ceiling, that we could increase hospital capacity instantly if we temporarily lift the moratorium and waive the licensing requirements. Finally, this week, we learn the state’s Emergency Management Director has begun to look into my idea, nothing firm yet, but they’re considering options. Great, glad the state is coming on board – 12 weeks into the crisis. Where are those emergency plans? When do they snap into action?

Not faulting the Governor for initially relying on bad data – it was the best he had at the time and better to be safe than sorry. I’m faulting the experts for having no plan. It didn’t have to be a virus, it could have been bioterror or a tornado through the center of town, anything that caused a massive number of injuries requiring immediate hospitalization. What’s the plan to handle that? What are we paying these ‘experts’ for?

The twin justifications for mass house arrest are deadliness of the virus and lack of hospital beds. If the deadliness is phony, and the ceiling on hospital beds is also phony, then the justification for mass house arrest disappears. In that event, we should shift to a public policy of asking the most vulnerable to voluntarily stay home to keep themselves safe, while the rest of us go back to work.

  4. *Note: I don’t know what’s up with the comment plug-in, but I can’t post multi paragraph comments. Sorry about the tl;dr thread.

Joe, the leftist propaganda mill has been posting ever rising death tolls, claiming hospitals are full, but I don’t know 1 single person, in my family, social circle, or among the 1500 people that work at my company that even has a light case of Bat Flu. According to the media, bat flu has killed 5,148 people nationwide, that’s not even a ripple in the pond, but yet we see pictures of gown clad people unloading sheet covered bodies from ambulances. They are more likely to be gunshot victims in Baltimore than bat flu victims.

  5. In fact, CBS aired fake Video. Their “NY hospital footage” was actually from Italy.
(Can’t post links, google “CBS Used Fake COVID Video”)

I saw an article today that said MN is not releasing the names of the long-term care facilities that have outbreaks…why?

How about you SITD lurkers. Anyone have a sick family member, friend or work associate? Anyone know about a death, even 3rd hand?

  6. For perspective, “if it saves even one life” does not apply to the 15,000 abortions performed in America . . . LAST WEEK.

    And every week.

    Because those are “essential.”

  7. There are some YouTube and Twitter videos starting to surface showing empty virus testing centers, hospital emergency rooms and parking lots across the U.S. and in several other countries. Many of the videos are time stamped, as they are being recorded. Since left wing Soros funded Media Matters has a full on debunking operation going, I have to believe that at least some of them may be legit.

Here’s something that I found about the Twitter stuff.

  8. Boss, they’ve gone all in to get this hoax rolling. You can bet they’ll spare no effort and expense to protect it.

  9. Jezuz. So now, I can’t post any links.

Well, Go the the Duck Go and search for “Twitter #FilmYourHospitals”

Not everyone is falling for the bs. I especially appreciated the clip of the EMPTY BAT FLU TENTS in NYC central park; not a fucking soul anywhere around. Go check it out

  10. Well, sure, the tents are empty because the Honest and Brave Democrats were the ones who Saved All Our Lives with their Courageous Stand defying the Racist Trump.

By shutting down the entire economy, they created or saved ten billion lives, Praise Be Upon Them.

Why aren’t you more grateful? Deplorable.

  11. News Release

    —embargo until September 1, 2020—

Figures released today show the US economy is in the deepest depression since the Civil War. President Trump, who inherited a robust and booming economy from President Obama, today claimed without evidence that the continuing financial disaster was due to Democrat governors continuing to insist upon safety measures to protect their citizens from COVID-19, the deadliest plague known to humankind, long after the danger had passed.

The President’s unsupported claim was disputed by responsible officials. “We have a sacred duty to protect the lives of our citizens,” said Governor Walz. “We will not relax the Stay At Home order until every single person has been tested and found to be free of the virus, however long it takes, because that’s how much we care about people, unlike the callous and brutal attitude displayed by President Trump.”

Experts noted the President has been wrong continuously, about everything, since long before he was elected, possibly because he remains in collusion with the Russians intent on destroying the United States. Vice President Joe Biden, speaking from the Memory Care unit of a local Assisted Living Facility, promised that when he was elected, the virus would be eradicated from the planet in the same way that he wiped out polio and smallpox.

  12. Vice President Joe Biden, speaking from the Memory Care unit of a local Assisted Living Facility

    lmao

Did you see his Rec-room Chat with MSNBC? I expected him to pull out a monocle and bush hat any minute, demand to be addressed as “Teddy” and declare that “We have Nothing To Fear, But Fear Itself”. He will be rhetorically destroyed by Drumpf…probably rush over and take a swing.

  13. And just like that, Emery is validating my press release with his comment on the other thread.

    Amazing.

  14. Anyone have a sick family member, friend or work associate? Anyone know about a death, even 3rd hand?

Sorry, Swiftee, I’ve been in and out today. I don’t know anyone who is/was sick with kung flu. I know someone who aborted a trip – very costly – in Indonesia a couple of weeks ago. Flew back via Dubai, then London, and finally the Euro-crap country in which he resides. He complained about a tightness in the chest this morning, but then so did his wife and she didn’t make the trip. I don’t know anything.

  15. jdm, I have reason to conclude your experience is the norm. It is among the people I speak with.
