Never Waste A Crisis

Mayor of Champagne, IL, “responding” to Covid19….

...bans gun sales?

According to a local report from WAND 17, Champaign Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen has issued an executive order that would give her office “extraordinary powers.” She has issued the order despite the town and surrounding area not having a single case of the disease.

“The executive order allows the city to be flexible to properly respond to the emergency needs of our community. None of the options will necessarily will be implemented but are available in order to protect the welfare and safety of our community if needed,” Jeff Hamilton the City of Champaign’s Communications Manger told WAND-TV.

Here is the list of other items from the declaration/executive order, which also includes the ability to ban the sale of “food, water, fuel, clothing, and/or other commodities, materials, goods, services and resources,” in addition to alcohol and gasoline. Additionally, government agents or officials have the ability to seize private property and to cut off the city water supply. The mayor justifies everything “in the interest of public safety and wolf.”

The declaration goes a lot further than that. The woman is a Mussolini wannabe.

  1. Wife and I are planning a trip to visit friends in Taiwan and Thailand this Summer. I called my buddy in Taiwan yesterday to see what’s going on.

There are 59 cases in Taiwan. Almost all are people who brought it from the mainland. My buddy doesn’t know anyone who has it, but speaking to others, he says its the flu.

The big difference from seasonal flu is it lasts longer, which is why old and infirm people get pneumonia.

I asked him if the government is panicking; is Taiwan being locked down…He laughed and informed me the bars are open as usual.

This is a manufactured crisis, friends. I fully expect leftist degenerates will use the opportunity to implement the kind of control they have always dreamed of.

In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some scumbag declare the states right to confiscate private pro…oh, wait.

    https://www.activistpost.com/2020/03/california-governor-issues-executive-order-allowing-state-to-commandeer-hotels-motels-for-coronavirus-patients.html

  2. I believe power mongering leftist elected officials that issue orders and make declarations that increase panic among the gullible, mid-wit population should be held personally responsible for any and all damage, financial and otherwise, that their actions cause.

  3. Check this out:

    https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/article241216061.html

“California state government is procuring hotels and motels to shelter the homeless as part of the state’s effort to slow the spread of coronavirus, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Sunday.”

“Newsom didn’t specify where the state is procuring the hotels or motels, or where it is sending the trailers.”

He also didn’t specify how, or if the owners will be reimbursed. But as I alluded to, this is more than mitigating the effects of flu. They’re running the long game:

“Everyone needs to be indoors,” Steinberg said Sunday during a [Sacramento] City Hall press conference. “And if we can use this terrible crisis to actually take the next steps to find enough beds, enough shelter enough navigation centers, enough permanent supportive housing to dramatically reduce the number on our streets, that would be an incredible silver lining out of a most difficult time.”

Nice hotel you have there, friend. Be a shame if something was to happen to it. Maybe you need a partner….

I’m completely unconcerned about the flu. But I am on high alert for leftist governments to take their jack-boots out of the closet.

  4. Funny! These leftist governors, except for Dewine in Ohio, are affecting the livlihoods of thousands of their constituents, yet, none of them mentioned whether or not they are going to continue to take their salaries. Of course, we all know the answer to that question. “Moi? Suspend my pay? Mind your place, peasant!” Of course, President Trump is the only one that has refused a salary since he’s been in office. That said, now we wait for Emery the troll to tell us why that’s a bad thing.

  5. Should have clarified. Dewine is a Republican. My liberal brother lives there and says that he was the only GOP candidate on the ticket, so he got elected.

  6. Governors have extraordinary powers in a health crisis. Newsom (& others) always had the power to defy the courts & shutdown California’s homeless encampments. He chose not to do so.

  7. “The Trump administration could have begun to use a functioning test from the World Health Organization, but didn’t. It could have removed regulations that prevented private hospitals and labs from quickly developing their own tests, but didn’t.”

Trump’s failure to ramp up testing is the prime reason this virus has gotten a huge leg up on this country.

Trump gave himself away when he expressed dismay over having the cruise ship with infected passengers off California dock on American shores. “I don’t want my numbers to go up because of that ship,” he selfishly proclaimed to the shock of any sentient person who instantly realized: “I could have been on that ship.”

Trump cared more about keeping cases low because of how it “looked” for his political fortunes, rather than people’s health.

  8. Here’s an interesting article from CalTech.

    https://www.calcalistech.com/ctech/articles/0,7340,L-3800632,00.html

“Corona Is Slowing Down, Humanity Will Survive, Says Biophysicist Michael Levitt”

“The Diamond Princess was the worst case scenario, according to Levitt. “If you compare the ship to a country—we are talking 250,000 people crowded into one square kilometer, which is horribly crowded.”

Furthermore, he said, the ship had a central air conditioning and heating system and a communal dining room. “Those are extremely comfortable conditions for the virus and still, only 20% were infected. It is a lot, but pretty similar to the infection rate of the common flu.”

“As with the flu, most of those dying as a result of coronavirus are over 70 years old, Levitt said. “It is a known fact that the flu mostly kills the elderly—around three-quarters of flu mortalities are people over 65.” To put things in proportion: “there are years when flu is raging, like in the U.S. in 2017, when there were three times the regular number of mortalities. And still, we did not panic.”

“That is my message: you need to think of corona like a severe flu. It is four to eight times as strong as a common flu, and yet, most people will remain healthy and humanity will survive.”

I’d like to staple a copy of this interview to Gavin Newsom’s empty skull.

  9. Emery;
No one gives a flying rat’s ass what you have to say anymore. Your inaccurate and lying missives are parroted from your left wing media masters.

  10. Emery;
Here is another fact for you. I know that you, like most lefties, don’t like them, but here it is anyway.

Earlier in the week, Fauci told Fox News’ Sean Hannity there was “no question” that Trump’s initial travel restriction targeting China – epicenter of the outbreak – had helped protect the U.S.

“Yes, there’s no question that if we had not done that in a timely way, there would have been many more travel-related cases from China,” Fauci said during an appearance on “Hannity.” “And as you know, the outbreak that we’re having here in the country, these cases originated from travel-related cases that came from China — and then we had the issue in Washington state and what we’re seeing now in other states. So, coming from outside within was the thing that started it. So, I think [Trump’s travel restriction against flights from China] saved us a lot of — a lot of concern and a lot of suffering, I think.”

Go ahead, Emery. Challenge Dr. Fauci with your vast medical knowledge.

  11. I agree Trump’s travel ban did have a positive impact.

I noted a change of tone coming from Trump at his press conference today.

Trump’s reaction to the virus reminds me of the five stages of grief by Kubler Ross:
    denial
    anger
    bargaining
    depression
    acceptance
The real question is where is the market on that Kubler scale?

  12. Here’s an interesting article from CalTech.

    Yes, indeed, Thanks.

I’d like to staple a copy of this interview to Gavin Newsom’s empty skull.

For me, as stupid/evil as politicians like GN are, they are simply reacting to what they think people want thanks to the media. This includes not only the evil SOBs at the national level, but also, to an even higher degree, on their mindless puppets in the local media. The so-called reporters and talking heads from channels 4, 5, 9, and 11 (for those that live in the Twin Cities) are also included. Not once have I ever seen these fools do anything other than propagate what info they get from the home office onward.

I am truly looking for a general comeuppance for the media.

  13. It must be whiplash for people who were told this was a “Democrat hoax” to now be informed they can’t go anywhere.

  14. “ For me, as stupid/evil as politicians like GN are, they are simply reacting to what they think people want thanks to the media.“

They are two branches of the same fetid stream. When the dust settles and people realize the panic has caused more and longer lasting damage than the disease could have ever brought, heads will roll.

  15. Someone finally talked some sense into the President two months into this. That’s good.

I’ll admit it’s easy to dunk on Trump for finally flipping and admitting that the coronavirus is not under control, but it’s actually a good thing that he finally is broadcasting the depth of the threat to his supporters.

Maybe the real exponential growth is Trump’s ability to properly execute a pandemic press conference?

  16. It IS a Democrat hoax. Trump’s simply out-hoaxing them to raise the ante.

The existence of a virus isn’t a hoax, the hoax is attempting to use a flu virus as THE END OF THE WORLD AND IT’S TRUMP’S FAULT SO VOTE FOR BIDEN.

The Left claims we’re all going to die because Trump’s not doing enough. Fine, we’ll ban travel. Woah, can’t ban travel, that’s racist. Well, which is it: ban travel or we all die? Trump is giving the Left the rope to hang themselves and they’re running with it. Abortion funding in the Coronavirus bill? Gun bans? Proof that Democrats know this isn’t a real EOTW situation, it’s a Rahm Emanuel textbook operation: never let a crisis go to waste. Politics as usual.

    a hoax

  17. Say Joe?

The degenerates have been actively aiding and abetting the invasion of America for at least 10 years. They have blamed the immigration service for the illnesses the invaders ICE catches are suffering while awaiting deportation, so the degenerates know disease is coming across the border with the invaders.

We knew way back in 1984 the invaders were bringing Typhoid and Tuberculosis in with them, to say nothing of the measles, mumps, scabies, bed bugs, intestinal parasites and just about any other nasty critter you can think of.

Now, even Canada is closing it’s borders to stop the import of disease.

They just proved they are willing to crash the economy to stop the flu. Will degenerate leftists now stop hiding and supporting illegals who jump the border, and actively support the tightening of our border and immigration policies?

And more importantly, will the “conservatives” in DC even ask them to?

  18. JD: The lack of Trump’s competence has moved from perceived to tangible at this point.

  19. Funny, isn’t it Emery?

Just like your left wing masters, the EU was criticizing Trump for closing the U.S. to travelers from there. On Friday, the EU closed the continent to outsiders. Trump’s strategy wins again and you continue to prove that you are as mentally competent as Creepy Joe Biden.

  20. After Covid-19 Trump’s reelection may now turn more heavily on perceptions of his competence or lack thereof.

  21. The lack of Trump’s competence has moved from perceived to tangible at this point.

Always with the cocksure assertions, never accompanied by “and this is why”. Does this ever work?

  22. Trump and his administration have wasted too much valuable time already protecting his reelection through dishonesty and obfuscation.

  23. This is the new UK report that apparently led to the Trump administration’s shift in tone yesterday. Full study is here:
    https://t.co/Lbi6qHeRTD?amp=1

Good thing it had that “flattening the curve” graph in it! Because you all know — pictures, not words.

  24. In 2009, Negro Jesus waited 6 months, until after 1000 had died to declare a national emergency for H1N1. Ultimately, 60 million people contracted it and 3000 died.

Nothing shut down, there was no panic. But yeah, Drumpf.

The real value in these incidents is our ability to mark the gullible, the low IQ and the evil among us. They will attempt to sink back into the cover of the swamp after the damage is done.

We must keep them illuminated, and make the leaders pay a stiff price.

  25. Emery is the guy who shows up at the office pot luck empty-handed, then criticizes all the food. The hot dish has celery and I don’t like celery. You shouldn’t let the deviled eggs sit out. My mother’s fruit salad is better.

He never notices everybody else in the office white-knuckling their forks to keep from stabbing him to death.

  26. ^^ I am completely baffled as to why I still read comments praising Trump’s handling of the Covid-19 crisis, especially given the fact that, in approximately mid January, we had the same information on the virus as did South Korea.

With the early information in hand, South Korea quickly mobilized to test as many people as possible, whereas our administration sat on their hands, denying there was a problem and calling the media coverage of the pandemic a “Democratic Hoax.”

I am unaware of the extent of travel restrictions or public closings in place in South Korea, except for the supposed fact that the government, through their extensive testing, was able to micro-manage extensive quarantine measures to identified “Covid-19 clusters,” whereas as here in the US we are taking a shotgun approach, because we have no idea of the extent of the spread of Covid-19.

Dr. Fauci, who is now the face of the federal government for the Covid-19 response has stressed the need for containment, but how do you contain an invisible disease without shutting down the entire US economy?

Bottom line is we had the same opportunity to handle the crisis as did S. Korea, and we botched it.

  27. Trump says he knew coronavirus was a pandemic ‘long before’ it was declared ~ The Hill

    Jan 22:
Reporter: “Are there worries about a pandemic at this point?”
    Trump: “No. Not at all.”

    Feb 26:
Trump: “We’re going down, not up. We’re going substantially down.”

    March 7:
Trump: “I’m not concerned at all”

    Today:
Trump: “I’ve always known this is a real…pandemic”

  28. Emery;

Pull your head out of your ass, because your straw man last posts are asinine.
    1. South Korea is a fair distance from the U.S. They have a lot more traffic to and from China than we do, so it makes sense that they would ramp up testing. It stands to reason that Trump wouldn’t be concerned, because there were very few if any cases here at that time, so why start testing?
    2. It’s perfectly reasonable to not be concerned about a pandemic, even though you know there is one.
Joe illustrated you and your left wing critics perfectly. Trump took the best initial options, which as I posted earlier, saved many more people from getting it. It’s real easy to play Monday morning quarterback and criticize without offering any solutions. So, again I ask you, to please illustrate your medical knowledge and let us know what you would do different. I pity the people that work with you, because in addition to Joe’s observation, you are the guy that contributes nothing to your work teams, but you take all the credit. Then, when management doesn’t like it, you point the finger at everyone else.

  29. ^^ In other words, after being in complete denial, confusion and chaos for two months, Trump and his administration have finally realized that this is a health and public safety issue first and a reelection problem second.

It’s so reassuring to have so remedial students inside the White House and Oval Office. To the extent that he makes the right calls, however belatedly, we should give him positive reinforcement. The reckoning should come — but after we’re through this.

  30. No Emery, the real reckoning against all of the haters of Trump, but more importantly America, will come as a result of this.

  31. after being in complete denial, confusion and chaos for two months, Trump and his administration

Berg’s Rule #7 could not be more clearly and concisely explained.
