Now, Let’s Watch The Saint Cloud Times And Star/Tribune Hyperventilate

A proposal to make Sherburne County a “Second Amendment Sanctuary” has been floated.

If you live in SherbCo, your mission is clear.

The proposal, from State Rep. Shane Mekeland, from the “New House Republican Caucus”, would commit SherbCo and its law enforcement to defying any future oppressive gun restrictions:

The Saint Cloud Times has Mekeland elaborating:

In a phone interview Monday afternoon, Mekeland said the resolution is basically the county board saying it will not support perceived threats to Second Amendment rights should they come from the state level.

Will SherbCo go through with it? I think it’s doubtful. And I don’t think it matters.

I think the real payoff was what we saw in Richmond yesterday – the movement gives the silent majority a coherent focus for their political power.

There may not be any Second Amendment sanctuaries in MInnesota this time next year – but a lot of Real Americans will come to the polls because of the movement.

Expect much tut-tutting from the Saint Cloud Times, the Strib, MPR and Ryan WInkler.

Sherburne county has always been on the forefront of liberal carry policies (liberal! ha! I kill me). Back before carry was a statewide thing, the sheriffs in Sherburne stated that no undue or inappropriate requirements or costs would be involved with a carry application.

Those legislative reps pretty much cover the county completely so the request is not unrepresentative of the county. On the other hand, there only five commissioners and I personally know one of them (mine) and I think this proposal will be hard sell. This could be fun watching some people squirm if they want to be re-elected.

the Saint Cloud Times, the Strib, MPR and Ryan WInkler

The Times is a non-entity in the eastern half (two thirds?) of the county, neither the Strib nor MPR have much if any influence being from “the cities”, and RW is who?

On the other hand, the local papers, those owned by hometownsource.com, like the Elk River Star News, are both read and pretty reliably center-left. They would be tut-tutting too and might have an effect.

    It’ll still be interesting.

Yea, and the left was just salivating over the possibility of an incident in Richmond yesterday. Funny! As usual the 2nd Amendment supporting patriots behaved respectfully and the ones that brought their legal firearms, per VA law, open carry is legal, were required to stay a certain distance away from the capitol building, so they respectfully complied. There were no arrests and again, funny! Just like our normal, operations mode for protests, they picked up after themselves and left the grounds actually cleaner than when they arrived. Despite Governor Blackface’s putting the whole state on emergency nuclear, NOTHING HAPPENED. No doubt, most leftist journalistas are depressed today.

On another related note, my boss did derail my plans to run up to Hibbing today, but I observed that Nancy Nord Bence’s lies have been scripted to every state chapter of “Disarm other people because we don’t like guns” aka Protect MN. The Duluth chapter leader, claimed that she’s attend almost every hearing in St. Paul, too and that “there were just as many gun safety advocates as there are gun owners at those hearings”, which kinda blows her statement that “she’s been to most of the hearings” out of the water. In a way though, she’s right, but employed a play on words, because 99.99% of firearms owners, practice and advocate “gun safety”. But, she’s certainly lying about the numbers of orange t shirt wearing protesters vs 2nd Amendment supporters.
