Things That Keep Democrats Up At Night

As Bill Whittle noted in a video I featured the other day, Kanye West’s apostasy on Donald Trump and the idea of leaving the Democrats’ narrative does something that was unthinkable not too long ago; given black people “permission” to leave that narrative behind.

And if you take this Pew poll seriously, they’re thinking about it.

Monica Showalter at AmThink (with emphasis added by me):

Black men’s approval for Donald Trump has absolutely doubled, according to a new Reuters poll, and his overall support among blacks has risen sharply.  This seismic shift just happens to coincide with rap superstar Kanye West’s break with the Hollywood left, coupled with his open admiration for Donald Trump.  According to the Daily Caller:”

A poll taken on April 22, 2018 had Trump’s approval rating among black men at 11 percent, while the same poll on April 29, 2018 pegged the approval rating at 22 percent.  It should be noted that Reuters only sampled slightly under 200 black males each week and slightly under 3,000 people overall…Trump experienced a similar jump in approval among black people overall, spiking from 8.9 percent on April 22 to 16.5 percent on April 29.

Kanye made his remarks on April 25, and much of the left panicked, calling him a sell-out, a traitor to his race, and other typical epithets black people who don’t toe the Democratic Party line have endured for years.  Kanye responded by doubling down, posting a picture of himself with an autographed MAGA cap, and calling Trump his “brother.”

Let’s focus on that bolded number – 16.5 percent.

As Whittle notes, if the Black vote for Democrats drops below 85%, they will never win another presidency; they’ll never control the Senate or the House; they’ll never confirm another SCOTUS justice.

So of course the Dems are attacking West.  And every other black, Latino, gay, and female conservative.

  1. Kanye was tweeting quotes from THOMAS SOWELL. Yes, that Thomas Sowell.

It made for quite the discussion Saturday night with some millennial who had no idea who Thomas Sowell was.

I’m by no means a Kanye fan, but him prompting the discussion of Thomas Sowell is GREAT!

  3. Someone pointed out last week, Kanye has over 27 million followers on Twitter and about 15 million on Instagram. The potential to change the minds of at least 10% of them, could be significant enough to sway an election.

It would be interesting to see how many more followers Diamond & Silk picked up after standing up to the vilification and ignorance of Reps. Hank Johnson and Sheila Jackson Lee.

  4. You know, it’s really not hard for the GOP to peel off Democrat voters. All they have to do is to treat blue collar voters with the understanding that the coastal elites that dominate Democrat funding and policies don’t. You’ll note that it was the blue collar Democrats who got Reagan and Trump elected when both of them paid at least some attention to their issues, and that it was Romney who was too out of touch with working class issues to get their votes.

So all you need is some basic policies to get the blue collar vote: put American interests and workers first. And realize that not everyone wants to work a clerical job.

And then don’t vote lie a coastal elite once you get elected.

  6. Imagine…..

What are the Democratic options options for the midterm after black voters threaten to either stay home or cast votes for Republican candidates?

    1) Kick gobs of money to the black “leadership”.
    2) Ramp up fear and loathing for: the police, white people and Trump.
    3) Promise “reparations payments” to anyone who is black, even if they immigrated from Somalia two years ago and are the descendants of the very people who sold slaves to the Europeans.
    4) Flog identity politics.
    5) All of the above.

What are the Republican options for the midterm elections after black voters threaten to either stay home or cast votes for Republican candidates?

    1) Remind black voters that the waves of illegal immigrants that has swept into the country in the last thirty years has undermined black prosperity.
    2) Remind black voters that their 95% bias toward Democrats is simply taken for granted.
    3) Remind voters that their best chance for success is to leave the large urban centers controlled exclusively by Democrats.
    4) Remind black voters that the school systems in large urban centers controlled exclusively by Democrats are ruining the chances of their children for success.
    5) Do nothing and waste yet another opportunity because the Republican elite has absolutely no clue that most working class voters and black voters think the same and share a different world view not shared by elites.
