There’s a simple explanation.
She’s a former prosecutor who now manages “youth and strategic initiatives.” To do her job effectively, she must forge connections with local teens so she can hang with them and rap about where their heads are at, learn what makes good kids go bad. Only then can she recommend responsible social solutions the Mayor can implement to reduce racial disparities in criminal convictions.
This was an educational outing, a field trip if you will, an opportunity for her to gain a practical understanding of how drive-by shootings occur, conducted in a supervised environment. Class room theory is fine as far as it goes, but eventually a live-fire practice session is required, same as permit-to-carry training. The two yutes in the car were her instructors, both highly qualified, as you can tell from their resumes (aka rap sheets). And nobody was harmed so it’s a completely victimless “crime.”

She’ll be fine. Her mom and step-dad are judges at the same location she was awaiting arraignment. She’s probably already home soaking away the reek of jail.

The gun had it’s serial number defaced and that alone would be a serious charge to us peasants. I will bet a nickle it was a police officer’s gun.

“Stevens was released on her own recognizance, according to a spokeswoman for the Queens DA’s office.”
