  1. I’m wondering what the response would be when the U.N. troops start barbequing kids like they did in Africa a few years back, or introduce cholera into Chicago’s water supply like they did in Haiti.

Even if they behaved, I’d anticipate about the same response that they got in Gary and Detroit when state troopers were sent to keep the peace. Marginal effectiveness with lots of complaints about the police state.

  2. Now, now, Mitch. Let’s not be hasty. There may be merit to the idea.

The Chicago PD legally and politically could not divide the city into zones (red zone, green zone) to restrict travel between zones. It could not search persons and vehicles traveling between zones, embargo certain products, impose a curfew, shoot violators on sight, stop-and-frisk suspects identified by profiling, or detain suspects without trial.

If UN troops could get authority to take the same steps in Chicago that they would take in any other peacekeeping mission, they might indeed reduce the number of Black-on-Black shootings in Chicago. Whether that’s worth the cost in liberty is for Chicagoans to decide.

  3. “If we can’t get it done here with the leaders of the city, the state, and the county working together to utilize their budgets to help protect these communities, then I have to appeal to a higher authority, and a higher force,” Boykin said.”

How about ISIS? They are pretty good at controlling unruly populations, and I hear they’re looking to relocate.

  4. Because I am a nasty person, I am amused at the thought of blue helmets wandering around Chicago and shooting anyone they see packing heat.

  5. Seems Boykin recognizes that living in cesspool they’ve made of Chi-Town is now the equivalent of Western Sahara, Central African Republic, Mali, Haiti, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Darfur, Syria, Cyprus, Lebanon, Abyei, South Sudan, Ivory Coast, Kosovo, Liberia, India, Pakistan and other utopian splendors where blue helmets are the order of the day.

  6. You’re right, Scott. It’s probably not even safe to send some Blackhawk helos in there with relief supplies.
