Today’s DFL: Never Waste A Crisis

Tragic shooting in South Minneapolis;  woman from Australia killed by cop originally from Somalia.

Steve Cwodzinski – the teachers union foot soldier who “replaced” Dave Hann in the MN Senate seat representing Eden Prairie, follows Rahm Emanuel’s dictum to a fault:

“Two immigrants came to the United States searching for the American dream. One came to heal; the other, to protect. Now due to the fear and violence surrounding firearms, both have realized the American nightmare.”

The mission of today’s DFL:  Deflect the glare from:

  • the problem with police powers, especially qualified immunity
  • an apparent problem with officer training (Minneapolis cops, I’m told, are trained to keep their fingers on the trigger at all times, in and among any number of other issues in the incident)
  • suspicion about affirmative action hiring in police departments
  • the extent to which the mayor and council’s embrace of Black Lives Matter has caused the police to “stand down” – taking action only when they see a felony in progress
  • the social collapse of much of Minneapolis

…by jabbering about “fear and violence surrounding firearms” that were present only in the hands of the cop, whom the DFL would have us believe are the ones who can be “trusted” with that constitutional right.

People of Eden Prairie;  you sent him to Saint Paul.  Take him back.

  1. I’ve been figuring the relative silence has been due to the difficulty they’re having figuring out a way to blame this awful thing on white males. Cwodzinski’s awkward rhetorical stretch represents but one stage on the road to that goal.

  3. Am I reading this correctly Cwodzinski is suggesting police be disarmed? That they should start carrying bananas instead of guns?

  4. In America, almost any fool and their cousin (apologies to most gun owners) to has the ability to legally purchase a firearm. Every time a police officer is called out, they have to prepare themselves for the reality that a gun is accessible to everyone involved.

  5. Wait for an ambitious state legislator proposes “Justine’s Law.”

Such law will compel officers involved in shootings to give a mandatory statements to investigators within two hours of a shooting. You know, so it’s still fresh in their minds and they don’t have too much time to collude with others. The investigators must give a public statement within four hours of a shooting, because we’re all just so impatient with the slow progress of the legal system.

Of course such a law violates the 5th Amendment but it’s some nice virtue signaling by a state rep who desires some extra media time. It will waste legislative time by those screaming “You want cops to get away with murder???” It will waste courts time when it gets overturned on constitutional grounds.

But it will have made some people feel good.

  6. Say Steve? You mind if I call you “Cwad”..or how about just “wad”? Anyway wad, what we are seeing is that beyond running a smelly convenience store, driving a taxi, holding elected office as a reprobate Democrat, planning terrorist attacks, or selling khat, most Somalis are not capable of handling any position of responsibility, much less one with any authority.

My question, wad, is, given the fact that they have turned their country into an open sewer, which their various clans clambor over like murderous cockroaches, why did you fools ever believe they would do better here?

  7. Say Emery? When the cops finally catch you chasing little boys around, be sure to tell them right away, thats not a tiny pistol in your hand.

  8. In America, almost any fool and their cousin has the ability to legally purchase a firearm.

Also, get married. Conceive children and kill them aborning. Worship in a church. Insult the President on Twitter. Vote for a Socialist. Give money to charity. Tell knock-knock jokes. Fart in public. Wear Lulumon tights.

    Pesky things, those “rights.”

  9. EI; any dedicated fool or his cousin can get lethal weapons, or make them quickly, in any country of the world, and hence the police need to be on their toes wherever they are. That does not mean that this kind of thing is excused, however.

Honestly, you have got to get a little bit smarter than this.

  10. The outsized US gun violence rate is confined to a narrow ethnic & economic demographic. Perhaps if we are going to shred the constitution to eliminate the right to bear arms for self defense, we can shred the constitution again, and forbid gun ownership to people in that ethnic & economic demographic?
If you’re in the business of changing the constitution by judicial fiat to serve some arbitrary goal of the governing class, you are on stronger ground nullifying the 14th amendment than the 2nd Amendment, since the 2nd amendment is in the bill of rights and the 14th is not.
Let’s try using reasoning instead of emotion, shall we?

  11. EI, “Every time a police officer is called out, they have to prepare themselves for the reality that a gun is accessible to everyone involved.”

True that!! Given that I’d suggest that proper training on the police part would prepare a cop to recognize this is not extraordinary. I wonder if it’s normal for MPD to practice shooting across a partners chest (inside a patrol car) when loud sounds startles them.

  12. My question, wad, is, given the fact that they have turned their country into an open sewer, which their various clans clambor over like murderous cockroaches, why did you fools ever believe they would do better here?

Please refer to a new post thread above. It sounds like the reprobates are enlisting the help of people in the know to help them turn back the clock of evolution and progress.

  13. Notice that Harteau is saying it’s not justifiable, and the union is quiet. Not looking good for the shooter.

  14. These avoidable deaths are entirely due to poor training, shocking discipline and aggressive behavior. It’s Okay though, pay a multi-million dollar settlement, hand out a couple of administrative leaves and it goes away, well – until the next one and the next one and the one after that.

Seriously, law enforcement everywhere in the States need to rethink what the hell they are doing.

  15. Might not end up that way, Emery. In this case, Noor has all the motivation in the world to throw the MPD under the bus, and moreover, he’s already got information–two guys not having dash or body cams on–that indicates something is wrong with the culture.

If I were the new head of the MPD, I’d start a program of auditing random stops–a lot of them–and administering some discipline if body and dash cams were not turned on. Continue to take a look at whether older officers were partnered with new to balance the new technologies and old experiences, look seriously at the gun culture, etc..
