“Today we need a nation of minute men; citizens who are not only prepared to take up arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as a basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom”
— Ted Nugent, illustrating how radicalized the NRA has gotten.
I lied. It was NRA life member John F. Kennedy, speaking in 1961.
I love to throw that quote out when some gun-grabber intones “The NRA has has changed!” with that tone that indicates both progspaining *and* colonic impaction.
I always have loved this quote: “Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms … The right of citizens to bear arms is just one guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard, against the tyranny which now appears remote in America but which historically has proven to be always possible.”– Hubert H. Humphrey
How about we quote another gun-promoting radical?
“Gun bans don’t disarm criminals, gun bans attract them.” — Walter Mondale, U.S. Ambassador to Japan, 4/20/94
Nice work to all of you!
Those three quotes are now in my “arguing with idiots” reference bank.

Czech Republic anchored right to arms possession in constitution
A wonderfully sensible remark from a European politician:
“We do not want to disarm our own people at a time when the security situation is constantly worsening”
