Shot in the Dark

Tomayto, Tomahto

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

President Trump gave a speech [last week] referring to problems caused by immigrants in which he mentioned “what’s happening last night in Sweden.”  But nothing happened [last] Friday night in Sweden so the media are giving him a hard time about it.

Oops.  The immigrants didn’t riot in Sweden until Monday night.

Look, it’s no big deal, it was a minor staff error.  The speech he gave Saturday was meant to be given Tuesday, they’re just out of order, that’s all.  Simple mix-up, could have happened to anybody.

And you’re missing the point:  Sweden is a nice, clean, civilized country.  Sweden let in a pile of immigrants who aren’t assimilating.  The immigrants are causing problems such as a massive spike in sex crimes.  We should learn from Sweden’s example and reconsider our own immigration policy before we suffer similar problems.  What’s controversial about that?

Rhetorical question, right?

I think we need to a common progressive talking point against the progressives. Complete this sentence: “If it saves only life, it’s worth [the proposed action.] Restricting immigration from Muslim countries qualifies. And it’s constitutional as well.

    If it saves only onelife

Alas, doc, according to progressives it would likely be a wrong life. Not all lives are created equal, as in BLM.

Probably, something DID happen in Sweden that night, just didn’t make the international news.

“Several other lawmakers are focusing on the administration’s recent moves to beef up immigration enforcement, which Democrats warn is just the beginning stages of mass deportations.

‘We’re trying to not just tell the president, but we’re trying to tell the country, apparently tolerance and justice issues require ongoing lessons,’ Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) said.”

You hear that, Deplorables? You need ‘ongoing lessons’ on tolerance and justice.

I have several friends who have been working in the immigrant highrises in Sweden. They have reported for the past couple of years that the immigrant crisis is much closer to what Trump describes rather than the “whistling by the graveyard” descriptions of the liberal press. It’s a very dangerous mess over there that just gets swept under the rug by politicians afraid the truth will turn them out of office.

whatever I give it a decade, maybe two before it becomes the United Islamic Republic of Europe. I’ve been predicting this since 9/11 and only recently have people stopped calling me an Islamophobe. Europe, 1000 years to build, 50 to destroy.
