Being told I am “using my white privilege” to make a point…

For my part? I’ve decided that Bill Maher is right; the best way to deal with this sort of smog smug, entitled babble is to point it out, laugh at it, and mock it.
The greatest privilege of all is the ability to bestow or strip the privilege of another person.
I’d go with the old Pat Paulsen line: “I’ve upped my standards. Now up yours.”
I actually like the autocorrected use of word “smog” here, for indeed that is what it is.

Reminds me of the smug storm South Park episode back in 2006 where everyone in town gets a Prius etc, its as relevant today as it was 11 years ago.
For the record: the only time I exercise my white privilege is when I’m buying the SPF-50.

On the morning of January 20, protests over Donald Trump’s inauguration turned violent when black-clad “anti-fascist” protesters smashed storefronts and bus stops, hammered out the windows of a limousine and eventually launched rocks at a phalanx of police.
Officers responded by launching smoke and flash-bang devices into the street to disperse the crowds. Six police officers were injured and 230 protesters were arrested that day.
On Tuesday, a grand jury in DC charged five individuals. This was in addition to the 209 other defendants who’ve been indicted on rioting charges earlier this month.
Felony rioting carries a maximum of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.

If so, I doubt he did much mocking there; Bob runs a tight life raft over there, and is very protective of the feelz of the little twats that fill his comment section.
You can’t walk softly enough to get across the field of egg shells he’s laid out for conservatives. Im guessing he gives Mitch a bit more leeway because he engages in a bit of ass kissing from time to time.

They can’t, Emery. The Democrats are the party of racial division. The Democrats have believed, since the founding of the party, that the proper purpose of government is to rank, privilege, and deprivilege racial groups. Both of the people most likely to win the DNC chair position (Ellison and Perez) have endorsed racism as a governing philosophy: the government is to take note of your race and privilege you accordingly.

The dems are headed off the proverbial cliff. Once Hispanics stop viewing themselves as a minority (note the Irish and Germans did it once they integrated 2-3 generations in, were starting to be at that point now with Hispanics/Lations) and get lumped in with the general ‘white’ population identity politics will die. Or just become laughable

As a white person (it says so on my birth certificate!), I have absolutely no problem with Hispanics, or Blacks, or Asians identifying as white. The premium for being white is pretty small and very localized. Maybe restricted to joining the Aryan Brotherhood or the KKK. I’ve read those ‘check your white privilege’ checklists, and they are a hoot! The people who write them do not seem to realize that there are white people who grew up poor, who never finished high school, who have spent their working career wearing a uniform of some kind, etc., who were turned down for a car loan,
The level of disconnect would be funny, if it wasn’t so scary
