It’s Such A Shame…

By Mitch Berg

…that Keith Olberman wasn’t one of the people killed in the Fort Hood massacre.

Life would be so much better if the MSNBC gasbag had pled, unsuccessfully, for his life last week.

But can you imagine how funny it’d be to see his eyeballs fly off in different directions?  Bwahaha!

What? Not funny?

But the left’s co-arbiters of entertainment just said that wishing for the death of people you disagree with is a laff riot, didn’t they?  I believe they did.

I get so confused.

Me, too. I found it funny, and felt a bit bad about it. Not because of the shot against Beck — which I thought was funny — but because it at least appeared to be based on a real accident, where a real young woman got killed. No, I don’t think Beck — or Olbie — getting killed would be funny; I do think that jokes about either of them being killed can be.

Hey, that Olbermann thing sounds funny. You should pitch it to “The Half-Hour News Hour.”

    Or “The Onion”.

I watched Jon Stewart (one of the rare times) last week and he spent 15 minutes on a Glenn Beck parody. He wasn’t funny. Just like Sarah Palin, when someone really gets to these clowns (like the angry one) they7 just have to lash out. But there is zero substance to the attack. It’s all just mean and degrading.

Mean and degrading – the Onion in particular has been circling the drain lately. During the last three months of the Bush Administration, every issue of the Onion had one “comedic” piece about President Bush dying in some grisly accident.

Offend the Onion’s poliitcs, watch them chuckle as they fantasize about your death. Har di har.

  6. Night Writer Says:

I don’t know, I rather liked the Onion headline a few weeks back to the effect of “Obama: my plan allows seniors to choose how they will be killed.”

  7. Mr. D Says:

The Onion did have a funny issue back in July or so, where they were taken over by a Chinese conglomerate that specialized in “salvage fishing” and polymer injection. If you’ve ever dealt with Chinese vendors, it was spot-on. But this piece definitely was teh suck.

This passes for humor? Perverse yes, funny….NO!

    “Mean and degrading ”

I see it more as a spoof on how much the MSM hates right wing pundits, rather than any kind of attack on Beck.

I agree with joelr, that the use of real accident footage (if that actually is what was used) is creepy.
