Oh Noes.  Totes Grody Peeps.

Social media is a place where demented people have free reign to spout any nonsense they want without much consequence.  .

Most of us have known that for quite some time. Indeed, anyone who’s been running a blog for a decade or more could probably write a book on the delusional, demented and a disgusting people that turn up in comments sections, completely unbidden.

Somebody needs to pass the word to Sally Jo Sørenson, at Blue Stem Prairie, who apparently thinks “somebody saying something in a Senate candidates Facebook page” is the same as a “Senate candidate saying something on their Facebook page”.

And when you’ve told me that, kindly ask her a question for me (since she never responds to anything, ever): was GOP Senate candidate Leilani Holmstedt wrong about the League of Women Voters  having a lobbying arm that is entirely in alignment with the DFL?

Because that was her point…

  1. This is a new tactic used by a whole lotta bloggers on the Left and a few dim bulbs on the right. The tactic is doubly and sometimes triply wicked.
    1) Smear the blog proprietor with whatever words or opinions someone has left on their page.
    2) The perpetrator claims the right to police the comments on other peoples’ blogs or facebook pages.
    And, when triply wicked:
    3) Perp leaves an obnoxious comment on your blog using a sock puppet, and then smears you with it.
An early pioneer in this field was, IIRC, Mad King Charles of LGF, who would go to the Fox news website, leave sock puppet comments using the N-word, and then write a post on LGF linking to the comment as proof that Fox news commenters were all racists and Fox News was racist for allowing racists to comment on their web site.
Again, IIRC, Chaz got caught doing this, and tried to pin the sock puppetry on an LGF commenter who was allied with him (“Kilgore Trout”?), but most people suspected that the Trout commenter was a Chaz Johnson sock puppet to begin with 🙂

  2. Yep. And it’s nothing new; I had dimwit leftybloggers do that to me ten years ago.

Thing is, Sally Jo is no dummy. She knows that social media attracts crazies. That’s why she moderates all her comments, and only posts dissenting comments after she’s written a reply. Which, by the way, I’ve taken to doing…with one commenter, anyway.

So it’s not like she doesn’t know how the game is played.

  3. Mitch, I am getting dizzy from watching the left spin the latest O’Keefe videos. If you get a chance, do a search for Keefe, Scott Foval, Trump, Scott Walker.
And for anyone who still says media bias isn’t that bad, read the CNN and Wisconsin State Journal/Capital Times articles on this.
