  1. My what respect you have for freedom of speech and peaceful protest. and religious tolerance…..sarcasm.

Yeah, he might get cut from his team; however shame on the NFL if that happens given the actual violent crimes they have tolerated from other players.

Reference to Morocco Mitch? This guy is from Milwaukee. Are you by any chance using this innuendo to perpetuate the factually false bullshit circulating in the right wing lying media that he’s Muslim, including from Hannity on Fox News? Doesn’t appear that is the case at all. But hey, you don’t care about facts, so go for it.

Of course, I didn’t see any similar outrage at Trump when he didn’t put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem during the debates. You know, like the poutrage over Obama regarding wearing flag pins.

Keep it up, you will guarantee the reputation of the right for racism and for religious intolerance for at least another generation, maybe two. This particular post scores points for both being antagonistic to people of color and for Muslims.

The more you push the culture wars, the more the right lose, big time and long term. But why would you care; it panders to the worst of the right, right here, your audience. Agit prop. Again. Still.

  2. Dog Gone,

Until I see some sign that you are willing to discuss your many condescending, factually vacant, rhetorically abusive claims, or even see some evidence that you read the discussion after you dump your bloated comments, I’m going to leave your comments in moderation.

Just a simple “Hey, I read this” will fix the whooole thing. But I don’t think you do.

Or email me. I won’t email you. The burden is on you – this blog is my property, not yours.

It’s in your court. There will be no compromise.

By the way, DG? I put more on the line for free speech in a week than you will in your whole life. How can I say that? Because I blog under my real name. You’re pseudonymous. QED.

    Get your shinebox.

  3. Now I’m legitimately curious as to what she pooped out. Mitch you have been more than tolerant. I’d like to think that I speak for all commentors when I say we support this attitude towards DG. We’ve literally put up with it for years, first it was funny, then it was annoying, now it’s pretty much hit and run. I’d respect her more if she responded or engaged in debate but never, or rarely does.

  4. Ah, Klueless Kluwe. Such a fine human being. CityPages reports that “Chris Kluwe destroys writer, Peyton Manning in awesome Twitter rant”. More grownup SportingNews reports “Former NFL punter Chris Kluwe goes on profanity-laced rant about Peyton Manning”. Manning’s behavior was tawdry, but Kluwe proves that he is not better, he’s just on the SJW side so CityPages likes what he said and how he said it.

And honestly, Kluwe proved to have exactly the path predicted: he was cut, signed for the minimum veteran salary at the Raiders, and he didn’t even make that team. Since then all that’s visible about him has been his SJW and Warcraft activities, including a Sports Illustrated edited rant that actually managed to avoid profanities attacking Houston Oilers owner Bob McNair for daring to support an organization opposed to the hideously poorly crafted HERO act. He seems to be unable to express himself without profanity, which says more about him than I think he realizes.

The big news about Kluwe? He’s going to try and compete on American Ninja Warrior this summer. Should be amusing. And he’s very anti-civil rights when it comes to guns.

  5. Apparently NFL team execs view him as the plague. He’s held in the same contempt as Rae Carruth (a guy who was convicted of 1st degree murder of his pregnant gf, and is now on death row I believe). He just got blacklisted. He better be good with money because once the 49ers cut him that check to get him the fuck out of town no NFL team will touch him

  6. Carruth’s term might end in 2018, actually. Kind of a silly comparison–yes, Kaepernick is one among millions who argues that we’ve got huge systemic racism, but that doesn’t mean he’s the equivalent of a guy who hires a hit on his girlfriend. Yet another reason for a polite but firm “no” to the NFL when they come asking for new stadiums, IMO, if that’s the level of thinking they have.

Kluwe and Kaepernick are peas in a pod, though, throwing around wild accusations with the very real possibility of getting people killed, specifically mostly the black people they claim to care about.

  7. DG,

While you have only very vaguely honored the letter of my rule (discussion, don’t poop and run), and avoided the spirit almost entirely, I’m going to answer this one because, honestly, you’re starting to worry me:

My what respect you have for freedom of speech and peaceful protest. and religious tolerance…..sarcasm.

I have nothing but respect for both; it’s mine, not Kaepernick’s, that’s endangered.

But more to the point – sarcasm?

I’m sorry, but you are quite clearly a cultural illiterate.

    It’s a movie reference

Yeah, he might get cut from his team; however shame on the NFL if that happens given the actual violent crimes they have tolerated from other players.

Perhaps, and utterly irrelevant to my point – which you have not come within a hail mary pass of grasping.

Reference to Morocco Mitch? This guy is from Milwaukee. Are you by any chance using this innuendo to perpetuate the factually false bullshit circulating in the right wing lying media that he’s Muslim,

DG – I’m sorry. I do my best to stay civil.

But you’re making an assumption that would make any rational person call you an idiot.

    It was a movie reference.

A reference to a line and a scene in a movie.

But hey, you don’t care about facts, so go for it.

Heh. If you’re smart, you might just feel really, really embarrassed to have written that.

    I said “if”.

Of course, I didn’t see any similar outrage at Trump

Blah, blah blah. This post isn’t even about standing for the National Anthem, about which I have an entirely different post coming soon.

Keep it up, you will guarantee the reputation of the right for racism….

No, DG. You keep up comments like this, and someday, when your real identity becomes public knowledge, you will have grounds for sueing your alter ego “Dog Gone” for slander. She’ll completely destroy your reputation.

But why would you care; it panders to the worst of the right, right here, your audience. Agit prop. Again. Still.

    Um, no.

Try – try HARD – not to be a self-adoring dolt long enough to maybe Google the line “You magnificent bastard! I read your book!” See if it perhaps leads you to the actual point of this post.

More and more, DG, your false assumption that you are the only smart person in any given conversation leaves you looking like a fool.

I said “like” a fool. Because I’m ‘the civil one.

  8. DG is nekulturny, a sublime mixture of true ignorance, arrogance and righteousness!

DG tell your parents to ask St Olaf for a refund!

  9. Leave it to DG to be completely, utterly clueless. She’s so culturally deprived that she can’t even recognize a reference to one of the AFI’s top 100 movies of all time.

DG: go watch Patton and you might, just might have a clue what Mitch is talking about. But I seriously doubt that. Since you need it spelled out for you, Mitch is implying that Kaepernick is taking a page from Kluwe’s book and doing him one better. That’s probable. Kaepernick is smarter than Kluwe and more of a class act (although that’s like saying that a snail is more intelligent than an amoeba — it’s a low bar to clear).Kaepernick will have a future, but like Kluwe it won’t be in anything in the main stream.

Kaepernick is trying to make it harder to get rid of him, but get rid of him SF will. That’s been pretty clear from the start of the year since he hasn’t been playing well and the coaches just don’t like him or his work ethic. Someone whose QB rating has dropped from 98.3 to a lousy 78.5 in 3 years and is still commanding $14M/year just won’t fit into a pro team. Heck, Bridgewater has had a much better rating than Kaepernick the last two years, and Kaepernick is a choke artist.

Kaepernick’s salary alone would make it difficult for any team to take him since the salary cap would mean trying to get other players to take a pay cut. But throw in the fact that he’s managed to tick off a huge part of the country with this talk and my guess is that nobody will touch him when he gets cut. Even the Vikes won’t want him because having him on the bench would cause trouble on the team next year, much less the fact that they can’t afford him.

  10. The problem with a concept like ‘systemic racism; is that it is a tautology. Racism = unequal outcomes, and unequal outcomes = racism. Under the current liberal regime, language has become weaponized. “Justice” justice does not mean getting what you deserve, it means getting what you do not deserve.

  11. If you’re gonna use movie references with Dog, you may need to limit yourself to “The Battleship Potemkin” and/or “Hope Floats.”

  12. While Dog Bone provides endless fodder for mockery and is typically good for comic relief, her comment on this post is utterly sad and embarrassing. If she had an ounce of shame or humility, she would own up to her cultural ignorance and apologize for going off half-cocked. C’mon, DG. Surprise us. Admit you royally screwed up so we don’t have to use this sorry episode against you on a regular basis.

  13. Mitch, In this instance thank you for publishing Penigma’s Chihuahua’s demonstration of assumption from ignorance.

  14. Brad C
DG is the dog that always pisses on your rug. No matter how many times you smack it with a newspaper it still does it because pissing on the rug gets attention and for DG even bad attention is better than no attention. This is what happens when your value system is relativistic.

  15. Morocco – OMG, that’s priceless! It’s as good as Emily Litella ripping Chevy Chase for objecting to violins on television.

  16. Since Dog Gone claims she reads the comments, maybe I can help her understand why we’re all laughing at her. Mitch and Nerdbert touched on it but from a position of inside knowledge that Dog Gone plainly lacks. Apologies to those of your who already understand the joke.

Dog Gone: there was a movie entitled “Patton” made in 1970. It starred George C. Scott. In the movie, there’s a famous scene shot in the desert of North Africa where Patton’s tanks are blowing up tanks commanded by Nazi Erwin Rommel. That actually happened during WW II and at the time was considered a stunning upset because Rommel literally wrote the book on warfare (Infanterie Greift An).

In the movie, Patton, watching his tanks win, shouts: “Rommel, you magnificent bastard, I read your book!” What he meant was that Patton had studied Rommel’s tactics and was using them for himself.

Turning to the situation at hand, Chris Cluwe was a punter for the Minnesota Vikings in 2013. He wasn’t very good and fans believed the team should cut him from the team. It’s widely believed that Chris Kluwe announced he was gay as a tactic to bring social justice pressure on the team so the team would not cut him.

Kerpernick is a quarterback for the 49ers. He’s not very good and fans believe the team should cut him from the team. It’s speculated that Kaepernick announced his Black Lives Matter support as a tactic to bring social justice pressure on the team so the team would not cut him.

Mitch slightly modified the Patton quote to imply that Kaepernick has studied Cluwe’s social justice tactics and using them for himself.

The imputation that I spent an entire column conveying to you, Mitch conveyed to SITD readers in a single sentence.

That’s how much better a writer he is than you.

That’s how much more clueless a reader you are than all of us.

That’s why we’re all laughing at you.

    .

  17. I read dog woman’s little screed and slowly scrolled down, savoring the feather plucking I knew would surely follow. You did not disappoint, my fellow alt-right warriors.

    Joe: “oh….never mind”

  18. It’s widely believed that Chris Kluwe announced he was gay as a tactic to bring social justice pressure on the team so the team would not cut him.

While it doesn’t detract from your overall point, JD, this is not true. Kluwe was a staunch advocate for gay marriage and his claim to fame was a foul mouth diatribe in Deadspin towards a Maryland delegate who opposed SSM. Kluwe is married to a woman and has a couple of kids.

  19. Brad, you’re right, I should have written:

“It’s widely believed Chris Kluwe announced his Gay Marriage support as a tactic . . . .” That would have been more accurate and also would have provided a better parallel sentence structure to the next paragraph, further reinforcing the similarity between the two players’ use of social justice tactics.

    Good catch. Thanks.

  20. DG goes off half-cocked so often that she could have made a fortune turning in defective firearms at the gun buy-back. If there was really any money being handed out, that is.

  21. I immediately got the Patton reference and tying knuckleheads Kaepernick and Kluwe together with it in one sentence was brilliant. Made my day.

Even more so that it caused Dog Gone to become Pooch Partum in a self righteous fit of ignorantly misplaced indignation.
    Well done sir.
