Correction

A longtime reader of this blog writes regarding this post, by Joe Doakes:

To correct the record, Pillsbury United Communities is a nonprofit that is not connected to the Pillsbury brand owned by General Mills. It was founded by the Pillsbury family in 1905: https://www.puc-mn.org/about/history

It’s more analogous to the Ford Foundation vs Ford Motor Company.

This was apparently in response to Joe’s remark “Pillsbury Doughboy wants to give me a free assault rifle.  How can I turn that down?”.

It would be more accurate to say “A bunch of left-leaning plutocrats want to provide us an opportunity to out-bid the city and themselves on some potentially useful hardware”.

We apologize for the error.

  1. No matter.

Pillsbury \ General mills are captained by leftist SJW. Plenty of alternatives to spend your money on where it wont be used against your, your family or your country’s best interests.

Also plenty of non-profits that don’t work against your, your family or your country’s best interests. I suggest https://www.hillsdale.edu/

  2. Readers: seeking your advice to this correction.

I could react: “Yes, I knew of the difference between the Doughboy and the foundation when I wrote to Mitch. I intentionally conflated the two names to use the imagery of a Liberal company buying me an Evil Black Rifle. Had Target been the sponsor, I’d have said ‘Mark Dayton wants to buy . . .’ for the same purpose. It never occurred to me that SITD readers would be too literal to get the joke.” Explaining it after the correction makes me look like a weasel, embarrassed to admit I made a mistake. I’m not – I’ve admitted mistakes before and would again, if this were one.

I could deflect: “Thanks for the correction. You’re right, it’s another fine example of O’Sullivan’s Law.”

I could joke: “Whew, that’s a relief. Larry Correia, author of the best-selling Monster Hunter International series, has an Evil Black Rifle with his MHI logo; I was afraid mine would bear a Doughboy logo. A short, fat, White man with a military-style gun? Dog Gone would never let me live it down.”

    I could let it go.

    What’s your recommendation?
