He Can Tell You ‘Bout The Plane Crash With A Twinkle In His Eye
By Mitch Berg
Can you imagine the revulsion that would have swept the nation if George W. Bush had, say, mentioned a spree-killing after giving a “shout-out” to some bureaucratic conference?
I never did hear what percentage of active-duty soldiers voted for Obama, but I can’t imagine he’s converted a hell of a lot.
Note that I’m not bagging on what the President actually said. Just comparing and contrasting.

Nice that he acknowledged a CMH recipient.

It is becoming increasingly clear that Obammy reached his level of competence at the Illinois state house.
One day some major news organization might even investigate the fact that the two people who got the most out of his tenure as state senator were Obammy himself & Tony Rezko.

That’s right. No endless replays such as were seen of the “My Pet Goat” moment on 9/11 with a clock running at the bottom showing the elapsed time. Not as horrific as the WTC? Try telling that to the relatives of the fallen?

To be fair, twelve dead is just a typical day in Chicago these days. He doesn’t know any better.

At least he didn’t ask some guy in a wheelchair to “stand up so everyone can get a look at you”. He did say his immediate thoughts are with the families, blah blah. Right after he made it clear his immediate thoughts were on native American issues.
This man is an embarrasment.

I was watching that with my son….he beat me to it: “What the heck is he talking about?”

Chicago….or Cleveland…..or Oakland….

this is scary, and the left can’t stop talking about healthcare. It’s like they don’t even care what happened down there.

“Nice that he acknowledged a CMH recipient.”
It would have been if he had. He got the medal wrong. The gentleman was not a recipient of the CMH. He actually was awarded congressional gold medal, the he highest civilian award in the US, although he doesnt show up on the list of people who have received that medal. There was a bill last year to award it, not sure what the deal is there. He also called him Dr which was actually a honorary doctorate. Joseph Medicine Crow is a very interesting man, but not a Dr, not a CMH recipient.

Ah, found a picture of Obama putting the congressional gold medal on Joe Medicine Crow so he did, in fact receive it. Omama apparently not aware of the difference between the two.

Buzz – thanks for the correction. I looked further and it seems he didn’t even get that.
The Congressional Gold Medal requires an Act of Congress.
The Presidental Medal of Freedom is handed out by the President.
They’re roughly equivalent rank – the highest award that branch of hte government can give to a civilian – but Joe got the latter. Wikipedia shows him as War Chief under subheading “military.”
Geez, I should have known better than to take anything that idiot said at face value. On the day of a national military tragedy, he can’t remember the difference between the nation’s highest military award and some trinket handed out to a civilian chosen by the campaign focus group.
