Breaking The Silence

Sometimes, you hold a secret that’s so inflammatory, so divisive, so certain to lead to sturm und drang, that you just hang onto it.  You keep it bottled up inside, and let it fester, for months, years, even decades.

Sometimes you take those secrets to the grave.

But sometimes – rarely, but it blessedly happens – something allows you to break the silence, and let the secret out, and let the truth be known.

This is one of those times.

  1. Sidling out of the closet eh? Beware, reddit is waiting to pounce on any apostate!

  2. I thought ‘busters I was well written, but I’ll disagree about Murray’s performance. Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson looked like they just weren’t in sync with that movie. Murray looked like the spent the movie coked out and just uninterested in his performance (that “I can’t believe I’m in a move about blasting ghosts” thing the linked author mentions), while Hudson looked and acted like a token tacked on at the last moment to broaden demographic appeal. I much preferred Ramis’ and Ackroyd’s performances and felt that they hit their characters’ tone much better than the rest of the cast. But maybe it’s asking too much for an actor getting millions to stand in front of a camera to try and figure out how to make the best performance he can?

As for this incarnation of ‘busters? It’d take quite a big change of word of mouth to get me to go, and I’m into movies. Generally the best you can hope for is a movie live up to their trailer, and this one didn’t fill me with confidence. It’s at best a wait-until-Redbox, and more likely a wait-until-Netflix and a bottle of Jack.
