Act Locally, Part II
By Mitch Berg
I’m thinking about stopping by the protest at Lake and Lyndale tomorrow.
I’m thinking about stopping by the Dunn Brothers at Lake and Aldrich – a block west of Lyndale – at 11:30 or so.
Let me know if you’re interested.

March 17th, 2007 at 7:47 pm
I will meet you there Mitch, I will be the big guy with the black leather jacket and the “peace through superior firepower” tee shirt if I can find it
March 17th, 2007 at 8:01 pm
I’ll try to be there Mitch. I’ll be the guy laughing at bill’s shirt.
March 17th, 2007 at 8:13 pm
I, too will be there, mitch. I will be the one watching on with a smirk as people who can otherwise issue threatening correspondence via the blogosphere become far more willing to listen to one another when looking their adversary in the eyes. Or, perhaps, I will be the one shaking my head as people who would otherwise be congenial neighbors cast spittle and obsceneties in one anothers faces when discussing differences of opinion over politics! (Shut up, Doug… if you were truly concerned about American aggression, you would be bitching about Bosnia! Or Germany! Or Puerto Rico! As a pacifist, your a punk!) Otherwise, I’ve got a kid with the flu to deal with!
March 17th, 2007 at 9:23 pm
Since i gbot you by 6 inches and probably 100+ lbs I am looking forward to seeing you Doug.If you don’t show, we will learn something about you in absentia.
March 17th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
ehhh “gbot” =”got”
March 17th, 2007 at 11:18 pm
My word. Don’t forget to drink your testosterone shakes before showing up.
I’d be tempted but I’m already booked for tomorrow. I tend to wonder which of malcolmania’s predictions would come true.
Not taking sides here, there’s been enough vitriol from every direction.
Although, if Terry shows up, I may have to cancel my plans ’cause if he can make it, I’d just feel like a slacker blowing it off.
March 18th, 2007 at 12:06 am
I will be there; 6’5, brown leather jacket, drinking a testosterone latte.
March 18th, 2007 at 2:39 am
Ahh, Mitch you won’t need a bodyguard I see
March 18th, 2007 at 6:11 am
I’ll be on the top of Mauna Kea. I am a slave to science.
March 18th, 2007 at 6:48 am
I’d be there, but I’m teaching a carry class.
March 18th, 2007 at 7:21 am
Doug will be there, singing “We represent the Lollipop Guild, the Lollipop guild, the Lollipop Guild…”
That just works on so many levels.
March 18th, 2007 at 8:15 am
Kermit said,
“That just works on so many levels.”
I know I’m being persumptious but don’t quit your day job.
March 18th, 2007 at 8:50 am
Mitch-
I’ll be there about 11:00. And we can talk about the meeting next Sunday.
And for the rest of you, I’ll be the 6’3″ 280# born again Christian,Sunday School teaching, Bible believing and loving, former rugby playing, Constitution and Bill of Rights loving, believing and protecting, certified firearms training , troop and mission supporting guy wearing the dark blue 8th Air Force cap and black “Remington” pull over.
And I blog as Amendment X at Savage Republican dot com if you want to see my political bent.
And I blog at the same site even if you don’t.
Recto faciendo neminem timeo!
March 18th, 2007 at 8:57 am
Dang Hcav, we may not out numger them, but we will out mass them! I’ll bring my laptop, in case we have WiFi.

followed by,
“I blog as Amendment X at Savage Republican dot com if you want to see my political bent.”
You see, this is a perfect example of why we’re stuck in Iraq.
March 18th, 2007 at 9:27 am
Doug, the level of foolishness evident in your post is amazing.
March 18th, 2007 at 9:33 am
Doug admitted “I know I’m being persumptious (sic)”.
So what’s new?
March 18th, 2007 at 9:48 am
And Doug, your comments are a perfect example of why you are stuck where you are.
Doug, Jonathon Swift spoke directly to you when he said “It is useless to attempt to reason a man out of a thing he was never reasoned into…”.
So, from your subtle rantings, I assume that you will not be presenting yourself to us at Dunn Brothers to engage in informed and reasoned verbal discourse.
BTW, I’ll be wearing my USS Ronald Reagan CVN 76 baseball cap instead of my 8th Air Force cap.
March 18th, 2007 at 10:25 am
I am sitting by the fireplace at dunn bros. Heh, just realized I didn’t through any $$ in my pocket so I won’t be drink ing any coffee to go with my Jamesons!
March 18th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
we had an OK turnout. I left a bit early since I had another engagement. No sign of Doug. Our average height of 6’3″ was greatly reduced by the presence (welcome though it was) of James Lileks. What transpired after I left – just before the march hit it’s end – I can’t speak to. But jollity and good humor marked our side, though we only mustered about a half dozen. Some pugnacious foul-mouthed lilliputian tried to pick a fight with hvac. Not a good plan. It also failed as the lefty succumbed to F-Bombs without regard to the presence of women and children.
Despite our Spartan numbers we managed to co-opt one of their chants. Who is the Terrorist? Bush is the terrorist!” We changed to a call and response: “Who is the terrorist?” “Achmadinejad!”
I had fun despite the cold temps. It was nice to meet Mitch, Randy, and see James again, as well as the folks from freedomdogs.com

You see, this is a perfect example of why we’re stuck in Iraq.
Because people exercise their First Amendment rights?
Even by your standards, Doug, that makes no sense.
March 18th, 2007 at 2:30 pm
Bill and the usual suspects said,
“Doug, the level of foolishness evident in your post is amazing.”
I didn’t actually think any of you trogeldites would understand my post so I’ll be generous and help you all out.
You see, Hcav detailed very precicely what his political leanings were in the first part of his post but he knew as did I that kermit and company would still be sitting there in a haze digging ear wax out of their ears with a paring knife so he had to add, “I blog as Amendment X at Savage Republican dot com if you want to see my political bent.”
As it relates to the war, there was a shit load of evidence that said the wmd’s in Iraq were all destroyed as far back as 1998 but as is typical with a large percentage of SITD commenters, you all just sat there on your couches and recliners drinking Budweiser and spilling Picante sauce on your Peace through superior firepower t-shirts while repeating the falsehoods FAUX News fed you.
and this, But jollity and good humor marked our side, though we only mustered about a half dozen.
A half dozen?!? That’s funny! We’ll have to redefine the word minority.
Oh, and hey Kerm, check this out from bill; just realized I didn’t through any $$ in my pocket”
Since you are always the resident spelling police, maybe you can help bill out m’kay?
Hcav said,

I revel in engaging in informed and reasoned verbal discourse which is prevcicely why I would never get together with this…

Gee, Doug I was hoping to see you laugh at my shirt… Oh well broken promises.
March 18th, 2007 at 2:47 pm
trogeldites
While you’re busy showing us what a real man with larnin’ is, you oughtta know it’s actually “troglodytes”.
March 18th, 2007 at 2:49 pm
A half dozen?!? That’s funny! We’ll have to redefine the word minority.
News flash – conservatives have families and jobs, and don’t usually spend their free Sundays walking up and down banging drums, chanting without rhythm and engaging in bi-polar, incoherent arguments.
In case you hadn’t heard.
We missed ya, Doug!
March 18th, 2007 at 4:24 pm
“A half dozen?!? That’s funny! We’ll have to redefine the word minority.”
A half dozen Conservatives are worth a hundred liberals any day of the week, month or year.

Oh good. The spelling police torch has been passed.
Mitch said,

And liberals don’t?
and don’t usually spend their free Sundays walking up and down banging drums, chanting without rhythm and engaging in bi-polar, incoherent arguments.
From what I saw it seemed pretty calm, organized and had a huge cross section of the population represented.
I’m almost sorry I couldn’t be there just to see the six stooges loose in uptown.
March 19th, 2007 at 12:22 am
And liberals don’t?
Judging by what I saw uptown today, I’d say maybe 25% have jobs.
From what I saw it seemed pretty calm, organized and had a huge cross section of the population represented.
It was a cross-section of white liberals. Which, from your perspective, probably seems pretty big.
I’m almost sorry I couldn’t be there just to see the six stooges loose in uptown.
Oh, don’t be coy, Doug. I knew you’d never do it.
You are, at the end of the day, all talk.
Misspelled talk, at that.
March 19th, 2007 at 1:36 pm
>> And liberals don’t?
> Judging by what I saw uptown today, I’d say maybe 25% have jobs.
Wasn’t there this time so perhaps they were all wearing badges that say “unemployed” but having done a fair amount of effort in the other camp over the years, if I say that this common perception of liberals by conservatives is as wrong as many of the common perceptions the liberals have of y’all, will you accept my word for it?
There are a lot of folk who are underemployed and a lot of folk who are employed at relatively low paying jobs but (based on my experience), the vast majority of them work.
March 19th, 2007 at 2:21 pm
Well, I AM being a tad hyperbolic.
My serious impression? They were mostly either college kids/recent grads/dozey high school kids who were new to the whole “adult” thing, or ageing hippies, or smug unitarian types who looked liked they’d been sitting at a desk in the public sector for a long time.
March 19th, 2007 at 4:52 pm
*nod* As far as generalizations go, that one seems more reasonable to me.
November 19th, 2007 at 9:48 pm
I’ll try to be there Mitch.
Riiiiight!!!
