Note To Rudy
By Mitch Berg
Carnivore from TvM notes:
No Democrat running for president has had anything to say about the ruling. If a Republican candidate, say a former mayor from New York, who needs help on the gun issue, would come out and actually endorse the ruling and say he would appoint judges likes those who decided the case for the majority, he would nearly guarantee picking up the Republican nomination. It would be enough to convince me and I’m to the right of Attila the Hun.
Note to Rudy (or his people): this is not the kind of flip flop that’s going to hurt your chances at a nomination.

It is possible that’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard about the 2008 campaign. You know Rudy sued the gun industry in 2000, right? That he believes tough enforcement of New York’s strict gun control laws reduced crime in the city? That other states should have tougher laws to prevent gun trafficking into New York?
Chew on this, my right-wing gun-nut friend, who for some reason finds Giuliani to be the dreamiest candidate in the Republican field:

I know you think it’s a small matter to change one’s convictions for the sake of political expediency, but a lot of voters would correctly view a flip-flop by Rudy on this issue as shameless and unprincipled. Rudy believes in gun control, choice and the right of dudes to get it on with each other. The sooner you wrap your head around that, the sooner you can move on to some candidate who better reflects your politics, like Sam Brownback or Darth Maul.
This dude-crush you have on Rudy is just embarassing.
