Mitch, since you are so enamored of the policies of next door governor Scott Walker, maybe you should discuss this on the air today:
http://www.wpr.org/node/739456
“A new state-by-state analysis from the Pew Charitable Trusts shows that Wisconsin experienced the biggest decline in middle-class households in the country between the years 2000 and 2013. The study found that the percentage of households in the middle class dropped in all 50 states, with Wisconsin’s drop from 54.6 percent to 48.9 percent being the most significant. Moreover, Wisconsin saw a 14 percent decline in median household income.”
To grow Wisconsin’s middle class, Levine recommends raising the minimum wage to a “living wage” and supporting the ability of workers to engage in collective bargaining.
“In Wisconsin, we’ve obviously gone the opposite way over the last three or four years,” Levine said. “Act 10 took away the collective bargaining rights for public employees, and the rate of unionization in the public sector has declined by about half in the state. And of course, we just passed a right-to-work law and right-to-work states, the research suggests, tend to have lower wages. Those sorts of policies are pushing us in the wrong direction.”
Of course, Walker was not governor during that entire time, but the drop in the period he was not reasonably can be blamed on the failed economic policies, lack of financial sector regulation, and of course those damaging tax cuts to the rich and corporate welfare of the Bush administration when our economy crashed – taking a good part of the global economy down too. But losing unions, and opposing raising the minimum wage is hurting too.
As a good apples to apples comparison, under democratic / liberal policies Minnesota is doing better.
Know what other state is not doing well? Your very red home state of NoDak! Those other red states that had governors or former governors running for president were pretty much not doing well either compared to Minnesota – New Jersey, of course Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Florida.
Ideology needs a reality check, and no matter how much you love it for being conservative, wen it doesn’t work — which is always — you need to toss it in the great big ideology dumpster.

before I spend any time responding, please respond with a quick “hi Mitch”. Something – anything – to indicate you actually read this comment section after you comment.
Thanks.

“Ideology needs a reality check”
Heh. Indeed.

Correlation does not equal causation.
You have to show a causal link.
FDR was president during the worst period of economic growth in American history. Obama has been president for the second worst period of economic growth in American history.

If you are going to equate correlation with causation, why not compare the economies of California and Texas?

Dumb Doggie Doo Doo,
Not to mention the fact that Governor Walker has freed thousands of public union workers from their jackbooted leaders stealing money from them every month. More money in the pockets of the middle class! WOW!! What a concept! Something that you worthless, lying lefties can understand, with your support of legalized robbery!

By the way, Mitch. First chance that I’ve had to listen to the show in over a year, due to my work schedule. Great show!
I was going to call in, but since it was off topic, I didn’t. There was a good editorial by Don Heintzman in the Sun Current about the rise in MN gun ownership by this week. Didn’t expect to see that type of article in that fish wrapper.

DG,
A simple “yo” is all I ask.
To show that you do more than just poop and run.
