The Common Misdefence

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

Pentagon orders military to consider climate change in every action.

The leadership is fundamentally unserious about defending America.

Joe Doakes

Or antagonistic to the concept in the first place.

  1. Yet, his Excellency does not even think of global warming as Air Force One burns a couple hundred thousand gallons of jet fuel as he and her highness jet to Hawaii and back a couple of times per year.

  2. DOH!! What was I thinking?!

The aviation industry measures fuel in pounds, not gallons, so it should have read a couple hundred thousand pounds. Either way, that’s a lot of crap dumped into the air.

    Sorry!

  3. It strikes me that the best way to reduce carbon emissions by the military is to make sure the military is so strong, you never have to go to war. That is, after all, when you really get going with burning things.

  4. That makes too much sense, Bikebubba. Without a doubt, the military will reduce carbon emissions by reducing training.

  5. Lunchbox, what’s your take on discovery of proof that gravitational waves do exist? Can they play a role in arresting AGW?

No, seriously, I really would like your learned opinion on what this discovery may mean to further research, and its significance, other then Einstein had been proven correct yet again.

  6. And by spending beaucoup buxs on “environmentally sound” fuel and less damaging tungsten bullets. And by making sure the individual soldiers are lighter and less lethal, too. Can’t be too safe when it comes to war, donchaknow?

  7. I don’t know anything about gravity waves, JPA. For years the astrophysics community said that they weren’t a big deal and funding gravity wave research would reduce funding for astrophysics 🙂

  8. Thanks, BG. No wonder you are nonplussed – they spent 1.1B to find these buggers. Maybe now that they have, they will shovel some funds your way.

I also see some in the scientific community are already touting this discovery as a definitive proof of the Big Bang. Yet again completely missing the metaphysical and philosophical angle as to what a Big Bang really is.
