Wanna feel depressed about society’s future?
The daughter of a Holocaust survivor interviews kids at a Louisiana vo-tech about the Holocaust:
Well, no. The kids are at Drexel, and at Penn State – an “Ivy League” school that supposedly recruits the “best and brightest”.
“Highlights” – the Latina woman, Ivy Leaguer and future Leader Of Our Society at around 5:36 who lumped Jim Crow in with the Holocaust.
I’m afraid we’re one generation away from completely forgetting.
I disagree with the preview that these people are bright. If they are that illiterate on world history, it’s no wonder that we are rapidly repeating it.
Further, every history teacher in the country, should be fired and imprisoned in a gulag.
“(Rutgers groups) should not be inviting anyone like (Yiannopoulos) because what we stand for is inclusion and diversity,” Waggeh said. “If a speaker makes someone feel unsafe or uncomfortable, then they should not come to campus.”
The above quote this week from a precious little snowflake at Rutgers.
I’ve seen some of those undergrad history texts. They basically show evil, racist, sexist, polluted America until the people who currently run the universities came on the scene when everything became rainbows and puppies . . . BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN THERE ISN’T MORE WORK TO DONE! THERE IS ALWAYS MORE WORK TO BE DONE!
It’s worth noting that not only have most forgotten the Holocaust, but I would bet you’d find similar ignorance about atrocities in Cambodia, China, the Soviet Union, Rwanda, Sudan, Vietnam, Cuba, Guatemala, Laos, Armenia, and other countries. I’m going to submit a hypothesis; you cannot trust the government’s schools to adequately teach the fact that unrestrained government can be murderous.
So I would go a step further than the videographer might; I would suggest that it ought to be mandatory for schools to teach that unrestrained government often becomes murderous.
Nope, can’t happen here. Move along sheople. Courtesy of BBG:
Police have shot and killed a man who allegedly attacked patrons of a Columbus, Ohio, restaurant Thursday night, wounding several people. One of the victims is in critical condition, according to reports.
The suspected attacker is a Somali national named Mohammad Barry, CBS reports. There are also reports that Barry was on a terrorist watchlist.
“Law enforcement is concerned that this incident has the hallmarks of the type of so-called “lone wolf” terrorist attack that they have been working to stop,” the report reads.
The suspect entered the restaurant earlier in the day and asked for the owner. He was then told the owner was not at the restaurant, and he left the building, WBNS-10TV reports.
Thirty minutes later, allegedly armed with a machete, the now-deceased suspect entered the Nazareth Restaurant and Deli at 6:30PM local time, witnesses say.
The owner of the restaurant is an Israeli Christian who formerly lived in Nazareth, Israel, according to reports.
“He came in and started beating up on another man, I thought it was a personal thing. Then he just started down the row hitting everybody; people were bleeding,” a witness told a local ABC affiliate.
A waitress said of the events as they unfolded:
He looked straight at me but he went over to the booths and just started going down the booths. It all seemed to happen in slow motion.
Karan Bass, who was in the restaurant at the time of the assault, said:
He came to each table and just started hitting them. There were tables and chairs overturned there was a man on the floor bleeding, there was blood on the floor… I fell like five times. My legs felt like jelly. I just thought he was going to come behind me and slash me up.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now assisting with the investigation, police spokesperson Todd Lindgren revealed. The FBI is well-known as the nation’s preeminent domestic counterterrorism agency.
Police Sgt. Rich Weiner said there did not seem to be any “rhyme or reason” for the attack. He did not reveal the name of the suspect and did not explain why the FBI had gotten involved in the investigation.
Micki Zakas, one of the employees of the restaurant, had nothing but good things to say about the owner of the dining establishment.
“Everybody leaves here with a smile,” she told a local NBC affiliate. “It’s a real happy place, he [the owner] has been in business for 26 years, so he’s got a great reputation around here. The restaurant’s got a great reputation.”
Well, Penn State is no ‘Ivy League’ school, nor is Drexel so unless they interviewed students at Penn later in the video (the only ‘Ivy’ in PA) these weren’t Ivy League students. (Sorry, but to paraphrase the Haiku spinning blawh-grrr Learned Foot: “>12:00? tl; dw”).
That said I’d hate if my tuition dollars were going to State College (Penn State) or Philthydelphia (Drexel) and the beneficiary of those dollars knew this little about the planned, systematic killing of 6 million people. It’s one of the things that drove me out of chat rooms years ago – the casual ‘Godwinning’ or Nazi comparison (oh you are for fluoride in the municipal water system? well so was Hitler) without any acknowledgement of the horror that the Holocaust was. It’s why today when people casually throw around “Trump’s (or Sander’s) the next Hitler, ya know. A historian on Reddit proved it with ‘teh’ facts”, it makes my skin crawl.
