Lie First, Lie Always: November 25 Edition

There was a shooting at the 4th Precinct demonstrations, late Monday night.  Three men, described by BLM as “white supremacists” – and in retrospect it appears they were, although to be fair some elements in BLM call everyone  a white supremacist – shot five protesters.  Thankfully, none of the injuries are “serious”, although let’s be honest, if I get hit by a bullet, it’s freaking serious.

But it’s the left we’re talking about, here.  It’s a crisis.  Waste not, want not.

How’s That Again?:  The three shooters – apparently identifiable as “White Supremacists” by dint of wearing masks, were being “escorted away from the protest”, according to the media’s accounts, or (according to these two people in, er, masks), “escorted” rather more aggressively:

Anyway, the three men – whose arrest the Strib reports – ran, and then opened fire, hitting five.  It took about 12 hours for the police to catch them.

They were apparently white men, some of whose Facebook pages bespeak some kind of Caucasianist sympathies, we’re told.

More on the accused later.

Until then, let’s talk about what happened during those 12 hours:

Thanks, Betsy!:  Now, if you’re not in the Twin Cities, let’s set the stage for you; Mayors Betsy Hodges of Minneapolis and Chris Coleman of Saint Paul have done everything possible under, and beyond, the law to accomodate Black Lives Matter.  They’ve allowed BLM to repeatedly block freeways and mass transit during rush hour; they not only let BLM block Snelling Avenue for four hours during the State Fair – one of the busiest days of the year – they gave them a full, aggressive escort on their march.  And they’ve tolerated a protest around a police station that has at times blocked access, teetered on the edge of violence, and required drawing police from other parts of the city for nights on end.  Rumor has it the police leave mints on the pillows of Rashad Turner and Nekima Pounds-Levy.

And yet, when the chips were down, Minneapolis NAACP boss Raeisha Williams knew exactly who to blame:

No word if the suspects are sleepers for the MPD.

What?  You Thought There Was Going To Be An Article About Habitual Lying That Didn’t Include Heather Martens?: Heather Martens of “Protect” MN blamed carry permittees for the shooting.

The suspects apparently are not carry permit holders.

I’m not going to quote it. I’m not going to link it.  Heather Martens doesn’t deserve the attention of any sentient being (which may be why the media gives her so much credence).

But if you’re in the media?  Ask yourself why you keep citing this idiot.

  1. Nekima Pounds-Levy is an affirmative action hire at St Thomas. She makes 6 figures yet her home in Plymouth is in foreclosure. She blames racist banks.
St Thomas has a really good business school. Perhaps she can take some diversity classes and learn basic economics.

  2. Just out of curiosity, how does Ms. Martens make a living? Are the donations from the various gun control foundations that generous? Maybe we ought to look up the donors of her groups and start shaming them into ending their support.

  3. BikeB,

“Protect” MN gets about $300K in funding a year, mostly from liberals with deep pockets (see the Joyce Foundation).

    Heather reportedly makes about $50K.

  4. Meanwhile, in the mean streets of South Minneapolis, we have this on Nov 22:
Authorities say two people are dead and another is hospitalized after a shooting in south Minneapolis Sunday night.

“The Minneapolis Police Department responded to a report of a shots fired at about 7:46 p.m. in the parking lot of an apartment building on the 2200 block of East Franklin Avenue. When officers arrived, two adult men had suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. Another adult male was shot and taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with serious injuries.

Police say all three victims were found shot inside a vehicle. They have not been identified.” WCCO-TV

BLM did not set up a picket line or in any way address this, one of many shootings of blacks by other blacks. The elephant in the room of course is the high frequency of crimes committed by blacks against other blacks. Because nobody wants to look at what causes it. See “The Bell Curve”. As long as liberals and the media continue to ask us not to believe our lying eyes, the problem will continue. The recent release of dashcam video from Chicago may well push things beyond the tipping point. My view of the video is that the shooting was certainly justified: perp with a knife doesn’t drop it when told to and makes a move in the direction of the officer, who responds as trained by shooting him. Did he have to fire 16 shots? Probably not, but I don’t see this holding up as Murder One. Excessive force? It’s academic. It’s not Hollywood out there. Knowing that an assailant with a knife can cover twenty feet before I can draw and shoot would tend to make me keep shooting too. Look at videos of Palestinians stabbing Israelis and you’ll see how deadly a knife can be. So now, what if the cops decide to go Galt and just let the criminals run amok? How many nights go by before the rest of us are begging them to come back?

  5. Golfdoc, when Blacks kill other Blacks, it’s the fault of the racist power system put in place and maintained by racist white people.
Students learn this in their first year in college. Hell, they learn it at orientation for their first year in college.

  6. Miski Noor, a media contact for Black Lives Matter, said “a group of white supremacists showed up at the protests, as they have done most nights.”

I’d bet a dozen donuts that Ms. Miski refers to any member of any group that opposes BLM as a ‘white supremacist.’ The reporter, of course, never bothered to ask Miski how she knew that these people were ‘white supremacists.’ They are as rare as hens’ teeth, after all.

I was called a “white supremacist” and told to “check my white male privilege” for asking a BLM activist what BLM’s actual political and social goals were, in concrete terms.

When all you have is a hammer, the whole world is a nail.

Oh, I can tell you that. Control of local police departments by the federal JD, hopefully with a new class of salaried activists as intermediaries (no Irish need apply for that job).
