There was a mass killing over the weekend in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
This was the headline in the Traverse City Record Eagle, one of the local papers – a Michigan paper:
It’s a tragedy indeed, and a crime.
But there was no gun involved. The four people were killed by an alleged drunk driver.
Remember: layers and layers of gatekeepers are what separate the credible mainstream media from mere bloggers.
UPDATE: As God is my witness, I thought there was a Traverse City, Oklahoma.
But it’s Michigan.

We didn’t need another example of how low our institutions of higher learning have fallen (ds’s childishly foul, semi-literate screeds have driven it home), but there it is.
DG will drop by and tell us this IS a mass gun killing because if the malefactor had been able to get a gun that’s what she would have used.

I love the subhead “Witnesses say people flew through the air.” You know, if the gun was an Abrams tank.
Her attorney says she has a history of mental illness and was suicidal at the time. Her father conceded she’s been in and out of mental hospitals but says she was a kind and loving person, this act was out of character.
Hmm, exactly the same things reported about every mass shooter. No wonder the media was confused. And still, nobody is willing to talk seriously about reforming the mental health delivery system.
Had she been driving an SUV it would have been in a larger font.
Visiting the Record Eagle Corrections Page via internet where the editors claimed it was a the headline was a “designer error” (what’s that you wingnuts claim – there is a media “template” on covering story’s?) so I could leave a comment: “Other than that, the story was accurate, eh?”; I found the current headline:
“Over 260 dead as earthquake strikes Afghanistan, Pakistan”

Not sure if earlier editions had “shooter” instead of “earthquake” but never the less: Progress.
Doh’. The lack of coherence in the first sentence of the previous comment is the fault of a ‘designer error’ and Mitch not springing for a few layers of gatekeepers and fact checkers. Cheap bas****.
It’s worth noting that Traverse City is on the west, conservative, side of Michigan. They are going to hear about this for a while, and people are unlikely to believe the line that it was just an oopsie. I’m guessing they may also lose a few hundred subscribers.
One other note; Traverse City is NOT local to Stillwater, OK–you might want to clarify that in your post, gracious host.
