I own a business in Minneapolis, and have spoke to a couple of city council members that are opposed to the Working Families initiative. It’s been pushed through by the SEIU based on a progressive national associations boilerplate template. The mayor is all for it, but I’m actually enjoying the reaction. Many of my very liberal fellow business owners are up in arms about this. It’s the first time we’ve ever agreed on anything political. So, I’m wondering how many eyes this over-reach may start to open.
By the way, if you want to offer feedback on this, the best way is to email workingfamilies@minneapolismn.gov with bullet points of why you think this is a horrible idea.
There is thinking that it was actually the city of St. Paul and Mayor Coleman that are pushing this, since it’ll drive a lot of business out of Minneapolis.
