A Twaffe Is When A Politician Inadvertently Tweets The Truth

By Mitch Berg

Taryll Clark is a Saint Cloud state Senator who’s running against Michele Bachmann in the MN6.

Leo Pusateri (writing at Freedom Dogs) wondered – where does  she get her support?

The answer was on Twitter:

  • Thanks to the Laborers Union for your support and endorsement. It’s going to be a fun campaign! Have you joined? www.tarrylclark.com
  • The new AFL CIO booth is fabulous and full of fun people! Thanks for all your encouragement!
  • The new AFL CIO booth is fabulous and full of fun people! Thanks for all your encouragement!
  • Spoke at the Famers union booth….I’m ready to work with Cong Peterson in Washington!
  • More fun on the campaign trail: thanks to the Carpenters for your endorsement, too! http://tinyurl.com/lc6tfw
  • Glad to have more friends joining the campaign – thanks to Teamsters Joint 32 and Teamsters Local 120 for your endorsements!
  • Got to see my AFSCME, working America and teacher friends. AFSCME’s early endorsement has gotten us off to a great start!
  • Thanks to my friends in AFSCME Council 65 for your endorsement! We’re off to a great start. Hope you will join too at www.tarrylclark.com
  • Proud to have the endorsement of my friends in AFSCME Council 5
  • Now, let’s not cast aspersions.  Just because a candidate is entirely beholden to special insterests whose entire goal is more spending and political power, that’s not a problem, is it?

Wow, what a sinister special interest: Workers with blue-collar jobs. Why can’t the guy just take money from tobacco companies and defense contractors like an honest politician?

    2. Badda Says:

I know a few bruisers and tough-guys and fellas with broken noses… they LOVE the Unions! I should let them know that Clark needs some more Union thugs! They’ll love the work… I mean, chance to support the process.

    3. Terry Says:

Clown, clown, clown. You are such a babe in the woods. The guys you are talking about don’t know a twitter from a twat. Clark was thanking the union bosses for selling the workers’ votes. You know, the guys who get paid from union funds when the workers they control are ordered out on strike, who drive cadillacs, not chevies, and who really, really. don’t want the people who work for them joining any God Damn union.
Turn your head, my boy, and I’ll fill your ear with wisdom.

    4. Chuck Says:

NRO reported on some of the things Barry and the Dems are doing in return for getting hundreds of millions of buckos from Big Union. For example, gov’t contracts can only go to AFL-CIO members. It’s be like if I bribed a gov’t official to award me a no-bid contract. This will also apply to gov’t/socialized health care.

    5. Terry Says:

SEIU is big in hospital worker representation. SEIU leadership has had some pretty fierce pushback from some of its locals in CA. Seems that Andy Stern and his goons show up at a workplace, fire up the workers, win a unionization vote, and then disappear. Dues are paid but union promises of improved working conditions, higher wages, and better benefits don’t materialize. When you run that kind of organization you need the goons to keep the workers in line. The poor bastards thought that they were voting for Snowball, but they got Napolean.

    6. angryclown Says:

See Terry, we got this thing in New York we call a “secret ballot.” Prevents bosses from selling votes. You should look into it. In any case, you probably shouldn’t be too surprised when working people vote for Democratic candidates when the alternative is the party of the country club set.

    7. Kermit Says:

Clownie thinks his state will keep it’s “secret ballot”. Clownie must be unaware of the “Workers Protection Act” working it’s way through the Imperial Congress. It includes a little item called “card check”, and that will be the end of the secret ballot in union voting. Just like Andy Stern wants.

    8. Mr. D Says:

Dues are paid but union promises of improved working conditions, higher wages, and better benefits don’t materialize.

Sounds like my wife’s experiences with AFSCME. They get their money whether an employee joins the union or not. But as for improved working conditions, higher wages and better benefits? Not so much.

    9. Terry Says:

That’s the best you can do, clown? a ‘secret ballot’ and ‘country club set’? You think union bosses play golf at the muni?
I was in the ILWU in the early 90’s. In Hawaii they control the docks. About twenty-five years ago some hippie kid from the mainland joined the union and ran on a reform ticket. Da brudda’s took him on a boatride a few miles off of Maui and threw him over the side. Somehow he managed to swim ashore. Lots of people went to jail for that.
Gary Rodriguez, the one-time head of the United Public Workers union here (UPW is part of AFSCME), is sitting in a California prison cell, convicted of 101 counts of felony theft. His daughter is another cell, convicted of 95 felony counts. They were skimming union funds.
Rodriguez is currently suing his old union because he says that they they, and not he, should be responsible for paying off an $850k loss on a UPW investment fund that he criminally mismanaged.
Yep, them unions is the worker’s friend all right.

    10. angryclown Says:

You know, Terry, there are actually people who worked for major corporations and were convicted of crimes. Shocking as that may be to you.

    11. Troy Says:

What a hopelessly general and weak retort. Unimpressive!

    12. Nordeaster Says:

I have a friend in health care (currently in SEIU) whose boss wants to modify her job description and level her up, with a corresponding raise. Her own union is fighting her getting compensated for the extra responsibilities she’s taken on because the move would take the postion from an hourly union position to a salaried non-union position.

She has paid dues to the union only to have her own union oppose her getting a promotion. They clearly care more about lining their coffers and the warchests of politicians in their pocket than the welfare of the members they claim to protect.

    13. Terry Says:

Think about who represents your interests if are an employee at will and who represents your interests if you are employed via a union contract, Angry Clown.
Having your labor exploited by a capitalist boss is the price you pay for freedom. Having your labor exploited by a union that is supposed to represent your interests is an Orwellian nightmare.
