Medicus Defungo

By Johnny Roosh

What would America’s health care system look like with half as many physicians?

Let’s find out.

Pass Obamacare.

65%, of doctors say they oppose the proposed government expansion plan.

Four of nine doctors, or 45%, said they “would consider leaving their practice or taking an early retirement” if Congress passes the plan the Democratic majority and White House have in mind.

More than seven in 10 doctors, or 71% — the most lopsided response in the poll — answered “no” when asked if they believed “the government can cover 47 million more people and that it will cost less money and the quality of care will be better.”

Last one to leave, please turn off that x-ray thingee.

Don’t you mean “the Machine that goes PING!”?

But leave the little machine that goes “ping!” That’s my very favorite.

See, that’s the problem — doctors need to have at least a passing understanding of basic mathematics to get through medical school.

Maybe you want to code that to the new “DUH” tag, Johnny Doosh.

Well the solution is simple. Obama mandates that they have to continue practicing medicine. If he can mandate everyone have insurance, he can force doctors to work.

Or maybe we just get a bunch of illegal immigrants willing to practice medicine Americans don’t want to practice…

Yeah, and 7 of 10 Hollywood actors threatened to leave the country if Bush were elected. They didn’t go, either.

What are you worried about, anyway? A person with your condition (conservatism) would be considered hopeless and not worth saving, so you wouldn’t get to see a doctor anyway. A shrink, maybe, to certify that you need to be sent to the re-education camps, but no need to waste a real doctor’s precious time on a lost cause.

I can’t retire early, for a variety of reasons. I did change the scope of my practice 2 years ago, anticipating a victory by Clinton or Obama and a subsequent push for single payer, mandated health insurance. Looks like I was correct when I talk to my colleagues. I feel like I’m in a lifeboat watching the crew re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic before it takes a long, cold ride to the bottom.

Since some Democrats say we need a draft, maybe Obama can reinstate the draft, draft doctors, then nationalize the hospitals and force the newly inducted medical staff to work in the gov’t hospitals. Harry Truman almost did that with railroaders during a railroad strike.

There is also an Innovation Tax being proposed in the Senate, if passed it will surely stifle technology and innovation.

In contrast to the special interest groups that support the bill because they stand to benefit?

Like all those poor blue collar union folks?

Assclown, I think you better hurry up and see your proctologist before he takes the high road. You need to extricate your head out of your ass… again!

Four years as an undergrad. Four years at an expensive med school, followed by three to seven years as a resident. One upside to this education and training is that in the US, medical doctors routinely top the list of highest IQ by profession.
In poorer countries you can become a licensed MD with as little as three years of post secondary education. Some countries with socialized medicine cut costs by importing doctors from countries where it’s cheaper to educate them.
I’ve read that in Great Britain, medicine used to be considered a solid entry into the upper middle class for a bright English kid. Now these bright English kids tend to become lawyers and bureaucrats instead.
Despite all the talk about people moving to Canada after the election of 2004, immigration from Canada to the US is higher than the other way ’round. Canada is sending us thousands of medical professionals each year.
One of the many reasons why socialism does not work is because individuals are well aware that their interests and the State’s interests are not the same.

Um, no. Certainly not a majority of them.

  15. Terry Says:

Ain’t gonna do a thing for me, Angry Clown. Say, aren’t most doctors American citizens? Has Obama made them non-persons yet?
