Not Just Corrupt

A third ACORN office has been busted allegedly trying to bend the rules to get a home loan for a “pimp”:

The scandal surrounding the left-wing activist organization ACORN has spread to New York, with employees at its Brooklyn office caught on video helping supposed ladies of the night get loans for their dream houses of ill repute.

Rather than reminding the women that prostitution is dangerous and illegal and advising them to change their careers, counselors at the social-services group shockingly offer suggestions on how they can launder their earnings.

And register to vote!

But the story the mainstream media isn’t reporting?  Not only is ACORN corrupt – they’re stupid!

They took these two seriously:

There’s not a chance in hell she looks like a brothel hooker – and the “pimp” doesn’t look like he could beat her up.

In a statement released Saturday, ACORN said that it could not defend the actions of its employees but that what O’Keefe and Giles did was criminal.

“And, in fact, a crime it was — our lawyers believe a felony — and we will be taking legal action against Fox and their co-conspirators,” the statement said.

Fox News aired the Baltimore and Washington tapes.

O’Keefe said, “ACORN wants it both ways.”

“You can’t fire the employees and then say I have defamed them,” he said.

Expect attorneys for the Baltimore office to try to trot out the same idiotic Maryland wiretapping law they pulled out against Linda Tripp when she taped her conversations with Monica Lewinski; under Maryland law, both parties to a (non-law-enforcement) wiretap have to know the conversation is being recorded (in most states, including Minnesota, only one party has to know they’re being taped); the laws seems to be invoked only to protect Democrat politicians and groups.

Gotta say this about that crew, they really farked ACORN over.

Release one video. ACORN goes nuts, claims it was a fluke.

Release another video. ACORN goes bananas, claims they tried and failed in 5 other cities, claims racism.

Release another video, this time from one of those cities that ACORN claimed they tried and failed in, and this time the video shows advice on tax evasion and other new crimes. Of course, being NYC you have to expect that folks will thrown in a few more criminal acts for free!

Finely played. ACORN didn’t exactly have the best of reputations starting out, but this crew got ACORN to actively assist in trashing their own reputation.

Not that it’ll ever play on the networks. That’d go against the Obama message.

What are the odds these two have more tapes?

What are the odds that they’re going to need support, help, and prayers?

Now Mitch, how would you know what working girls and pimps look like? :^)

I probably shouldn’t speculate here, but could it be that ACORN people know what a girl looks like BEFORE she is completely used and abused? Could be even more of a story here than meets the eye, so to speak.

These criminal videographers are trying to stop ACORN from the nobel task of upholding the downtrodden performance artists of America.
Everyone should have a “tin” of unreported, untaxed money buried under the grass in their backyard. It’s the American Way!

I was going to make the same observations as bubbasan, I have no idea what a brothel hooker looks like or doesn’t look like, and I’m kinda hoping Mitch doesn’t either, LOL. I thought the photo looked like they were dressed up for some kind of tacky costume party.

Not a fair representation KR. You have had comments deleted or declined on Penigma for things like seriously insulting and offending a priest, and for going off topic / not responding to questions about your content. As one of the people who has with regret, rejected or deleted those problem comments on occasion – and explained to you why by email, and who is currently handling the bulk of moderation while Pen is busy with other duties, I protest that statement.

But then I think you were kind of expecting that, since you know I try to regularly read SitD, for my Mitch ‘fix’, and of course the pleasure of reading AC and other ‘regulars’.

KR, I delete your comments on Penigma, for things like insulting a priest and for declining to stay on topic; even with the occasional deletion or declined comment for posting, you’re still pretty prolific in your comments. It would be inaccurate and false to claim that any comment was not posted because you were shining light on foolishness or to save face, ever.

That’s kinda the point. If ACORN fell for this, they’ll fall for any kind of corruption, malfeasance or depravity.

Including a rain-making Chicago ward heeler, apparently.

  17. Badda Avatar

When ACORN says that the film crew/pimp&ho show team tried and failed in various places… you are not surprised considering how they were dressed.

I wonder if they tried this while in more straightforward outfits, and if so where?

And how many of those succeeded? Maybe they have some more videos.

What’s the matter, Clown? Too down in the mouth to call anyone racist?

To be fair to Mitch, Dog Gone, it sure does seem that (with Germany and Nevada legalizing it) certain aspects of the trade are a little more observable to non-participants than in prior years. And from those reports alone–designed to make it look more attractive than it ought to–Mitch has a darned good point. The couple looks like a high school debate team gone wrong, not anyone ready to handle the vigors of “working at night.”

Which tells us that even more is wrong with ACORN than we thought….

As to what good cause is, I really dislike either rejecting or deleting any comments also. For me, two things constitute cause; we’ve chosen to have content suitable not only for adults, but for those under 18; and I was fortunate to have a law professor friend advise us about what the current concerns are regarding libel and the internet in setting guidelines.

This is perhaps a perspective that will receive derision, but when I read this I cringed, thinking about how I would feel if I read this about my dad, no matter how much it was just a well intentioned joke. Maybe Bun and Zam never read SitD, who really knows. In this case I hope not.

When I was a kid, I used to sometimes go downtown shopping after school, and ride home with my dad. In the brokerage firm, to get to his office I had to go through an area referred to as ‘the bullpen’ where language could get pretty coarse. The few times comments like that were directed at my father – the poster person for straight and narrow – even though it was not meant malicously or seriously, it felt really awful.

I’d hate for Bun to feel that way. Or Zam. Just a different perspective. (Sorry AC)

Hey AC, I want you to know I’m very very fond of you, and the last thing I wanted was to put you on the spot or chasten you. So, better, but still a bit….ewww.

Maybe it’s a dad daughter thing. For most girls, they’re dad is and should be always their hero, the person who makes you feel safe, and who you look up to, even if they are fighting tooth and nail with him at the time over rules and responsibilities and teenage stuff and you’d sooner die than tell him so, LOL. The person who for better or worse, every other man has to measure up to.

I’d bet every father who reads or comments here feels the same way in reverse about their daughters. We used to joke about having ‘hyphenated names’, as in being introduced in the office to colleagues and clients as Name HYPHEN My Hyphen DAUGHTER, or worse Hypen YOUNG Hyphen Daughter.

Hope you aren’t cross with me AC!
That the women in the photo look about the same age as Bun… makes it worse.

Oh please, I am very fair. And as for your friend “Mr. Offending and Insulting Priest” that calls those that question the illegal alien loophole bigots.

Some Priest, sorry if the truth hurts.

Got Quote? Why yes I do, DG.

“…but I submit to you, those who are are harping on this issue are showing their bigotry and xenophobic attitude. Its pretty ugly, but not suprising considering many of the right wing’s attitudes these days.”

“…those who are harping on the issue of illegal aliens obtaining free health coverage are showing their own bigotry and xenophobic bias.”

Is that behavior becoming of a priest? Seriously? Don’t quit your day job. I expect the burbots to play the race card whenever possible. Right AssClown. 😉

KR, consider that this may not be an appropriate discussion for SitD; I refer it to Mitch for consideration.

I wish to be clear that I am not avoiding anything, but I also wish to be a considerate participant.

The topic you quote, KR, is not the only instance where a member of the clergy was treated offensively; far from it, and the worst instances were on other topics.

Your quotations are taken out of context and presented in a deceptive way that changes their full meaning.

What was addressed were the differences in the legitimate ways in which citizenship is established for any government program, which proposals for proof of citizenship were redundant or ineffective or unreasonable, and the factual extent to which any fraudulent consumption of government tax-paid services were abused versus assumptions about it. Bigotry and xenophobia were terms used specifically in regard to some of the motives for redundant or not objectively based, unjustified measures being demanded for proof of citizenship. And lets not forget the discussion on some standardized criteria for all proof of citizenship requirements across the board that would be the same for everything, instead of program by program variations.

NO ONE disputed reasonable identification requirements, or were dismissive of objective proof of any actual fraud. And no one else advocating for more stringent measures of proof had any problem with a post being accepted in full, even welcomed.

Nor will I allow your many efforts to post the comment “DG, are you trembling in fear?” after being requested to desist. For the record, KR, I do not tremble in fear of anything that comes to mind, and I trust Mitch and Pen can both confirm from actual acquaintance, that I am hardly a fearful sort of woman. Rather the opposite.

I think it is a demonstration of my considerable patience that despite your refusal to comply with courteous requests, I continue to try to work with you to post your conservative views on Penigma so that the greatest possible spectrum of opinion is represented and welcomed.

KR, when you are substantive, you are great; when you are witty, fun and charming, you are wonderful. When you are not, I either reach for the bottle of asprin, or log off and take a long long walk with one of the dogs to regain my composure. You are the ONLY person for whom that is necessary, and you are far from the only dissenting or conservative commenter. Your participation is very welcome, but the same limits apply to you that apply to everyone.

  35. K-Rod Avatar

    “…out of context…”

    Say what????

“…but I submit to you, those who are are harping on this issue are showing their bigotry and xenophobic attitude. Its pretty ugly, but not suprising considering many of the right wing’s attitudes these days.”

“…those who are harping on the issue of illegal aliens obtaining free health coverage are showing their own bigotry and xenophobic bias.”

DG, how do you want to spin his use of the words “bigotry” and “xenophobic” toward those that are concerned with the illegal alien loophole in ObamaNationCare? BTW, I do not deny that the Catholic Church has its share of problems but hey, it is not my church.

    “…am hardly a fearful sort…”

Then on what basis can YOU claim the Rethuglicans or the RNC are fear-mongering? Their questions don’t scare me or cause me fear, no one I know has claimed the questions caused them FEAR; so I naturally asked you why you were so scared from their questions.

As I have shown, DG, the same limits do not apply to everyone. But then again, I haven’t been calling others bigots or xenophobes.

If liberals are going to throw around words like, bigotry, xenophobic, racist, fear, fear-monger… they better darn well be able to back up their accusations because I will call them out on it every time. And, as you know, I won’t sugar coat it.

I understand that my shining the light on the facts of the matters can be a bitter pill for the Liberal Fascists to swallow. 😉

DG, how do you want to spin his use of the words “bigotry” and “xenophobic” toward those that are concerned with the illegal alien loophole in ObamaNationCare?”

Very simply KR, by contrasting the actual numbers dating all the way back to the Reagan era up to the present, that demonstrate very few actual confirmed evidence of illegal aliens consuming ANY kind of services through fraudulent claims of citizenship, completely disproportionate to the fear of that occurring. The actual numbers are miniscule; it is NOT the problem it is presented to be.

Those terms you take out of context were applied to the most extreme views on the topic, not the mainstream, and not to more legitimate concerns. The nature of the so-called loophole in the health care reform proposed is disputed.

Which is not to assert that there is not a substantial illegal alien problem, there is. Only that the problems related to proof of citizenship for programs has not been anything like the big issue being made of it, as documented by objective information.

KR, your statement about ‘naturally asked’, referring to something asked and answered repeatedly, that you were asked to stop, is disingenuous and reflects the dishonesty on which you have been challenged.

You have no shining light, this morning the anti-strib information I just debunked by going back to the original sources for verification was a perfect example of that. There is nothing for you to ‘sugar coat’.

In contrast, the distinguished Jesuit, who I am pleased to have as a commenter and occasional contributor, is a well-respected and esteemed professor. He consistently provides thorough documentation for his assertions, and very well reasoned arguments and positions. The man is meticulous. It is acceptable to challenge him if you can, but not to insult him – or anyone else, not an author, not another commenter.

I am pleased that the gentlman has also become a good friend.

He has been generous with his own expertise, and when applicable, he has sought the expertise of his colleagues’ specialties on my behalf. I am so very thrilled that one of his colleagues happens to be someone I idolize, the esteemed Bill Black, the Reagan era S&L wunderkind white collar crime expert, given my current topic of edeavor.

“Those terms you take out of context were applied to the most extreme views on the topic,…”

No they were not specifically applied to the most extreme views, they were basically applied to anyone that points out the illegal alien loophole and won’t do what Obama says, ie ‘SHUT UP and pass the bill NOW!!!!!’

DG, I didn’t think you would support calling those that don’t support ObamaNationCare bigots and racists. Shame on YOU!

“The nature of the so-called loophole in the health care reform proposed is disputed.”

Duh, close the loophole and put to rest any dispute. Isn’t that an easy solution? I’ve come up with brilliant solutions in my day; this one is such a no-brainer. Please try to keep up.

    …………………………

“It is acceptable to challenge him if you can, but not to insult him…”

Insult him how, by basically calling him a bigot with his “own bigotry and xenophobic bias”? Why can’t you see the hypocrisy?

I have a hard time having any respect for a race card playing “man of the cloth”, be it this “priest” or Obama’s Rev for 20 some years.

*Cue Rev Wright… “God Damn America”…*

    …………………….

“Which is not to assert that there is not a substantial illegal alien problem, there is. “

Then why the hell do you refuse to support closing the loophole? Why do you support calling those that point out the loophole bigots?

    “…the anti-strib information I just debunked…”

Are you making things up again? If we don’t believe you, just ask you? Seriously? Was this somehow in regard to your accusation that the Anti-Strib is a “birther” blog? Is that what you claim to have debunked? Any other members of the MOB you want to accuse of being “birthers”?

“…is disingenuous and reflects the dishonesty on which…”

DG, you were the one claiming the RNC is nothing but fear tactics. This is what you said about the RNC chair: “He is a master of the art of fear.”

I’ve taken you to task on multiple occasions, starting here on SitD when you claimed to be moderate/centrist. You are as liberal as they come. You refuse to be skeptical or critical of Obama and the democrats. You not only allow, but support your Jesuit friend to call those that point out the illegal alien loophole in ObamaNationCare to be bigots!!!

I suggest your current topic of endevor should be to help your fellow liberal bloggers to stop calling concerned citizens bigots and racists.
