Everyone’s Got Racism! Racism Racism Racism!

By Mitch Berg

According to the Administration (via it’s biggest media fan club, MSNBC, which is to Barack Obama what Lori Sturdevant is to the DFL), yelling “You Lie” isn’t merely rude (but accurate); it’s racist:

According to MSNBC’s David Shuster on Friday, South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson shouting ‘you lie’ to President Obama was racism on display: “The fact that Joe Wilson is from South Carolina…it strikes a lot of people as awfully close to the idea that maybe there was some sort of racist or bigoted element there.”

Shuster went on to add: “And especially then when you look up at the picture and you see older white men, all Republicans, sitting there. Just it gives off a strange vibe.”

So – according to the Administration (and I think it’s fair to say MSNBC channels the administration on all particulars), dissent isn’t just (putatively) wrong; it’s depraved.  You’re a “teabagger”, you’re a “racist”, you’re a “militiaman”, you’re a loose cannon waiting to go off and kill a bunch of gentle liberals (like the big “pro-choice” he-man who shot a 63-year-old guy with an oxygen tank yesterday, of course).

Love that new openness, Mr. President.

So that makes you a racist by extension. Next you’ll be defending those awful wingnutz who entrapped honest, hard-working ACORN people for trying to provide housing for minor Ecuadorian performance artists.
Is there no bottom to the depth of depravity you Obama haters will sink?

I blame the inflammatory rhetoric found on MNPublius.

  3. Kermit Says:

Well he murdered 2 people in cold blood. Could we call this a pro-choice rampage? Late late term abortion?
I can’t wait for the lib spin calling for more gun control.

  4. DiscordianStooj Says:

Someone needs to update Shuster’s Wikipedia page to include that he works for the Obama administration. It’s not mentioned on there.

  5. Mitch Berg Says:

I think I made my sardonic conflation of MSNBC and the Administration, for purposes of pure sarcasm, fairly clear.

  6. Kermit Says:

The party of ACORN does not get sardonic.

    Technically, he’s volunteering.

  8. Terry Says:

If Shuster is a journalist, he _must_ be unbiased. End of story.

  9. Night Writer Says:

Well, some of my best friends are South Carolinians, but then you know how they are.

    “Bush lied, people died!!!!”

    Racism?

  11. DiscordianStooj Says:

Yeah, I get you were kinda but not really joking.

The thing that really makes it brilliant satire is that it’s exactly as nutty as any other SitD post.

The thing that really makes Angry Clown’s last comment satire is that it’s exactly as nutty as any other Angry Clown comment.

  14. Kermit Says:

Clownies comment is satire because he never, ever cites an example of why the post is “nutty”. Because he can’t. It’s the soft bigotry of being a douchebag.

  15. Ben Says:

Anyone notice the LACK OF media coverage of this? Compared to the murder of the abortion doctor earlier this summer the silence on this is deafening. And Mitch, I sent the Timmer e-mails, I can’t wait to see what your going to do with them.

  16. Kermit Says:

Careful, Ben. Spotty is mentally ill, and it’s best to just avoid all contact with him.

If an older White Republican opposed socialist policies when proposed by Gus Hall, it’d be fine. Intellectual criticisms of political policy are expected during robust debate between persons holding strongly-held beliefs.

If the same Republican opposed socialist policies when proposed by a Person of Color, it’d be racism for sure, maybe also sexism and homophobia (depending on the qualifications of the socialist). There is no imaginable reason to oppose the policy except the White person hating the other.

    It’s really quite simple.
