Africa’s Unified Response to Climate Change – Pay Up, Suckas!

Apparently tired of letting Western millionaires have all the fun bashing the world’s leading economic nations while demanding huge sacrifices of their wealth as payment for ruining the planet, the nations of Africa decided to jump into the game. Being new to this particular shakedown racket you’ll forgive them for their embarrassing directness:
ADDIS ABABA, Aug 25 (IPS) – An African Union proposal demanding billions of dollars in compensation for the impacts of climate change is taking shape.
It is time for Africa to aggressively engage with climate change negotiations to ensure its interests are met in the designing of global responses, said African Union (AU) Commission chair Jean Ping. AU officials say the lack of a coordinated stance on global warming by African governments has placed serious limitations on Africa’s ability to negotiate in the past. To put this right, a meeting to formulate a common stand ahead of the Copenhagen meeting has just concluded in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
African experts on climate change and high-level representatives of AU member states have recommended Africa demand between $67 billion and $200 billion annually in compensation.
There’s something almost refreshing in the directness here. No attempt to get rich on the sly via some hard to understand “cap and trade” scheme, or misdirected funds or grants with earth-friendly names. Their message is simple: Pay. Up.
There’s also something to be said for taking the alarm-peddling Westerners running the Climate Change dog and pony show at their word.
Experts say Africa contributes little to the greenhouse gas emissions blamed for warming, but the continent is likely to be hit hardest by the droughts, floods, heat waves and rising sea levels forecast if climate change is not checked.
Pretty cool formulation there, but it’s hardly original. This is simple restatement of Global Warming Alarmist mantra. Poor nations don’t produce much co2. Poor nations are always “hit hardest” by climate change. Ergo, if manmade co2 is causing Climate Change… voilà! Pay up. The only difference here is that poor nations are asking for the checks to be made out in their own name instead of in the name of some Western environmentalist lobby.
Of course, African nations being typically run by governments with ethics and transparency akin to major crime families, let’s not fool ourselves what’s going on here. Sending billions to Africa to combat the effects of climate change would have the same effect as sending billions to Africa to combat the effects of inbound interstellar asteroids or snipe infestation… the government big wigs would use it to enrich themselves and their families. I wonder if, after striking it rich in the Great Global Warming Raffle, they’ll also take after their Western counterparts in this area and claim all their new mansions and yachts are okay because they’re “green.“

The ‘green economy’ is not about the environment, it is about building a meta-economy that controls the market economy. You wanna make money? Fine. But at some point that money is going to be paid for with government issued indulgences.

It’s not ‘identity politics’, Ben. At least not entirely. It’s that warm glow of superiority you feel when you that you are morally superior to others.
Lefties have gone so far around the bend that if you insist that government has no business applying the law one way towards one racial group and another way towards another racial group, you are a racist. Try wrapping your mind around that. Hard to do if you are sane.

The African nations are ‘compensated’ for not becoming industrial powerhouses.
This is analogous to the combined prosecuting attorneys, defense attorneys, and prison guards of America using tax dollars to bribe Al Capone to continue his criminal activities.
