My NARN colleagues Michael Brodkorb and King Banaian are on the mother of all rolls, lately – skewering the DFL-controlled legislature’s latest round of priorities.
The latest? The Right to Poop Law.
The PiPress addresses the “issue”
To help [intestinal disorder sufferers] and about 35,000 Minnesotans with serious medical conditions that reduce their control over their bowels, the Senate commerce committee on Tuesday passed the Restroom Access Act.The measure would require retail stores to let medically needy people use their restrooms, even if the restrooms arent intended for the public. It would waive civil liability for the stores, and employees who refuse to let such folks use their facilities could be charged with petty misdemeanors and up to a $100 fine.
I’m wondering if there’ll be an astroturf group of sympathy pimps, like the “Second Hand Smoke” advocates?
And what’ll their TV commercials look like?

Right. But the DFL believes, institutionally, that human decency can only happen with government coercion.

This whole thing is just pointing to one or a few IBS suffering people who needed to go, and for whatever reason were denied, and ended up crapping their pants. Then those whining pussies went pissing and moaning to their legislators, begging for a craptastic law that would prevent such embarassment in the future. I’m sure this moving process was probably liberally excremented with some contributions or some other crap that would bowel the legislator over.
No pun intended, of course…

That is exactly what they believe Mitch. Some anonymous liberal commented on one of my posts snarking that I should “join the fun making fun of people with disabling, painful, embarrassing and chronic” diseases. I remarked back that all one needed to do was ask politily and obliquely referred to past experience that I had in doing so. He/she snarked back “You clearly DON’T know much about these diseases if you think that “asking nicely” works.” totally bypassing my comments about past experience.
Sigh – what are you going to do? They obviously do not chose to understand – unless you bash them over the head with all the details and even then…

Sure thing AC. Just make sure you clean up after yourself! I run a clean operation here.
Bill – it’s not just IBS – although that is what they are making it out to be. Without going into great detail, I will say that I have had instances (with family members) where we needed to find a restroom and there was no public one available. We asked and were allowed to use the private one.
I am honestly not seeing this being the earth shattering deal that the DFL is making it into. Do we really have nothing more important before the legislature?
