The president is absolutely right to encourage civility. Is he saying he’ll take away the right to free speech? Absolutely not. He is encouraging a more tolerant world view, where people endeavor to understand those who are unlike them. This is important in modern, multicultural society. Congress certainly could learn this lesson.
